Technical FCPX to Pro Tools - help needed

Does anyone have any experience with this?

I'm helping out on a short that is trying to turnover to grade & sound. I've never used FCPX in my life and have limited experience with Resolve. The FCPXML worked on into Resolve and the conform team were able to work with it for grade, but creating an AAF out of that timeline for sound has absolutely not worked.

Do I need X2Pro?

X2Pro works well, but there are some other tools too (AAFeverything [dot] app). You need to be rigorous about setting Roles in FCP before export, otherwise it'll be a clusterfuck.

Check out r/finalcutpro for more targeted responses.

For a proper workflow you need x2pro. AFAIK you can do it through resolve via fcpxml as well but that messes up lots of metadata that need to be cleaned up manually.
