Hello r/davinciresolve! Here's this month's Hardware Thread! In the interest of consolidating hardware questions, we've introduced monthly threads dedicated exclusively to hardware. u/whyareyouemailingme has finally given in and started scheduling these threads.
This is the thread to ask if your computer meets the minimum requirements, ask what part to upgrade, and other general hardware questions. Future FAQ Fridays may still cover hardware & peripherals, depending on how frequently questions get asked.
In addition to subreddit rules, there is one additional thread guideline we're introducing:
Minimum system requirements for Mac OS
Minimum system requirements for Windows
Minimum system requirements for Windows for Arm
Minimum system requirements for Linux
Minimum system requirements for iPadOS
*Rocky is the current film and television industry standard distro for numerous VFX/color correction programs. Resolve may run on other distros but is only officially supported on and Rocky.
**Mod Note: This must be the proprietary driver; open-source drivers may cause issues.
The Resolve Host (Sending Video) must have the following hardware and software requirements for DaVinci Remote Monitor:
The Resolve Client (Receiving Video) must have the following hardware and software requirements for DaVinci Remote Monitor:
Is there/will there be an Android version?
This is speculation, but it's likely that what makes the iPad version possible is the Apple Silicon architecture and the pre-existing OS similarities to macOS. It seems unlikely that BMD would offer Android support in the near future, and it may have similar codec licensing limitations to the Linux version - no H.26x support without the Studio version, and no AAC audio.
There is also too much variability for Android tablets for accurate remote monitoring. No other comparable solution (ClearView, Streambox, etc.) offers an Android solution.
Can I use Integrated Graphics on Linux if I don't have an NVIDIA or AMD GPU?
Nope, and BMD has no plans to support them.
How do I know if my GPU supports CUDA 12
You can visit the Wikipedia page for CUDA, find the specific CUDA version you need and the corresponding compute capability, then find your GPU. CUDA 11 requires a compute capability of 5.0-9.0.
How low can my system specs go compared to these?
A while back, we did a series of FAQ Fridays on different levels of hardware setups. For the subreddit's bare minimum recommendations, check out the Consumer Hardware Setup FAQ Friday.
How much is a Speed Editor/Is it a good deal to get the Speed Editor/License combo?
Back in October 2021, Blackmagic Design announced that the Speed Editor's introductory bundle with a Studio license for $295 was being discontinued. The MSRP for a Speed Editor is now $395, and it still comes with a Studio license. Some retailers may have the introductory bundle in stock, but it's not a guarantee. More information about the price changes for the Speed Editor and other panels can be found in this press release from BMD.
Why am I not seeing picture when I import media (NOT MEDIA OFFLINE)?
Some remote softwares or GPUs have "fake" virtual display drivers that can cause issues with Resolve not displaying media or generators. More details and a solution from Dwaine can be found on the forums at this link.

I really like this transparent square shape overlay effect used in the first second of this video. How do I recreate it in DaVinci Resolve?

I was annoyed that there's no notification on Resolve. Found the documentation and did this. It's customizable with both sound and message as it's basically a text. 😊

This is my first time using this editing program, I was used to being able to keep both the media content panel and the editing panel open at the same time, but with this program, I don't know how to keep both active without one closing when I try to open the other. (I´m not rlly good with english so, sorry if i not being very clear)

Even with the latest DaVinci update, Mac users are still experiencing color and contrast differences between Rec.709A and Rec.709 Scene.

Question:
How would you go about transitioning from this part to the other clip?
Ideally, I would have them curve with the paper, but is that even possible? Anyways, cheers!

In the bmd main web store, it will costs me 425$ to buy it from the PH, which is really steep due to our new taxing laws. And after scouring the threads and internet for a while, i found two sources which I can buy it cheaper. But I don't know the legitimacy of them so I'm looking for opinions.
Price from BMD Webpage:

One is ToolFarm
https://www.toolfarm.com/buy/blackmagic_design_davinci_resolve_studio/
the other is
Would like to know which is safer to buy?
PS: MODS delete the post if posting links is against the rules. thank you!

Hello, I was trying to make subtitles and when I tried to go back and edit the text it would not let me. How can I edit what I already wrote down?

Hi Lads,
I have shot all my videos in 60fps (slowed to 30fps to make it smooth) in log.
I have tried planner tracker and intelli tracker but the tracking does not work at all.
For planner tracker I have used all the modes and put the tracker point in different areas as well, but it looks like the gif attached.
Intelli tracker works a bit better but it still looks warped or not smooth.
I have shot so many versions with different settings but nothing looks smooth.
I use dji rs4 gimbal in PTF and FPV mode. PTF is better but not smooth as expected.
Please let me know if there are any settings to be changed in my camera or gimbal,
Regards
TLDR: Point tracking not smooth after repeated methods and various camera/gimbal settings.

Hey guys, wanted to ask does anyone know like a method to export a long video in parts and then combine them in DaVinci Resolve? Cause I have a 2 hour video which really like to crash in the last 30 mins. It happened a couple of times already and one time there was 25 seconds left till it'd be done...
So I was wondering if I should render separate clips like 30 mins intervals and then combine all of them in the timeline again already rendered and do a final render.
Specs: 5600x, 9060xt 16gb, 32gb ddr4
Version of DaVinci Resolve: 21.0.4 Build 5

Hi everyone, I am very new to color grading.
We shot a clip using the wrong camera settings by mistake. Would it be possible to "save" the color using color grading? It was, unfortunately our best take :')
(I've added what the image was supposed to look like for reference in the second pic).
Thanks a lot!

Audio is visible, clearly, but there's absolutely no sound. Nothing is muted. I tried every medial file on my pc, inccluding mp3. Most of the media is obs recordings, still no difference. I've exhausted all options. Tried restarting, tried reinstalling, pretty much everything.
Idk what to do...
I'm using Resolve 21. Windows 11.

Spent around ~1.5 weeks on this project, primarily using AE for texturing and mograph, and DaVinci as an NLE for SFX, Magic Mask and just in general finishing touches.
Dealing w/ Rotobrush and audio on AE can definitely be a pain sometimes, so this just makes the process easier on me.
Essentially, I export a lossless ProRes master from AE and drop it into Resolve, then I do my sfx and final additional fusion tasks just in case using adjustment layers. Also, even though I used/learnt DaVinci first, I always forget how perfect the audio sync is (as it should be lol)
Has anyone else moved to a hybrid setup? Maybe with other softwares? Curious how you guys handle the round-tripping or if there are any specific tools in Resolve that would make this handoff even smoother.

Does DaVinci need a strong PC to run effects smoothly, or at least maintain 30 FPS during playback when effects are enabled? Cuz I have an ASUS TUF A15 with an RTX 4050 6GB, Ryzen 7 7435HS, and 16GB DDR5 RAM, and it can barely run effects smoothly during playback

I want to change the border color of this specific text style to black (its currently blue), but i dont want to create a whole new Pre-set and set everything up. Also i want to keep the words coming up right as the word is said (in the video), so basically just how this Preset already is. The thing is up until now i have to manually change every border from blue to black :( Help would be very much appreciated

New to da Vinci but managed to make a short video with ease after figuring out the basics and I’m very happy with my end result. The major problem is that after exporting/rendering the video quality is noticeably worse almost to the point where it seems like 25% less sharp. Even waaay worse is that I tried to upload the video to YouTube and the quality is just a nightmare pile of blurry mess not even close to the original I see on the software. I uploaded using the highest possible settings but the final product is seriously a pixelated mess you can’t see any details. How do I upload to YouTube without such a massive quality loss? Using da Vinci 19.1.4 on a iMac. I can’t upload screenshots because reddit isn’t allowing me to post this on a computer only my phone.
