Should I send it in?

Got this at a local expo for 50 bucks. It looked like it was in pretty good condition, plus I had the exact same copy in middle school lol. Was planning to send to Cgc, but am looking for some other opinions. Hoping for a 9.4-9.6

IMO there are too many spine ticks and the corners aren’t as sharp for anything above a 9.

no way it comes back a 9.4, the inside will matter a lot too. my guess if you got it for 50$ its in the 7-8 range

You’ll prob get anywhere from 8.5-9.0, 9.2 best case with a good press.

If you’re looking to grade it and flip, I wouldn’t. You could probably sell it raw for about the same profit as you’d get after the costs and time of grading.

If it’s for PC, sure. 8.5-9.2 isn’t bad, and you can always upgrade to higher later if you want. Plus it’ll prob be worth more in a few years.

Do not send it until you get the stack bend removed or you will be very disappointed with the 9.0 or 8.5 grade. I am not sure if the book is a little tanned or if it is just the lighting. If it is not tanned, you can have the book pressed to a 9.4 or 9.6 grade. The small spine color breaks will probably keep it from grading higher.

Press it first. That slight spine roll will keep it at a 9.2 at best.

9.0 still sells for $200. Slab that puppy but def get it pressed first

You’re definitely not gonna get 9.4 to 9.6. More likely to be 9.0 to 9.2 at best.

That being said this book in 9.0 is fine to grade it sells for about $200.

9.8 or bust with this specific comic. It's not a 9.8 so you're gonna bust. It's a great copy though and I personally would love it.

There's no possibility of this hitting a 9.6 on a good day unless the grader's concussed.

More like $200 for this book, hah.

Just to be clear to others downvoting me, this specific comic (direct, Marvel #1) is around $1000 in a 9.8 on a very good day. A newsie 9.8 is 10x as much, but I still think this book is particularly cool and I'd pay $100 to get it raw.

Some light research:

9.6 is about $300

9.4 is about $200

9.2 is about $200

9.0 is about $150

Personally, if I were to have this book, I'd keep it raw and let someone try to get the potential out of it and sell it raw for $120ish. It gives someone room on the $150 price tag to grade (if they're a reseller / bulk grader) to make a few bucks on a 9.2-9.6 (optimistic) after pressing. For whatever dumb reason, someone sold a NM- on Heritage recently for over $300, so gamblers gonna gamble, but I'm confident I'd sell it for about $120 min.

I just don't see going into this another $50+ or so if you're doing this as a one off. It's very specifcally if you're doing this as a bulk sub at that rate, then yeah... I'd grade it.
