I bought this motorcycle from my boss about 1 1/2 months ago and it’s been riding just fine. I bought it before I knew how to ride a motorcycle but I learned pretty quickly because I have general knowledge about manual shifting from when I got my CDL.

The reason for the post is I went to get on my bike today and my foot shifter/clutch thing is not connected to my bike anymore. I see where the pin/bolt that connects the shifter snapped or broke, and I am having trouble finding a replacement part/assembly because I don’t know what it’s called.

I’m attaching photos and a video if anyone could please help me out. It’s also leaking now. I just drive it last night with zero issues whatsoever.

I just realized this morning on my way to work that I definitely need to rejet my carb and I never done this before. I was hitting 90+ and the bike started losing some power.

So how does the sizing work? Instead of doing something this major on my one carb, I'm planning on buying a new one and size that one and install it to avoid any mistakes that may put my bike out of commission. Is there any down sides to going to large on the jets? Does it have to be 100% perfect to function well? I don't know anything 😭

And since I'm already resizing I figured I might as well mod the air intake while I'm at it. I included pictures of the carb, air intake I'm currently eyeing, and my current exhaust.

Hey everyone, I'm considering getting a XV1900 and wanted to hear from current or past owners. Since these have been out of production for a while, how do they hold up in 2026? Is sourcing parts getting difficult? Any known issues to watch out for (3rd gear, fuel pump, etc.)? Does the lack of a 6th gear or liquid cooling bother you on long highway trips or in the street?

I’ve been riding for 3 years and I’m looking to buy my first Harley. I’ve been browsing the used market for a Sportster 1200. Mid 90’s to early 2000’s. (I’d like to have a carbureted one.) Is there anything in this year range I should look out for? What’s considered high mileage on an evo engine? What’s too much to pay? I’m experienced with wrenching on cars so I don’t mind having to fix up a bike, but I don’t want to end up with something that’s going to need major work. Any advice is appreciated.

I posted this in some Harley specific groups but if you have any suggestions on a different type of cruiser, I’m open to that too. Currently ride an old Honda CL350.

Me and a couple riding buddies did approx. 200 mile ride r/t to Morrow Mountain State Park in NC. It was toasty, hit some rain but it was still a great ride. Got asked, "why'd you go with Indian?" I replied, "because everyone has a Harley." I like it. Thats all that matters. I don't hate Harleys. Never owned one. I actually was considering a Sport Glide. I like my '19 Springfield Dark Horse.

Picked up an 11,000 mile V Star 1100 about a month ago and it rode great for a week or two. One day I gave it some throttle and it started sputtering about halfway up the powerband, thought I was out of gas at first but reserve didn’t change it, feels like the bike is starving itself of gas. At first it wasn’t bad and would only do it sometimes so I still rode it to work a lot. I was trying to diagnose it, made sure gas cap and petcock worked, replaced fuel filter and pump, inspected the easier spark plug to pull out, sprayed intake boots looking for leaks. Nothing ever changed so now I’m up to the carbs. I’ve gotten into the bowls but everything looks pretty clean just like everything else I’ve looked at on the bike. Should I just clean it all real good and stick it back in and hope it works? Is there anything else that might be causing this issue? New to carbs so this is very different for me.

I finally got the cap off and turned the fuel screw a little bit and regained some torque. It's not quite how it was with the stock 2 into 1 but it's a noticeable difference now. The problem is I still have the same decel pops as before. Do I just keep turning until they stop or is this a permanent feature of aftermarket slip ons?

On our Sunday ride we stopped at a restaurant and I noticed we both put our helmets on the chairs. But I’ve been on many rides where riders put their helmets right on the table.

My question for the community is where do you stand on this? I have a cheap Bell but are guys really leaving their $600 lid on the floor?

Right after passing my test, I went straight from a Z650 to a VN1500, nearly double the weight. I had a lot of respect for it at first, but honestly, after three days that was settled. At my height and weight, the weight barely registers once you’re moving. What actually takes practice is everything below walking pace: manoeuvring, U-turns, pulling away on a hill. That’s where you feel every kilo.
What surprised me most was how much less you shift. All that torque low down changes the whole way you ride, you flow rather than work.
2,000 km in 12 weeks isn’t routine, but it’s enough to get a feel for the bike.

I think cruisers look really really cool, so I'm considering getting one as my first motorbike.

But what are really the pros and cons here? And why have cruisers decreased so much in popularity over the years?
