Covid has been hard on all of us. Some more than others. It has been a year of staying inside and behind a camera. No socializing on campus, no hanging out and getting boba. The effects of covid-19 has been studied worldwide, and I am not just talking about getting the virus itself but the consequences of the isolated living we have had for so long now.
We at the CSUN Discord are trying to help students to cope with the new reality we are living in while the world adjusts to dealing with the multiple strains of Covid being fought against.
Come hang out and make some new friends. Here you can chat, socialize, get help with homework, hear the latest about CSUN and much more. We also have partnered with several clubs for advertising so you can see all there events being hosted all in one place.
Hope to see you soon: https://discord.gg/t4Mw8m3
When you join the server make sure to type your Major, Current Year(Freshman, Junior, ect) and whether you live on campus or not. The mod team will then let you see the rest of the channels.

Transferred to CSUN two semesters ago and honestly I'm kind of embarrassed to say I go here. I knew going in that CSUN isn't a UCLA or UCI, it's not selective, they basically accept anyone. Still wasn't prepared for how incompetent and braindead most of the people in my classes are. Every class discord is the same thing, people asking questions that are literally answered in the syllabus or in the email the professor sent that week or day. And most of the time, the questions they're asking are just common sense. It's even more obvious in class, barely any critical thinking happening, and test scores are so bad that basically every exam gets a massive curve just so half the class doesn't fail. I put a little effort into studying and still do fine, while most of the class are failing or barely passing. Maybe it's because I'm a business major, but the material itself isn't that hard, it's basic math and concepts. I'd call myself a pretty average student honestly, not smart or great at academics in anyway. But compared to my experience at community college, CSUN feels more like a ghetto high school rather than an actual university. And it's not just me noticing this either, I've brought it up to other students in my classes who agree, and even asked a few of my professors directly, and they've said the same thing, that the quality of students has definitely gone down.

Hey everyone, I’m looking to meet more Korean students at CSUN and was wondering if there are any Korean student organizations, clubs, or groups that are active right now. I haven’t really come across one yet.
If anyone knows of one or has any recommendations for where to meet other Korean students, I’d appreciate it!

We purchased a parking pass for my son on 8/11. He and several of his dorm mates received parking tickets on 8/19. Apparently his parking permit was effective on 8/20, although that wasn’t clear at the time of purchase. He also had an email from housing stating he could park anywhere on campus to move in if he had a parking permit, which is why we went online to purchase one. It wasn’t clear at the time that it wouldn’t go into effect immediately. Super lame that they went around the day before 8/20 and ticketed everyone! Is this a typical experience with CSUN parking enforcement?

Hey Matadors:
Has anyone who rented out the new graduation gown for commencement ever turn it in? I been out of state and just got back. I received my degrees through the mail and I’m wondering if it’s too late to turn it in on campus. What happens if they don’t receive the gown? Also, I used a pre-paid card to rent it out so is anything gonna happen if I don’t return it?

The vending machines on campus are not owned by the campus.
It takes coins/dollars every few transactions and doesn't return correct change.
Considering how many people use them, I wouldn't be surprised if it was making a ton of money from just ripping people off.

Hi everyone! I’m a CSUN journalism student reporting for The Daily Sundial about how financial aid delays or issues may be affecting students’ ability to stay enrolled in their Fall 2026 classes.
I’m looking to speak with CSUN students who have experienced—or are currently dealing with—situations such as being dropped from classes because tuition was not paid by the deadline, waiting for FAFSA, grants, or loans to appear in their account, or having trouble getting back into the original class sections after being disenrolled.
The story will focus on students’ experiences and the real-life impact of delayed or missing aid—not just the administrative process.
I’m especially interested in hearing from students about things like:
Being disenrolled from one or more classes because of an unpaid balance. Waiting for FAFSA, loans, grants, scholarships, verification, or an appeal to be processed. Being unable to re-enroll because a required class or original section was full. Paying tuition from savings, credit cards, borrowed money, or other funds to keep classes. Stress about being unable to afford classes, books, transportation, rent, food, or other expenses while aid is pending. Trying to contact Financial Aid, Student Accounts, the Registrar, or other campus offices for help. Whether you received enrollment protection, were told you did not qualify, or were unsure of your status. Any solutions, accommodations, or support that helped—or did not help
I can create zoom link for the interview. Or schedule a phone call. And it won't take long. Only 15-20 minutes. And you can stay anonymous if you so wish.
I am available on Monday from 8am to 10am and then from 12pm to 2:00pm and then 4pm to 5pm. I am also available on Tuesday and Thursday any time between 8am and 3pm. I am also available on Wednesday from 4pm to 5pm.
Help would be appreciated. feel free to DM me.

Reported it to Lost and Found already but I managed to lose my wallet at some point between walking from one of the stores at the USU to the library. It’s a black wallet with my driver’s license and usual cards and whatnot. If anyone has seen it or picked it up please let me know or take it to the lost and found. The name of the license is Jorge.

So on certain days I have all classes in the art buildings and I only have a 15 min gap in-between my classes. I know there's a microwave in the Nest but I don't have time to walk there, warm up my lunch and walk back. Are there any microwaves for students to use in the Northside of campus that would be closer?

I had a late enrollment date and I’m #10 on the waitlist. The class is full (50/50). I asked my advisor, and he told me to contact the department chair for a permission number. I contacted the department chair, but he said he can’t give me one because the class is full and told me to ask the professor. The professor told me the waitlist will automatically add the next student, but she’ll cut it off soon. All three know that I’m graduating this spring and this specific course is a requirement for my major.
What should I do now?

I want to get my Masters (I’m currently a junior at CSUN) but I’m not sure whether to apply for the program after my completing my bachelors, or to just get my MBA after law school. Any advice would be appreciated 💕
Hope everyone’s 1st week went well! I wanted to ask if anyone knew any psychology advisors that could be helpful with getting permission numbers, I emailed the professor but they haven’t replied back and I’m in position 8 for the waitlist 😓

I'm a psych major and I'm graduating next semester. I'm trying to get everything together for my grad school applications, but I've heard that you need to have good experience to get into a good program. I honestly don't care where I get in, as long as I get accepted.
I just feel like I've wasted my entire college years only focusing on school and academics. Many of my other classmates have better GPAs than me and have more experience. I've started to wonder if maybe this path isn't right for me and I should just give up, but I've invested too much time and money into this major.
