No. Kraft singles are a cheap copy. Real American is different. Slightly different texture and more flavor.

Real, legally defined American Cheese has to have at least 51% real colby or cheddar cheese blended with salt and milk.
Kraft Singles are below that 51% number and are instead a "pasteurized cheese product" that cannot be legally called American Cheese.

Here in Hungary, public catering uses vegetables that nobody buys because of their irregular appearance, but there's nothing wrong with them, they have the exact same amount of nutrients.
