Success Story Some of my recent declutters

I think I’m addicted to the feeling of decluttering! I started with my closet and have been slowly working my way through my apartment. I feel physically lighter as I go through every spot and ditch the expired products or clothing that I no longer like. Even though I’ve decluttered a good bit there’s still so much to go, but I’m excited to keep the momentum going tomorrow 🧹🧽

Well done! What did you find helped the most when getting started?

Despite the fact that my living situation is secure, I kept thinking about the fact that if I had to move tomorrow, I had waaaaay too many things, and I kept adding to the “things” pile every time I bought more unnecessary stuff. I have a bit of a shopping problem and just woke up one day and realized I was overcome by it, and half of the things I own I haven’t used in years or ever. So I began the purge and haven’t looked back. It’s also helped me with my shopping habit! Definitely not shopping as much as I used to

This was the reminder I needed! Sometimes things click and this was it for me! Thanks!

Great job! I love that the ghost soap dispenser survived the declutter LOL. For the pantry shelf, you may want to try can holders (where they "dispense") or a tiered shelf so that you can see the cans easier. You did a great job and I plan on revisiting more decluttering during our upcoming holiday weekend.

Hell yeah.

It's so good to have a few before and afters to look back on after the initial motivation of decluttering subsides.

I’m floored— this is incredible!!!
How did you choose baskets/organizing bins etc, and, did you buy those things before or after decluttering? This is ALWAYS my struggle.

Thank you! I pretty much all of the bins prior to decluttering. I picked ones that matched the colors I use most in my apartment and I opted for smaller bins that I knew I could use everywhere so that if I didn’t need them in one storage space, they’d work elsewhere. I got them mainly from Meijer and Dollar Tree!

I just started 3 days ago. At first it was overwhelming, but then as I got into it, I was becoming proud of myself. At the end of doing each area, as I looked at my progress, I realized I couldn’t stop!

This is exactly what happened for me! The pride in knowing you’ve lightened the physical and mental load in your life is unmatched

Just wait until you get into declutter rounds 2 and 3 and then you start questioning why you own anything.

I’m already excited for the next rounds truly! Never thought I’d be so happy to get rid of so many things

I would declutter the kitchen to the point that you don't need that extra shelf unit & then get rid of that

Personally I like having my pantry items on a shelf like this because it reminds me that I have them 😅 I have ADHD and often forget about things if they aren’t visible. I also don’t have an actual pantry in my apartment, just the cabinets, but I could probably reduce my amount of dry food in general

Omg I need your momentum right now! It looks great. 😊 similar to the spots I have to go through in my place. Any advice on motivation to start? I feel overwhelmed hence why I put it off so long !

I spy a plumbing problem under your sink! Hope it wasn't too expensive to repair!

Great work decluttering!!

u/vodkaheart 2d ago

Wait which one?? Because one of my sinks is giving me all kinds of issues and I can’t seem to fix it!

I think it's the master? The drywall has been cut out to access the piping.
