Rules Question Does casting a spell while in melee require any special modifier?
Enemy wizard casted while based with party Dwarf. Any roll penalty?

Concentration check if the wizard or elf gets hit or otherwise has his concentration broken

By the book, I don't think so. "Realistically"? I think it's totally reasonable for there to be either some kind of penalty to the wizard or a bonus to their opponent, for trying to cast a spell while simultaneously trying to dodge a swinging axe and pummeling shield.

Under Spell Checks (~p106) "Concentration: Some spells require concentration. While concentrating, a wizard or cleric can take no action beyond walking at half speed. Combat damage, a fall, or other significant interruptions require the spellcaster to make a Will save against DC 11 or lose concentration."
Other than that restriction, I don't think there is any rule that prevents casting while in melee...

Nope. Some spells are even meant to be cast up close. Unless there’s some extra circumstance—like they’re being grappled—I don’t see any reason to even consider that. Of course, there’s danger if a spell hurting allies that are too close. I lost a level 3 warrior to laming hands that way.
