My friend told me given she has Gold tier membership, the crew onboard (in Economy) are more attentive to her and offer her more regular assistance/drinks etc, is this true?

Over the last week, the average delay was 2 hours.Is it because of airspace closure? What can i do if i miss my connection. How can i get my luggage back in dubai ?

Has anyone booked the emirates lounge at Glasgow airport? I read somewhere if your an emirates member (I am but only just opened my account) you can access for free, is this correct? I can’t find anything online about booking it

Selecting seats for my partner and I with a 9 month old on the A380 business class.

Currently in seats 7A and 7K that’s designated basinet seats, but will be away from each other. Wondering if the middle seats E & F, although not basinet seats but better as sitting next to each other and baby can be passed between easily.

So for the first time in my life, I was upgraded from Economy to Business! I didn’t realise until I was at DXB, looked at my Emirates app and found the business class menu. The experience was unreal. When I asked the gate agent, they said it was a promotional upgrade. Thank you Emirates for the free upgrade!

How is the situation in Dubai? Are the flights getting delayed everyday? I have to fly from India->LAX, there are other options there like Cathay Pacific but my coworker seems highly inclined towards Emirates due to comfort, food etc. What would you suggest me to do? Book with emirates or any other flight which is running from Hong Kong etc?

I recently flew Economy with Emirates from Dubai (DXB) to Washington Dulles (IAD). While the in-flight service was fine overall, the cabin crew’s conduct during the final descent was downright disgraceful—and unacceptable for an airline that prides itself on top-tier service.

Roughly 40 minutes before landing, the crew began aggressively sweeping the cabin to strip blankets from Economy passengers. My wife was fast asleep, and instead of letting her rest, a crew member physically pushed her to wake her up just to take her blanket. Before I could intervene, another crew member woke my 6-year-old daughter and yanked her blanket away as well.

When I stopped the crew and asked if they could collect the blankets later so my family could rest, the crew member completely ignored me, refused to respond, and walked away.

This isn't an isolated incident; I've noticed this exact pattern on previous Emirates flights. Ripping blankets off sleeping passengers—especially young kids—is not just unprofessional; it feels completely inhumane. Cabin collection logistics should never take priority over passenger dignity and basic comfort.

If Emirates wants to maintain its reputation, management needs to address this policy and retrain crew immediately. Has anyone else dealt with this aggressive early collection on recent DXB routes?

A friend mentioned she was going to Dubai this weekend to visit some friends. Given the recent Iran conflict, is this safe?

Tried searching but seeing varied things. What would be the risks of going, if any?

A few weeks ago, I flew internationally for the first time from Newark to Athens. At some point during the flight, my phone slipped out of my lap while I was in a window seat. I heard it slide between my seat and the aircraft wall.

I searched for about 10 minutes but couldn’t find it. I then noticed an opening/gap between the bottom of an air vent on the wall, and the floor (pictured). I immediately knew that my phone had fallen into this abyss which, after shining a flashlight inside of it, appeared to have no bottom. I told a flight attendant, who repeatedly asked whether I had checked the floor, my seat, or the seat pocket. She then advised me to stay on board after everyone exited the plane so the crew could help me look for the phone.

After everyone left, I found another flight attendant, showed her the opening, and she immediately agreed that the phone had fallen into that opening. She brought over a person in an orange vest whom she identified as a mechanic. I was told the aircraft was continuing to Dubai and there wasn’t enough time to search for the phone in Athens. They took my contact information and my friend’s number and told me the mechanic would search for it in Dubai and that my friend would be contacted after the search.

After reaching my hotel, I submitted an Emirates lost-property report and a separate complaint. I explained that I was concerned not only about recovering my property, but also about the possibility of a phone containing a lithium-ion battery being lodged somewhere inaccessible inside the aircraft. I also requested documentation of what steps had been taken to locate the phone, who had conducted the search, when and to whom the incident had been reported, and any other relevant details regarding how the matter had been handled.

I received no substantive response. I submitted additional reports and was repeatedly directed back to Emirates’ complaint system. I also contacted the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). They responded that passenger complaints/lost property were outside their jurisdiction. I subsequently submitted a VORSY report regarding the safety aspect of the incident, but received no response.

I was able to track the phone through Find My as the aircraft/phone moved between Athens, Dubai, Boston, and back to Dubai. It has continued to hop between airports. I have the relevant tracking information and documentation.

At this point, I’m mainly trying to figure out who the appropriate authority is for an aircraft cabin defect like this, and whether there is any realistic way to escalate the property issue with Emirates beyond repeatedly submitting the same complaint form.

I’m not looking for speculation about where the phone went—I’m specifically looking for advice from people familiar with aviation, Emirates’ lost-property/maintenance procedures, or the appropriate U.S./UAE regulatory channels.

Since the phone was not recovered and I had to purchase a replacement, I believe I should be reimbursed for the cost of replacing it, particularly given that the phone fell into an opening in the aircraft cabin that I had no reasonable way of accessing myself. This was a nightmare scenario for my first international flight and I am disappointed in Emirates’ lack of concern regarding this incident.

Any constructive advice on what to do or who to contact next would be appreciated.

I am a student travelling from Mumbai to Hamburg this Friday. I have 3 hrs of layover in Dubai. With many recent post stating some delays at DXB due to the ongoing war situation. Will it be possible to catch my second flight to Hamburg. It is very important for me to get on that flight because i have some important appointments to attend. I know that this is a dynamic situation and nobody knows what happens on friday but i am a bit anxious. Should i be worried?

I’m not flying on Emirates until December. How far in advance do they usually email you if they’re not sold out in the premium cabins to give you the option to upgrade?

I take this flight around every two months, and as im sure everyone knows the internet never works. I think it is one of the first A380s with starlink. The flight code is EK8 if anyone like me will always book it from now

Travelling from Sydney to London and following the adverts thought it looks like a good idea to get off in Dubai for a couple of days. The adverts say that Emirates has a stopover option and googling and blogs show the Emirates stopover comes with hotel options - so I can book the flights, hotel, transfers, etc. all in one and is far better than booking separately.

Sounds great - just what I want.. but HOW is what I'm struggling with.

I can see the Dubai stopover option on their website and can find flights I want, but can't see how to add hotels to that. If I follow the link to hotels, the options all look good, but it detaches the flight options.

At the moment I think I'm about to buy the flights, and then go in and book a hotel completely separately, but I think I'm missing a step on their website (that's probably me overlooking!)

Any ideas?

(Also any other tips good - two nights, family of four, two young teenagers, not been before. Was thinking Atlantis)

Every time I decide to book emirates, the Iran- USA war escalates. Should I go ahead with emirates? I really want to but the war uncertainty is keeping me on the edge. I m planning a trip in Nov. If the war escalates in Nov, do they provide refund or support. This is a trip which I cannot miss due to family reasons.

As the title suggests, are promotional upgrades offered at online check in usually cheaper than at the check in desk?

I am looking at booking Edinburgh - Dubai - Perth next year and this options has about 18.5hrs in Dubai. There is only one flight a day EDI - DBX and one DBX - PER so I think I should be able to get the hotel through Dubai Connect as there isnt a shorter connection I could book but I would like to know that I will get it for sure before I book.

I’ve been offered to upgrade 3x economy seats to premium for £1,104 and business for £2,400 on the app. Is this good value? Is this likely to improve at check in at the airport? I’m flying Emirates Premium Economy from LHR to DXB in a few days as I’m relocating to the UAE for work.

I currently have the maximum baggage allowance I’ve been able to purchase online: 35 kg included + 50 kg extra, giving me 85 kg of checked baggage in total. Emirates won’t let me purchase any more online, and I was also told it can’t be added over the phone.

Does anyone know if it’s definitely possible to purchase additional baggage at the airport?

I’ve been told the airport rate is around $25 USD per kg, but I’m wondering if there’s any other way to pre-purchase the additional weight and get a cheaper rate before travelling.

My baggage is currently:

• 1x cabin suitcase (10 kg)

• 2x large checked suitcases (32 kg each / 64 kg total)

• 1x flight case containing a desktop computer (31.5 kg)

• 1x flight case containing a computer monitor (18 kg)

So my checked baggage would come to approximately 113.5 kg, meaning I’d be around 28.5 kg over my current 85 kg allowance.

All individual pieces are under the 32 kg limit.

Has anyone travelled with Emirates with this much checked baggage before? Would they simply charge me for the extra 28.5 kg at check-in, or is there anything else I need to be aware of?

Hi! I will be travelling to UK from India on student visa. I have booked my flights with emirates - BLR to DXB layover to London Stansted.

The total allowance is 40Kg check-in and 7 kgs Cabin.

The question I have is -
1. whether I can carry 7Kgs cabin + a separate laptop backpack?
2. Or I should be carrying only the cabin ?
3. Or I can carry both but including backpack it should be 7 kgs?

I’ve just booked Economy flights with Emirates to Dubai for 4 passengers in mid-October.
I’ve checked the “Upgrade” option in Manage My Booking and it’s currently showing:
Premium Economy: +£1,700 total
Business Class: +£3,500 total
This is for all 4 passengers.
I’m tempted to wait and see if the upgrade price comes down as we get closer to the flight, rather than paying it now.
For anyone who flies Emirates regularly:
Do the cash upgrade offers usually get cheaper closer to departure?
Have you found that better offers appear around 72 hours/48 hours before the flight or at online check-in?
I’d particularly love to hear what people have actually been offered from London to Dubai, and roughly how much you paid per person for Premium Economy or Business.
Would you personally wait with these prices, or would you take the £3,500 Business upgrade now?
