Had a bit of a situation the other day, and came as close as I’ve ever come to drawing my weapon.

Dropped my car off at the shop, and my kids’ work is two blocks away. Decent, commercial neighborhood. I did see a methy woman sitting in the ditch with her very large bully breed, but that’s not all that uncommon around here so I wasn’t worried about.

I set out with my laptop to walk to this restaurant to work and wait, and as soon as I exit the shop’s driveway I see a man down the street. He’s LOOKING at me. Almost looked like he has small binoculars, but it could’ve been just him shielding the sun from his eyes to look.

I keep walking, staying on the opposite side of the street from him.

He crosses over to talk to the lady in the ditch, but keeps looking at me. A lot. I’m already uncomfortable and just caught really weird vibes from the start, which isn’t like me. I’m not one of those people uncomfortable around most men just because I’m alone.

So I’m across the street walking. They are both looking. I nod and keep walking, but as soon as I get across from them the dude starts walking FAST directly towards me.

I put my hand up and said NO! He kept walking and I said DON’T FOLLOW ME. Walked faster. He got mad. Started yelling and insulting me and saying he wasn’t/wouldn’t follow me, and slightly changed his trajectory.

I kept walking, quickly, but kept an eye on him.

Everything ended fine, but it shook me up. First (I knowwwww) a I don’t carry chambered, and second, I carry in a designated carry purse. I had unzipped it when I saw him checking me out but didn’t want them to see it when I was walking by (in case I was being paranoid 🥴) so had zipped it up again.

So, discuss. What would you have done.

Hello everyone! Coming to this page because while I appreciate the advice from all the big burly men in my life, I'd like to get the perspective of women who actually carry on a daily basis.

My initial pull is towards Sig Sauer 9mm. A single stack makes the most sense for concealed carry, especially on women with tighter clothes. Ideally, I'd holster on my waist or ankle. There is so much information out there and so many people with great reccs... short of just shooting them at a range, what's the best way to decide what's for me??

I really like the look of the sig p365, but ive also heard great things about ruger. Do you think there's a major upside to a single stack compared to a hybrid mag?

My gf finally asked me to take her to my range a few weeks ago. I'm excited to say that she loved the experience! We have been going back every weekend, but she had the most fun with my handguns, but not as much with revolvers. She wants to start carrying a semi auto. I couldn't be more proud!

Anybody have personal experience with a pistol / holster setup that they can share? I know every body is different, and everybody has different preferences. I have a bunch of holsters for my 9mm pistols, but I tend to carry bigger or metal frame guns. I think she wants a poly frame for weight.

She will sometimes carry my Canik Mete MC9 in her Lulu bag, but she's also looking for something she can strap to her body. She even thinks my G19 is too bulky for her to carry (in her bag). She is small, slender, and has curves, so all of her clothes fit snugly. My holsters are mostly AIWB so they don't work for her.

I'm interested in concealed carry, but not interested in complicating my life with everything it involves if it isn't necessary. If you have real life stories you can share, I'd appreciate it greatly. I ran some basic searches through this subreddit but didn't get any hits. Thanks for your time responding.

I’ve been carrying AIWB for years now and am thinking of purse carry. Does anyone carry in a purse that is not designed for a handgun using a standard Kydex IWB holster? I have a BG2.0 and a Vedder Kydex that fits great in a side pocket of my favorite purse. Anyone see a safety issue with this if it’s clipped in? Thanks!

Hello, my wife and I are pretty new to owning firearms in general but we're looking to get her a CCL. (Illinois) Part of that deal being we need to get her a holster, and we don't really have a clue where to start because every "gun person" we know is a male and unfortunately can't offer too much insight beyond "avoid off body carry". (unfortunately gun culture in Northen IL is a little taboo unless you go into a gun store and when you talk about guns with just about anyone they look at you like you have a third eye)

A few friends suggested that most women they know who CC choose PHLSter Enigma. I did some quick digging and a partner brand of theirs, Henry Holsters, sells the Enigma system with a holster for our Ruger RXM (PHLSter's site routed us to them). We want something flexible that will give her options to try different carry positions and styles but we aren't 100% sure which is best for that yet.

If it helps we have two small kids that she has all day and that's part of what is driving this ship to concealed carry.

anyone have recommendations for a good pocket holster for the bodyguard 2.0? it's a small gun but most pants pockets are smaller. i'd also love to be able to carry in my leggings without it obviously printing!

Hi everyone!! I need help in finding a good thigh holster for my p365 9mm, I have a IWB that I carry for whenever I wear pants and shorts. The problem is, I LOVEEEE to wear dresses and skirts, and can’t wear my IWB holster.

I’d like to find a thigh holster or some sort of alternative like a belly band or something, and I’m willing to look at something off the body but prefer on.

Hi all,
I currently carry the S&W M&P Shield plus in 2 ways:
- ccw crossbody fanny pack strapped across the chest
- inner thigh holster shorts
and use the GunGoddess Adhesive Velcro Holster in both of those, super easy to draw from without the holster popping out as they attach with velcro to the compartment in the bag and the fabric of the shorts pocket inside the leg.

I have 2 new pieces that have been sitting holster-less because those holsters cannot be made for these pieces:
- S&W Lady Smith .38 revolver
- Precision Small Arms .25 (baby browning remake)

I almost always wear long dresses/skirts/tunics so there are most methods of carry that are not feasible with my wardrobe—I'd rather work my carry around my preferred wardrobe and style and not vice versa. To each their own! That being said, I'm hoping to continue using these carry methods for the new pieces but am curious if anyone has holster suggestions for either the fanny pack carry or a thigh holster shorts situation.

Open to alternatives too though if anyone has any better ideas!

I recently got my first gun, a glock 43x. I have an optic for it, and am planning on purchasing a light. My dad recommended a Streamlight TLR-7X for that purpose, but I am open to other recommendations for lights.

The light aside, I am looking for some recommendations for concealed carry holsters. I had previously looked at the Phlster enigma system, but it doesn't seem like they have an option that fits both my gun and light without needing to purchase a separate holster to go with the rest of the system which just adds some confusion when this is my first time buying. They also have a ton of additional options like the sport belt, wedge, reduced size buckle that I don't know if I need, so I'm pretty lost.

My day to day I typically wear leggings and a non-form fitting t shirt that is usually on the baggier side of things if that influences the decision at all. I live in Massachusetts, and I would say people aren't used to seeing someone carrying a firearm, so the less possibility of an average person clocking it the better.

ETA: I also quickly want to mention that concealed carrying in a purse is unlikely to be something I would choose. I would like to think that I would not accidentally leave a bag with a gun behind, but as someone with adhd who can be forgetful, minimizing any sort of risk and having it directly on my body is the way I would like to go.

Hi all! I've been CC for almost 5 years now - I actually started when I was pregnant with my first, through 2 pregnancies, breastfeeding, homesteading, and onward. I have an active, farming lifestyle, and live rural.

I'm currently carrying in a crossbreed belly band with my Shield Plus at the 3/3:30 o'clock position in their kydex+leather Velcro backed holster. I'm looking at other options. I do really like the belly band, but I have a few issues:

1. Heat: I wilt above 75*, and the added heat and bulk around my middle is rough.
2. Wardrobe: I wear midi/maxi skirts and dresses for religious reasons when I go out and about. When I'm home I wear overalls on the farm or active wear when I'm staying inside. I wear at the 3ish oclock because the nature of the belly band + my anatomy means I need the curvature of my hip at the to angle the grip into the valley at my natural waist. If I carry in front of my hip or appendix, the grip is pushed and I loose all hope of concealment. I'm also still breastfeeding (tho moving to wean in the next 3-4 months), so my wardrobe has to be able to access the girls as well as the piece. Generally (both for style and placement of the belly band) I wear my skirts high waisted with either a knit tee material or button down that I'll tie or tuck to ride at my natural waist. This disguises any bumps around my middle and puts my cover garment a little higher and easier to clear.
3. Back pain: I've noticed recently that the belly band seems to be exacerbating some nerve related back pain. I wonder if this is because it has to be worn fairly tight to prevent ride up during the draw. Has anyone else experienced this?

Options I'm considering - though I'm open to suggestions!

1. Enigma. Pros: From what I've heard, really the bees knees as far as customization and concealment. Cons: price (but if it solves all my woes id eat it), wardrobe (no long dresses), potentially still putting the squeeze around my middle, therefore the heat and back discomfort. I actually made a diy enigma many years ago before I found them, with a CCW purpose belt, and a leg leash system I made with nylon webbing. It worked, but I don't have the technology for the faceplate, so it didn't really add much for concealment vs a belly band. Meaning, I still couldn't carry at any other position since I was just working with my anatomy to hide the grip. It also wasn't stretchy like a belly band, so it wasn't as comfortable.
2. Off body CCW specific sling bag. Pros: versatile for wardrobe, no pressure around middle, solves heat issue. Cons: the usual of off body. For me, I'm very diligent about not setting down my off body carry. I've carried in a fanny pack/sling before, so I'm confident I'm not going to leave it in my shopping cart. More so my concerns would be draw time, potential for broken zipper, that sort of thing. Of course of course training, training, training - but we all know extra steps add time and failure potential. I would also love recommendations for a solid bag. Ideally I'd have one with a magnetic closure, for ease of access and fail proof-ness. If not magnetic I'd prefer 2 zippers so i could potentially modify by sewing in a pull tab. With that said, the gunslinger is at the top of my list, followed by the S&W, then the Stav. Just found out about Cakes, seems to be highly recommended so I may take a closer look at them. I prefer non-tacticool and unassuming. My style is probably closest to cottage core, tho not so...Pinterest-y (regrettably).

1. Thigh/garter holster. Pros: cheap? Idk really, I've never tried one, and I am very unsure. Just adding it as I've seen them suggested. Cons: whether it'll stay in place without fiddling, inside of leg vs outside of leg, don't love the draw position (possibility of flagging femoral), hard to draw while in the move, with a babe on hip and messing with a long skirt. Of course I'd use either a kydex trigger guard or sticky holster, or my cross breed Velcro backed setup.

2. Shoulder holster. Pros: I have one, it was my first CC Holster setup. I often wear vests or layer a button up so stylistically this was easy. Super comfortable. Easily carry extra magazines. Cons: if I'm carrying a babe on my hip I'd need to set them down to draw. Tbh I just don't think my mama brain would mentally be able to do this in an actual self defense situation. It feels completely counter intuitive. This might be a bigger issue with any CC setup, so any other parents that can speak to that I'd be grateful. But ideally I'd like a setup i can finagle with one hand, even if it's slower. I've held onto it because once the kids are older i can see myself going back to it - it just really suits me, but maybe not right now.

I know all forms of CC are a tradeoff. I'm just looking for feedback or tips on these options given what I'm working with, or options I may not be considering.

This is actually my very first reddit post, woot!

I'm fairly new to firearms and have only been shooting about five years. My first pistol was a 43X, it's a fine gun. I'm looking to obtain a second which is one of my questions below.

I visit my range a few times a month and am currently serving on my church security team. My primary concern is printing. I have IWB and IWB sidecar holsters from which I train/draw, but in my EDC I CANNOT for the life of me NOT print. I'm talking Gutenberg Bible levels (probably partially my anxiety about printing more than actually printing).

So I have a few questions about printing, alternative carries, alternative handguns.

My questions are as follows:

1) I dress fairly casually, mostly Tshirts and jeans, and occasionally blouses at church. My IWB in appendix carry doesn't seem to conceal. I have purchased wedges, but I can't seem to figure them out, or find where to properly place them on the holster. The end of my grip on the 43X just seems to poke out, no matter what I do. Any advice on wedges, or perhaps how to better conceal in appendix? In the wintertime larger sweaters, hoodies, and baggy clothing make this anon issue. In the warmer weather, however, I am struggling!

2) I have purchased and returned (so far) 3 separate zippered EDC bags. They're too slow, one of them ripped immediately, another had the zipper break during dry fire practice after only owning it for a week! I'm seriously considering trying to carry with the magnetic closure bags, but the price points have me a little nervous. Grab bag, 945 Industries... im looking at 150-200 investment. The cost isn't so much an issue for me But I want to be sure that i'm spending money on a quality product that will WORK in the moment i need it to. I guess the second question really is. What are your favorite magnetic closure EDC bags??

3) For an alternative I've also considered bra holsters, namely the Flashbang brand? I like the placement, and it would work for me because i'm a little large up top... i'm honestly wondering if this is a viable EDC, and how fast, it is to draw from that location? My menopause belly is not always cooperative with appendix, so having an alternative for super bloated days would be nice.

4) and finally, while I do like my Glock and it is reliable, and i've trained with it, I am looking for a new handgun. ( AREN'T WE ALWAYS). I'm looking for something even a little smaller, but also, maybe something larger for off body carry. Specifically wondering about Sig Sauer P365 vs the XL or XMacro? I could see carrying the P365 in a bra holster or appendix with zero printing, but the extra barrel length and flatter shots on the XMacro would be nifty, especially cuz I can upgrade the magazine to 17+ in my state.

I’ve got two kids, one is still attached like a barnacle on my hip. I don’t wear jeans often and disliked the feeling of the belly band. I’m more into athleisure wear and it seems impossible to carry on my person comfortably. Thinking about the cakes bag or a fanny. Would love to know which you’ve liked/used and why. Current purse I’m using for daily wear is the Adidas Luxe crossbody bag. I wanted something smaller and not leather and I really liked the look of this bag. I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks maybe a month now and I really like it. I can’t hold all the medical items I used to in my larger bags but it’s a compromise I’m willing to make.

I’ve gone back to carrying my little officer 1911 from Colt because it just conceals so well and honestly I just love this gun. It shoots incredibly flat and it’s bananas accurate. I just installed the TMC short flat trigger shoe from 1911 parts .com and after fitting it feels incredible and allows me to have a better grip on the gun vs the long trigger shoe. I regret not doing this sooner. It completely changes the feel of the gun. I also opened up the magwell a little with some jewelers files to give it more of an open bevel and a slight ramp on the rear for easier reloading with the single stack mags.

I may install the Ledge rear sight from Heinie for the hypothetical scenario of one handed manipulation. As is the Novak rear sight I installed about 5 years ago doesn’t allow for one handed manipulation but I like the novelty of the tritium bar vs a dot or two dots. It also doesn’t tear up t shirts due to its design which is very nice.

Hi all new here, I got my concealed carry last December and have a Canik MC9 and just bought a belly band for carrying today, but now I’m wondering what to wear while I carry, I just had two kids back to back and am not in the best shape. Does anyone have suggestions for Concealed carry clothing for bigger ladies? TIA
