Shared rooms & Communal showers: What is the honest reality of freshman dorm life for guys?

Upvotes

I’m planning to live on campus when I go to college because I want the full experience instead of just going home to sleep every day. do you recomend it or not??? I'm really curious about what it's actually like.

For the guys who have lived in shared dorms: what are your craziest, funniest, or most awkward experiences sharing a small room with another guy? With practically zero privacy, how do you guys adapt to things like changing clothes or just getting used to seeing each other around all the time?

Also, a quick question about the facilities: were the showers in your dorm individual stalls or communal? Which setup do you think is better for freshman year? Men only please, thanks!

Academic Life How to get through college

Upvotes

I’m a mechanical engineering student who wasn’t sure about about what they wanted in life. I enjoyed math in high school and i’d say i’m good at working on cars so i figured i’d do mechanical engineering. I also took engineering classes in high school, more basic stuff though.

I knew college wasn’t gonna be easy, let alone being in engineering. I breezed through pre calc and calc 1, failed calc 2.

Im now taking calc 2, physics 1, materials science, and python. Python is easy, but other 3 are far from. My professors in those other 3 classes also happen to be somewhat useless.

My physics lectures have no connection to the homework whatsoever. I mean i know what a velocity, acceleration, and vectors are but knowing what something is doesn’t mean i can solve a word problem ive never seen before.

Anyways long story short, how do i teach myself these 3 classes, that are infamously hard, and pass? Campus resources like math centers and what not also don’t help because i don’t have a grasp on the basic concepts let alone being ready for problem solving.

How do I learn the content and pass classes without have to sacrifice my entire fucking life? I see no light at the end of the tunnel, as a matter of fact, i’m not even in a tunnel, it feels like i’m barried in a fucking hole waiting for my life to be over
