I've pursued a bunch of courses in law on Coursera to keep myself updated in the field, from the likes of U Penn, Cambridge etc. I recently enrolled for a course by Yale University and was extremely disappointed to find that the entire video course material was delivered by an AI Avatar, and not an actual person, which makes it impossibly jarring to pay attention to anything that is said. And this is Yale. Part of the value of taking a course from a university like Yale is presumably getting some exposure to the expertise, perspective, and intellectual voice of the people actually teaching there. If I wanted an AI-generated avatar reading instructional material to me, I’m not sure I’d be paying for a Coursera Plus subscription to begin with.

Anyone else facing the same issue?

Is there any free course certificates available in coursera now? Without paying any money, I want any certificate possible in coursera

Has anyone noticed an increase in the number of AI-generated courses on Coursera? I am going through a course right now. It seems so scripted, with a structure and vocabulary that seem very robotic. Words like "surfacing", " pre-mortem," and "post-mortem". The videos seem very stilted and soulless.

I don't really understand what to do or where to click. The coursera chat bot says there should be an enroll button somewhere but all I see is this blue boxy button with no text on it that does nothing when I click it

So I am trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. I’ve learned over the years that I enjoy office work and being at a desk, but I do not enjoy working with the public or customer service roles in general. I like being in the back office doing my own thing, unbothered (I’m an introvert). With that being said, I have no experience in AP, quickbooks, and excel. So I have been thinking of taking online courses to gain certifications in these areas because I’m highly interested in landing an AP role or just a data entry role or something that will have me at my desk and out the way.

I’ve looked at Intuit for bookkeeping & coursera for excel & AP courses. Are these sites even worth it though? Of course I know it won’t be the same as going to an actual college or something but I’m looking at what I can afford right now. I guess I just need some advice or feedback on others who are in the same boat or have experience in these fields already who can give me some insight so I don’t waste my time. Thanks in advance. Just a girl who doesn’t have much guidance and second guesses all my decisions 🙃

I got two licenses from hec dlsei for coursera One i didn't used and it got revoked and was given to other person on the waiting list, but after sometime the license got activated again and now i have two licenses. Since only name appears on certificate and name can be changed in settings; i was thinking i can give that license to my friend Would that create a problem for me?

I cancelled my subscription within the 14 days and am attempting to request a refund.

When I chat with Cora, the chatbot, it asks me to provide the date my subscription was cancelled. When I provide the date, it says: "I'm sorry, I'm uncertain that I have the correct answer, can you try and rephrase your question?"

I have tried starting multiple new chats, and every time it gets stuck in the same loop. I am also unable to contact an agent or a real person.

So my college has given us coursera access to complete certain courses from there as part of our degree. We have to complete these courses by 31st August. Now the issue is one of these courses is session based. The latest session is over and the next session starts on September 14. Till then the videos are accessible but the graded quizzes are locked. This is an issue for me as I have to complete the course and get the completion certificate by 31st August. Anyway to unlock the quiz in such a situation?

My wife has been a stay at home mom for about twenty years and wants to get a job in project management. She started the project management certificate on Coursera and believes she can get a job as a project manager by the time she is done. Everything that I am researching tells me that the Coursera certificate by itself is not enough to land a job and that you need actual education or experience. Can anyone provide any insight?

The communications class seems to have a free trial label on it but then I click free trial and... I don't see how to activate the free trial?

For the past few months, I've been taking the computer support specialist course, and while I understand some things in the moment, I don't retain much of the information in the end. I'm worried that even if I do finish this course somehow, it won't feel like I ever actually learned anything in the long run. Has anyone else felt this in the beginning and come out fine on the other end? I would just hate to feel like I'm wasting my time and money.

Hello, I'm having trouble finding this answer online, and coursera is taking a long time to respond. Does anyone know how to speed up a class/module/session?

I should clarify im still in the free trial period, and im not trying to rush through and complete a program in that time (even if i wasn't working, it looking impossible). I just want to feel likeu got the most out if this week so that i can better judge if coursera is the right investment for me.

Here's the issue. My course has 7 classes, furst is broken down into 4 modules. These are entry level modules, the type of thing that takes an afternoon to complete. However, its given me a week, for each, and I cant seem to unlock any graded or practice assignments for module 2,3, and 4. If I open it up on the app, it tells me its locked by an instructor. And the website says it will unlock when the session begins..... how do I begin that session? Module 1 is done, I even went back and retook the test so it was at 100% (passed the first time, but checked to see if it needed 100%).

Now im effectively stuck. I can still watch lessons, but since I cant do any coursework, theres no difference between what I have, and just auditing the class.

I have asked coursera about this, but im hoping the larger community just knows the answer

I am currently working through the Google Cybersecurity Certificate and need to access the Linux labs on Qwiklabs/Google Skills. Whenever I try to accept the Terms of Service to access my account, I get hit with a cross-device reCAPTCHA that asks me to scan a QR code with my phone.

I scan it, complete the verification on my mobile browser, and my phone says "verification completed, you can return to your browser." But when I look back at my desktop, the Google Skills page just throws a red error banner: "reCAPTCHA verification failed, please try again."

I have been stuck in this loop for two days. I even tried bypassing the cross-device prompt by logging in and accepting the terms directly on my phone's browser, but it does the exact same thing—it redirects to a verification site, says successful, and then fails when returning to the original page.

Here is everything I have already tried that did not work:

• Verified that my phone and PC are connected to the exact same Wi-Fi network.
• Used Incognito/Private browsing to rule out extension or ad-blocker interference.
• Disabled all VPNs.
• Cleared all site data and cookies specifically for Qwiklabs and Google Skills.
• Used keyboard navigation (Tab key) to try and force a standard image CAPTCHA instead of the QR code.
• Tried a completely clean browser (Microsoft Edge) with no extensions or history.
• Switched both devices to a mobile data hotspot to get a new IP address and rule out my local ISP.
• Confirmed my Windows system time/date is perfectly synced.

Has anyone else doing the Google certs run into this Qwiklabs verification bug recently? Is there any known workaround, or do I just have to wait for Google to fix their servers? Any help is appreciated!

The Professional Certificate consists of 9 courses.

If I apply for and receive Financial Aid separately for each of the 9 courses, then complete all 9, will I receive the overall Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate, or will I only receive the individual certificates for each course?

Coursera’s course pages say the individual courses are part of the Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate, and that completing a course can earn a shareable certificate.

I’ve also seen people say that you need to enroll in the Professional Certificate itself to receive the final Google credential.

Has anyone actually completed all 9 courses using Financial Aid applied separately to each course? Did you receive the overall Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate?

I’m specifically looking for answers from people who have actually done this, rather than guesses. Thanks!

To anyone who is thinking about the Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate. I found it worthwhile to take. I plan to sit for the CompTIA Security + test next month. I was introduced to SQL and Python in this course and have bought additional material to expand my knowledge on these subjects. Please be aware that this course does take time to complete. Don't rush it.

Was doing peer review and most of them are great artist as they're stealing (plagiarizing) ) left, right & center!

One of the common question on this sub-reddit is about the worth of the courses, and then there is this lot, who is plagiarizing copy-pasting the whole assignment, I really wonder have they figured out a way to use the certificates in some monetarily significant manner, or they're simply lost cause.
