Codex in VSCode suddenly lost syntax highlighting, how to fix?

Yesterday, code blocks in Codex chat were showing normal syntax highlighting for JavaScript.

Today, all code blocks are plain white text. Has anyone else experienced this and fixed somehow?

Have already tried restarting VSCode and removing and reinstalling Codex extension but to no avail.
