Advice needed
(I apologize if this is against the rules; if it is could someone direct me on a proper place to post it.)
So due to economic conditions- I need to find a way to supplement my income and there’s a ton of gig work apps. Most of which involve driving.
I’m getting denied time and time again due to an accident in 2022 that I was not at fault for (rear ended by an 18 wheeler) I try to explain this and dispute the background checks but have had no luck. Starting to really feel bad that I didn’t sue the trucker that hit me back then but it’s too late now and it’s screwing me out of work.
Has anyone else dealt with this and were you able to get to a point where you could start using apps like roadie, spark, DoorDash, etc.?

Have you seen your person motor vehicle report? Might be called something different in your state or country. You should verify it explicitly states you’re not at fault.
Your only options until this gets cleared up is too have a close friend for family member sign up for door dash/ Uber Eats and you use their account. Those are the only two apps I’m aware of that don’t verify your face when working.

Okay; and it just shows accident it doesn’t label it as at fault or not at fault.
I do remember having to go back and forth with the police department because the original officer said it was mutual fault (idk how the hell it’s mutual when I got rear ended and was casually chilling in my lane waiting for traffic to keep moving) but that was quickly corrected and even my insurance company stated I was not at fault

That’s probably what’s stopping you. You can appeal the motor vehicle records or whatever it’s called. I’m unsure of the process but research things like this is one of the things ai excels at. Just ask ai a couple of questions like should it include not at fault for your state and how to appeal it

I’m in VA and everything says it’s just gonna show the accident regardless of who’s at fault. When I disputed it with checkr they didn’t do anything - and after the adverse action email from the apps i haven’t been able to get anywhere with trying to start an appeal.
Should I call the dmv?

By federal law, before a gig app can officially reject or deactivate you based on a background check, they must send you a Pre-Adverse Action Notice via email. [ 1, 2] This email will contain a copy of your background check report and a link to the Checkr Candidate Portal. [ 1, 2] You usually have a 10- to 14-day window to respond before they finalize the rejection. [ 1] Did you receive this email? If so respond and request a manual review and include proof you were not at fault.
Your only other options is to get a person on the phone for one of the gig apps and have them manually review your report. This will more than likely take a lot of phone calls and emails.
Alternatively Virginia should remove it after year 3

Both Door dash and Uber Eats do the facial rec too be able to work on their platforms. Maybe you just haven’t seen this yet? They have it here in Nc.

I haven’t done door dash in about 2 months but when I turned in my app they didn’t ask me to verify my face. I could allegedly give my phone or sign into my account on another phone and let a relative deliver for me. Not that I would.

Confused on how you getting rear-ended is a thing that comes up on a background check. Seem there's more to the story
