Beighton score question Spoiler

Are those the correct movements of Beighton score?
Would you consider it a positive result?(assuming symmetrical movements in pinky finger, thumb, elbow and knee)
Thanks!

yeah you’re definitely hypermobile. that doesn’t necessarily mean one specific diagnosis though, EDS/HSD have a lot of subtypes. best to go to a doctor and talk about it if you can

I would say so, but hypermobility can be present in general population as natural variation without indicating a type of EDS or HSD. If you experience recurrent pain, injury, or have other worrying symptoms, then speak to your GP / primary care doctor for advice

I cant do the thumb to my wrist, or as much flexion as this and I still have a diagnosis

Once again- hypermobility ≠ Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome

Physical therapist here. You are doing them correctly and all the ones you posted are considered positive including the knee and elbow (not sure why the other commenter is saying they’re not). However each test (minus the forward bend) needs to be tested on both sides for an actual score. So these photos prove you’re at least 5/9 on the scale but you could very well be 9/9 if your other side is positive.

The scale itself does not diagnose EDS. Hypermobility exists on a spectrum and there are other criteria for it to be considered hEDS.

Knees and elbows don’t meet criteria but you still appear hypermobile and the other things give you enough points to cause some concern. Hypermobile doesn’t always mean EDS though.
