Any help with knock off controller stick drift?

As in the video, stick just behaves weirdly, even when together so it’s not just because it’s taken apart, no clue what to do.

I’m very new to all this, I soft modded my wii for the first time the other day and I had this controller lying around and I tried it out and it was drifting, so I took it apart and wanted to see if there was any obvious flaw. I’ll add photos of the controller so someone can identify it in the comments, thanks for the help hopefully!

PS I understand completely if this isn’t a good place to ask for help, and I know it’s a knockoff so I can’t expect anything great, but if there’s anything really easy I can do that’d be great.

Probably not much you can do. You can maybe remove the joystick and use compressed air to try and remove grime or dirt, or 91 isopropyl alcohol. But, I think it might just be a bad joystick.

You can try replacing it and all that but it sounds like more trouble than its worth. You should just go to places like ebay or fb marketplace to find used/like new gc controllers.

I think it's probably just the 3rd party controller. You can try cleaning the stick, but I don't have high hopes. On an original controller, it would be easy to replace the stick box, but on this one, I don't know how.

stick drift is a pain in the ass on a good controller. this thing was $5 and worth it.

So you could try buying some BW100 electric contact cleaner and spray it into the potentiometer But I'd still recommend just putting that money/time waiting for it to ship to you towards an OEM controller

You could potentially remove the joystick, then use compressed air + Q-tip with isopropyl alcohol to clean the stickbox and the potentiometers. That might fix the drift, cheap too.

If you have to desolder the stickbox to do it, or can't access the potentiometers by unclipping them from the stickbox, it's not worth the time fixing unfortunately.

I've tried my best on the same motherboard. If the stick is bad it won't get better. I swapped a third party shell that felt okay with another one that had an ok stick. Despite all my best efforts, nothing can come close to even OEM. Sorry but you'll have to do your best until you can just get something better
