So I recently changed my license plate in Frisco, and prior to that I had a toll tag. After I changed my license plate, I updated my car's information on the NTTA website, but now it's saying that my toll tag was "returned". What does that mean and how do I reactivate my toll tag?

A chartiable organization I belong to distributes on-site financial aid to people who are vistims of disasters. We use a DL to check identity. Management is claiming a high rate of DL fraud and telling us that it's trivially easy to buy a fake DL for only a few $$ that passes all feature checks like hologram, UV patterns, etc. We are asked to upload photos of most DLs for 3rd party review.

Is this true? Is it true of both Real ID and non-Real ID compliant IDs?

I can see there being an AI tool that is more reliable than a human for reviewing a picture of a DL. I don't know the details of what our org does.

I am an active-duty U.S. military service member stationed overseas for 10 years and recently returned from an 11-month deployment.

My wallet, containing my Texas driver's license, was recently stolen upon my return.

I need to obtain a replacement/renewal, but I am encountering the following issues:

• Online Portal: The system states I am ineligible to renew online because my license expired over two years ago (January 2024).
• In-Person Requirement: I am currently overseas with no upcoming stateside travel to Texas, and I do not have a representative in Texas with a Special Power of Attorney (SPOA).
• Phone Support: The automated phone system directs me to book an in-person appointment.

Given my active-duty overseas status, what is the best approach to get a replacement/renewal?

my dad bought his truck in his name after my parents were married. they're now trying to transfer the title to my mom. we were told to fill out the gift affidavit form but i noticed on there that it says for spouses to qualify the vehicle had to have previously been separate property. would my parents still need to fill out the gift affidavit?

I currently have a car that is registered in NY. I bought it a few years ago but titled it in my mom’s name while in a different state so that she could register it and mail me the plates. I now live in Montana and hope to register the car here.

I think I would just print the forms on the DMV site (vehicle bill of sale MV-912 and statement of transaction sales tax form DTF-802 and have my mom sign it over to me, then take the NY title, and two signed forms to the DMV in Montana and register the car there. I have a Montana ID already so I think that will go fine.

Once I get the plates, I plan to insure the car using the new plates the same day by calling and updating the insurance and then printing out something to keep in the car.

I feel like I’m skipping a step somewhere, like maybe un-registering the car in NY? I have the updated sticker. Has anyone done this before?

This is because free stuff ain't free. The democrats take from you to fund the so called free stuff. Look at our roads. I was born and raised here and I've had enough. I'm taking my money getting out. I love it here but enough is enough. I hope you all will wake up and vote or something different other than the this nightmare.

I’m in the middle of moving and need to change the mailing address on my license until I can change it to my physical address. I try to update my mailing address on the portal, everything is typed in correctly I click submit, it loads and then never updates it.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Wife paid off a car while we were in Texas. Texas DMV said they’d send the title to CA DMV.

We moved to CA an CA DMV doesn’t seem to have the title as we’re finding out now that she’s trying to sell the car.

She called the Texas DMV and they said they still have the title.

CA registration says No title issued/Non transferable and contact DMV for CA title info.

Where to go from here?

Ohio private party vehicle sale to Kentucky resident: seller has a physical Ohio paper title but the title is currently held by a credit union because of a lien. If the buyer pays off the lien at Credit Union, but the credit union does NOT have the physical title at the branch, and instead provides the seller with a notarized lien release form or faxes it to the titling clerk, can the seller and Kentucky buyer go to the Clerk of Courts Title Office in Ohio and have a new paper title issued the same day so the seller can sign it over to the Kentucky buyer? Can the title office process this on a Saturday? Has anyone gone through this exact situation in Ohio and successfully completed the entire transaction the same day?

Both me (the buyer) and the Ohio resident (the seller) have never done this before and I want to make sure I have it all figured out before driving 2 hours and 14 minutes there and back!

My registration just expired a week ago, it was stolen last night and now it's been found (inoperable) and towed to the city impound lot. To release it I need valid registration. Is paying the fees and getting a "moving permit" sufficient in this case? Since I can't complete registration without the smog check.

I have a SR-22 requirement that ends in December. My car is classified as non driveable on the roads because of a blown engine but I am still maintaing my Sr-22 insurance. It’s very cheap.

However, I plan to sell my car to private party and file release of liability next week with the dmv.
I will not have a new car for a couple weeks after selling. How should I move forward?

I recently took my Class M road test/skills test July 23rd and passed. I never received my license in the mail so I went to the DMV today(aug 31st) and they told me that i have been driving illegally and I cannot have a Class M license unless I have a Class D license. All other sources than the DMV that I went to are telling me they are incorrect. Please give me some input or information about this. Thank you

Her dad died in june of last year, the title is open and he never wrote a will about who got what her family voted on who got the car and she got it. Her older sister split everything up between the family. What paper work would she need and what needs to be done

I have to wait 397 days for my registration suspension. And its impossible to pay instead for my own fault of it. Any way to somehow get around this? Can I give the car ownership to my dad and I still drive? and is the suspension gone at that point?

I am required to go to an appointment tomorrow to complete the process. Will a new picture be required? Asking specifically due to some minor health issues I am going through leaving my face with a rash.

I assumed I have to change everything by mail but I can't get ahold of anyone to ask how exactly I should fill out the title replacement form since there is an active lien on the car. When I fill out the replacement form, do I put down my name or the lien company?

I lost my wallet last week. CA drivers license was in there. I leave for Italy on Sept 10. Was hoping to be able to rent a car for a portion of the trip to leisurely drive across Tuscany and explore. I read online that Italy does not accept paper/temp licenses when renting cars. Any chance I can get an emergency license printed or expedited in California prior to my trip or am I sol. I bought a car in the middle of July in New Jersey and was issued a 30 day temp tag. As it got closer to the date the temp tag was going to expire I reached out to the dealership and was guaranteed the new tags would arrive by the end of the week. It has been just under 3 weeks since my temp tags have expired and I haven’t gotten my new tags, registration, an extension of the temp tags, new temp tags, or anything from the dealership stating they will cover expenses caused by me driving a car with expired registration. Every time I reach out I’m told the tags should arrive that day or in the next couple days. I’ve had multiple out of state trips come up that I have not been able to use my car for and I have no idea what to do. My salesperson says he’s doing everything he can but only just asked for my updated insurance days ago (the original insurance expired two weeks ago). This makes me think that the paperwork was not filled out up until now. I also gave my states transportation department a call to see if they received anything and they said they haven’t. What should I do?

I bought a used car a couple of months ago and I’m trying to renew my registration. I am already late to it and when I try to renew it online, it is registered to the old address. I can’t contact the dealer as they went out of business and o don’t know what to do. I can’t change the address online. What do I need in order to change the address at the DMV and to pay the late registration?
