🌊 🌩️ 🪼 Twenty pieces. Twenty stories.

Faces & Places has received a new review from Kathy Parsons at MainlyPiano.

The review explores some of the stories behind the music: memories of Bilbao, the atmosphere of the Cantabrian coast, a mysterious journey through fog, and the graceful movement imagined in “Jellyfish Waltz.”

Kathy concludes:

“If you’re looking for something kind of different, this one just might work! Check it out!”

September has arrived—and so has SEPTEMBER.
This piece explores the colour and flexibility of five wind instruments, moving from rhythmic passages to a more reflective centre before returning to its opening energy.

🌌 Nine images. Nine moods. One musical journey.

Volume 9 is an instrumental album for piano, cello and clarinet, where each composition begins with a different image, experience or state of mind.

From the changing colours of Stained Glass and the sensation of flight in Balloon Ride, to the Cantabrian Sea in Seaside View and the vastness of About Nebulae and Stars, the music moves between landscapes, memories and imagination.

🎧 Listen to the album and, if it speaks to you, consider supporting the music by purchasing it.

Heroic Knight Saga: The Shore at the End of the World (piano solo composition)

A place perpetually in twilight. The vast ocean reaches out endlessly, disappearing into the horizon. Crumbling ruins are strewn about the shore and some stone pillars reach out of the water in the distance, but most of the ancient structures that used to be here have fallen into the sea. There's a tavern and an inn for travelers passing through and a few houses for local residents, but not much else. Though many have set out to discover what's beyond this place, magic cannot reach far enough to see if anything exists on a farther shore and any ships that set out always reach the same impassable, never-ending storm and must return. As far as anyone knows, the world ends here.

Solstice. a "Shadows and Whispers of the Sun"

A work created this summer during the solstice, where the sun comes to a stand still.

Solsticea and Solsticeb are an attempt, to suggest shadows, whispers undulating and moving mysteriously, standing as giants beside and small sun, who is tiny in comparison. Every else comes to a victual stand still, ,, nothing rotates, other movements are greatly slowed down like a giant clock coming to a halt.

The instruments are the orchestra, sound processing and electronics, chants and voices:)

Great stories don't always happen in extraordinary places.

Sometimes they are hidden in a morning, a journey, a conversation, a memory or a moment of solitude.

Snapshots of Life Vol.1 transforms these fragments of everyday life into 12 instrumental compositions—a musical diary without words.

New score video for this song I wrote for a solo album. This piece had a lot of imagery to me of a sort of mysterious, ancient sort of place. I really love the aesthetic of ruins reclaimed by nature.

PURE MUSIC (thought)

When music is not a technique, it is an image; on the left, the image; on the right, the technique. The closer one gets to the technique, the less one sees the figure.

Analysis of the track ‘Rest Room’

There is a lot more happening in a quiet piece than you might expect.

In “Rest Room”, I deliberately avoided strong contrasts and dramatic development. Instead, the music evolves through harmony, texture, rhythm and subtle changes in orchestration.

The result is music that feels stable and peaceful, but never completely motionless.

I've opened up the composition process in this new article. Read it, listen to the piece, and tell me: can you hear the “movement” now that you know where to look?
