Cork City Getting full fibre WiFi in the city centre?

Hello I’ve been trying to get FTTH in the city centre and it keeps getting rejected. Does anyone know of any places that can actually recieve fibre that you can rent or how to get it installed?

I put in an application with Vodafone and then about 3 weeks later they said engineers reviewed and there is no Fibre cabling nearby so they have to cancel the order. I find this bizarre as I’m right in city centre.

Any help appreciated.

Local Businesses Alloy Wheel Refurb?

Hello bais and byors, have ye any experience with having alloys refurbished? And can ye recommend somewhere around the city or East Cork?

I'm looking to get mine done as they're badly kerb rashed with a few deep scratches. They're the original wheels of an old Merc I bought last year so I'd prefer not to replace them.

I'm not looking for a miracle (tbh I don't even know what's possible or what to expect) and I don't expect them restored to factory finish.

I just want them smartened up a bit for a reasonable price and with the knowledge that the wheels or the car won't be damaged.

Fair coloured greyhound with a brown leather collar. Was walking out towards Sacred Heart and I'd say will likely go out Lee road direction from how skittish it was.

Physio Ballincollig or West Side of City

Crocked at the min ...assymetries top to bottom....had a lot of success before living elsewhere with physio's that don't hold back and put me on a training regime of circuits and compound exercises improving functional movement rather than just addressing the direct cause. Proper workout stuff...quick consultation every session here's you next routine ...here's how you do them approach..almost like a personal trainer.

Function physio on Penrose quay sounds like what i am looking for ...but it's a bit of a trek to get in.

Is there anywhere else closer around Ballincollig area that take the same approach.

Car Broke Down 👎🏻

Hi,

Not from Cork and our land over discovery sport broke down, no surprise there.

Was towed tonight to Ardfallen towings yard.

Need to find a garage to repair it, might be the clutch slave cylinder gone.

Can anyone recommend a good garage to repair it during our holiday?

Local Businesses T Shirt Printing

Does anyone know of a company in Cork, ideally around the city, that can do very quick (before Friday) t-shirt printing (image and some text on the back and front)?

Most of the companies I can find on Google lead to very undetailed or outdated looking sites so some real life tip offs would be great!

Local Help me remember this recurring sketch on a show on RTE about 14 years ago

I have a vague recollection of a recurring skit on a show that featured two Cork based characters, I'm sure it was a daughter and her mother and they were perpetual dole heads.

Always wearing bathrobes and smoking, I'm sure it was around 2012 because I remember people talking about it when I first left school.

I've not much other details but hopefully I'm not just schizoposting into the void

East Cork Trouble with parking.

Sorry for asking here, I'm trying to find a solution for everyone.

In the neighborhood we're living people usually park their cars in the side of the road. We have 2 cars one is used more than the other.

I'm trying to park the less active one in different places often so it doesn't stay front of someone's house for too long. There's a public parking 2.2km from here but i was told you cannot park there permanently... There's no other parking nearby.

People are getting agitated with the second car, in a public road, even if they also use 2 cars sometimes. The moment I park someone will say something if it's close to their house.

"Oh it's moving again, finally"

"This is were i live and have 2 cars, this is ridiculous"

"It's been 2 days, are you gonna move it ?"

"Can you move it further back ?"

"Take it further back it's too close to mine"

4-5 different people. Sometimes people will look through blinds the moment someone parks. Like honestly Jesus Christ.

I've seen people using cones and bins to hold a spot right outside their place, which is illegal in the first place if I'm right.

Again I'm not doing anything illegal i just want a solution to get this over with. Also trying to be considerate but seems people will come with torches next time... 😖

Cork County Leap Card capping on Irish Rail for Cork

Every time I take the train to Cobh, Mallow or Midleton from Cork city and use a Leap card, it triggers the “capping” part in my Leap app, and I am never charged over 6 euros per day - it doesn’t work when I board a Cork bus, just a train. It is also written I have a capping at 24 euros per week, and I can see the amount progressing in the app over the week (but I never needed to do 4 returns in the week so I never tried it out).

I was trying to find the price conditions online and I can’t find anything! It says in various official sources that there is no Leap capping for Cork trains, and the weekly/monthly passes are way more expensive than 6/24 euros.

The Leap capping seems only applicable to buses in Cork, and these are not the prices. 6/24 seems to be Dublin capping, but I am getting it in Cork.

I am very confused because I can definitely see the 6 euros thing in my card history, so I am not misremembering.

Does anyone know more about that and where I could find an explanation for these prices?

Surgeon & clinic recommendations for rhinoplasty

Hi I’m new to cork, but would love to start consulting with different doctors about rhinoplasty. Not looking into nose filler. I’ll need decent recommendations please as I want to get quotes and meet them in person to feel as if I can trust them. :)

News American Big Rigs

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know what's up with the 3 or so American style big rigs driving around the Mahon area are?

They have custom paint work on them and they're blowing the pipes and horns. I actually really like it, but I can't predict which roads they're driving on to take a picture.

Is there a show going on? I assume maybe it's in honour of Dolly, but I can't find anything online.

Loft building Cornmarket

Post image
55 Upvotes

I noticed that the Loft (furniture store) building on Cornmarket Street is currently up for sale, or possibly already sold. Would anyone know whether its façade is on the protected structures list, meaning it would have to be retained no matter what goes in there? Just wondering, as it’s a really nice front and it would be a pity if it disappeared. Thanks!

Good hairdressers to get ghost roots done in Cork

Decided to go all in on purple ghost roots for no other reason than boredom, but have no clue about hairdressers being a 22yo man.

Any suggestions would be great :)

Overnight Kent/Bus/✈️

Another Cork question. 😘

I fly into Cork Airport at a few minutes after midnight. Train from Kent at 6:00 am Saturday morning. But both bus & train stations are closed over night.

Thought i'd try a hostel but they don't have checkin past 11 pm. 😣

Is the 5:30 am #226 bus from the Airport that gets me to Kent Station 10 mins before the train dependable?? Looks like overnight at airport is allowed.

I have NO BAGGAGE.

Worst part about this is today I turn 66! But of course don't have my free travel pass in hand yet. 🤣 Darn it! (NO ONE has been more excited to turn 66 than me! Road trip!)

Thx

Susan
