An external tool to force Emby to show episode thumbnails instead of series thumbnails for tv shows. This functions like a script that apply this "fix" onto all tv shows in your library, or a specific tv show id for testing. Emby was working great on my iPad until about a week ago. Now when I try to connect it only says..."This emby server needs to be updated. To download the latest version, please visit https://emby.media"

The server app says it's the latest version!!?

Just noticed a few days ago. I go to Manage Downloads within the iOS Emby app, and its just blank. The settings page seems to be normal but nothing shows on the Manage Downloads. And I have several shows that should appear here. This morning I noticed that despite watching two episodes of a show last night, they didnt remove from my phone, and two more didnt download.

I love Emby but the constant issues with downloading shows is the most frustrating thing about the app. (Sometimes they get stuck on Ready to Transfer, sometimes an episode isn't downloaded, etc).

Edit - so it looks like my shows are still downloading per my rules (5 at a time, unwatched only) so that’s good. But my Manage Downloads are still blank.

Emby has to be the most app with a lot of users and has a subscription system that isn’t evolving accordingly, UI still mostly the same as before 5 years ago
The playback is so bad when you pause multiple times it’s annoying, still no smart playlists I know it will be on next update but it has been asked for for years now

And they make managing devices with premiere hard intentionally so you would have to buy the license which is crazy especially if some basic features as opensubtitle which is a plugin if you use it it counts as a premiere feature! The concept of charging for devices is crazy even plex won’t do that

So I like to play music videos, MTV style, typically from a folder and random settings. I have noticed occasionally I see a popup button showing the next video title and a timer and a "play now" button. What triggers that and what would it take for that to do that on all the videos? I've seen this on my Roku player, server is Windows 10 if that matters. Is it metadata driven? Most my videos are downloads from Youtube. Hard subject to search for as the search results go down different rabbit holes with nothing to do with my question. (Frikin AI)

Some of you may remember an earlier post here where I was looking for testers for liquidWave — my attempt at getting Plexamp's sonic-analysis experience onto a self-hosted Emby setup. There's been a lot of development since, and it's now on the Google Play Store in closed testing. I'm looking for testers again.

What it does: a small backend you run yourself listens to your library once and learns what each track sounds like — not genre tags — then powers auto-curated Sonic Mixes, Track Radio/Similar, Sonic Adventure (a generated journey that morphs from one track to another), and an Artist Mix Creator.

It's also just a solid Emby player: crossfade that trims silence instead of blending dead air, 10-band EQ, offline downloads with proper resume, Android Auto, Cast, a widget, and a web app if you're not on Android.

Audiobooks are a first-class citizen, not an afterthought — chapter-aware browsing and resume (it picks up at the right chapter and position, not just the start of a file), variable playback speed, and a sleep timer. They download for offline listening too, and still resume in the right place when you come back.

Privacy: fully self-hosted — no account, no cloud, no ads, no telemetry, nothing leaves your network. Needs Emby 4.8+. The app alone is a full Emby player in ~5 min; the sonic features need the small analysis service too.

Joining the test takes two steps (Play's closed testing works via a Google Group):

1. Join: https://groups.google.com/g/liquidwave-testers
2. Then https://play.google.com/apps/testing/guru.liquid.embysonic → "Become a tester"

Then it installs from Play normally. If you can, joining via Play rather than sideloading really helps — Google requires 12 Play testers for 14 continuous days before it can go public.

Hey folks, wanted to share my music client for emby. In fact I made it originally for jellyfin(started in 2023, so no vibe coding here) as I was using it for music and recently I thought why not add emby, since the API 95% is the same. What the app does:

Je possède une smart TV Phillips Ambilight, j'ai configurer un serveur EMBY sur un NAS Synology. Depuis quelques jours, lorsque je lance EMBY, un écran apparait et me demande systématiquement si je veux quitter l'application. Et ça en boucle.

Si je supprime les données internet sur le téléviseur, je peux de nouveau accéder à EMBY. Toutefois si je quitte l'application ou éteins ma TV, je ne peux plus y accéder.

Est ce que quelqu'un a déjà eu le cas ?

If I enable e.g. Sonarr's Emby metada function wherein it downloads a series thumbnails, images, nfo files etc, are those files actually used by Emby and its clients or is it basically a redundant/useless feature of Sonarr?

I'm having trouble getting it to show on the plugins page. The instructions say to simply copy the .dll file to the plugins directory, and restart Emby Server, which I've done, but I don't see it on the plugins page.

The only thing I see that is different from the other other plugins (which were all installed via the plugins catalog) are the owner and permissions. All the others have the owner as daemon and this one is nobody.

Is it the WAY I copied the file over? I'm running Emby 4.9.5.0 in a docker container on Unraid 7.3.2 and simply used the file manager to copy the file to the directory.

Looking for a way to open a written list in app. Like, say I had some long complicated series of movies similar to the MCU and I wanted a written list of them in order (maybe even with the tie in shows) that I could open in the app to see what comes after what. Is there any way to do that?

Hi, I was wondering if there's a setting or a plugin I can get that will show a number of times a movie/file has been played on the posters of the movies? I.e. like how a played file will show a tick to indicate it's been watched.

It doesn't need to be super accurate as I know emby can't tell the difference between a partially played and a fully played file. I just need a general indicator of which files are played more often than others.

Why are there so many problems with the Emby app from the Windows Store? I’ve had audio issues that I couldn't fix, and it won't automatically proceed to the next episode—it just gets stuck in a loop, even with looping turned off. However, if you download Emby Theater for Windows from https://github.com/MediaBrowser/emby-theater-windows/releases, all the problems disappear and everything works perfectly on the PC. This happens to both me and my friends—it only affects the PC version; the TV and mobile apps work fine. The Windows Store version is just crap. And the other one—why isn't it on the Emby website?

I just started using Emby earlier this month. I have a server set up with multiple users, and I recently noticed that the app will not download anything over cellular data.

I am running an iPhone 17 with the most recent version of Emby for iOS and my close friend is using a S25 Ultra running the most recent version of Emby for Android.

Both devices have the download over Wi-Fi only button unchecked.

When initiating a download the server converts the file and then puts it in a “Ready to Transfer” status where it continues to sit as the app will not pull it unless you are connected to Wi-Fi.

Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me?
