Damn shame those handlebars scratched the car as you passed. Not blaming you when oncoming traffic was so close

Ringmahon, Cork. Outside a school beside a Garda Stations. Rough enough area. Rough head on the lad sitting in the car

Is he or she a tool for parking there? Yes

Is he or she causing a major inconvenience for anyone? No. A cyclist can easily go around the car without too much hassle.

There are far worse twats out there parking that deserve your attention. This isn't even a 5/10.

The basic test for a cycle lane is if youโ€™d happily let your 5 year old cycle on it.

Would you be okay with a 5yo child merging into traffic to get past this car? If not, the driver has rendered the cycle lane useless for children and less confident cyclists so they just wonโ€™t cycle at all. Itโ€™s not just a minor inconvenience, this is the kind of thing that puts people off cycling.

I completely agree with you in principle. I am just saying that there are far worse parking offences out there than this one and it is not worth getting worked up about.

On a side note, I live near this and I am both a cyclist and motorist. The cycle lanes in this area are not that safe as it is. Most of them have no physical barrier between the lane and the road and they are poorly maintained with debris from the road that is never cleared. Nearly better to take your chances on the road!

It blocks visibility of the pedestrian crossing somewhat, making it hard for kids to see if it's safe to cross.
