Layoffs RANT
I feel the PATHETIC. Haven't worked properly since August ig, my tickets are pending and I just keep scrolling reddit. I am not scared of layoffs but I am fed up of this current situation where you are in the middle of nothing.
And I hate those who just gives advise to keep off reddit and start preparing. I fking know what I have to do, I just can't keep calm and stick to what I have to do because of the uncertainty. Just want to get done with. Like give an ultimatum that so and so and date there would be layoffs. F have to sit every day and destroy my mental health on reddit and google. It's too much now. Aug 13 was the first time everyone said that layoffs can happen that passed then Aug 21 then Aug 31 and Sep 1, everything has passed and now we have a new date Sep 14. And what after that Sep 29.. and this goes on.
My productivity is lowest, work life is zero, personal life because of this uncertainty has been affected. Oracle hasn't increased salary since 2 years now, and suddenly it's like you are getting hit from every direction.
I feel like I am I made a bad decision to take Oracle out of college. Should have joined a startup, fking killed all my zeal as well.
If you are not managers who decide who gonna be laid off, don't speculate. We get 10 dates everyday. And stop advising people to stop worrying and start preparing. We know that shit.

Same bruh, i havent worked properly since late march because of the last round of layoffs and now this. I just keep wasting time, doomscrolling or thinking what if. It just seems pointless. And now i’m in a position where i can’t simply quit as it will affect other stuff. Have to wait it out and keep preparing while hoping i survive long enough to become dangerous again. Have to believe that daily study and on the job learning will lead to a critical moment of application in the future which will arrive unannounced. And when that moment arrives, i should be prepared as much as possible.

I would go 30 min work, then 10 min break, and repeat.
When you add it up that's only 6 hours of work, but 6 is better than 0.
You could even reverse it, 30 min break 10 min work, anything is better than 0.
The important thing is it gets you unstuck, and the momentum builds back up. I don't need it anymore, my queue is squeaky clean after months of being painfully behind.
The thing is, Oracle may not deserve your work, but if you don't break out, this will follow you to your next job, it will invade all aspects of your life, it's worth the effort not for Oracle but for you.

I disagree. Oracle doesn't deserve our work right now, but that doesn't mean it'll invade all aspects of your life. Just focus on those other aspects instead of doing work and there's no issue.

Everything is training. OP is training themself to avoid work, that will affect more than just their time at Oracle.
Besides, Op literally said it's affecting their personal life.

For OP, sure. But in general, I still disagree. You can compartmentalize work ethic and the current work situation. I've done it before and I'll do it again. Doesn't mean I'll he a lazy worker at my next role, but it does mean that until oracle makes changes they won't be getting my best.

If you are not working, you're opening yourself up for a PIP, then eventually getting fired without a severance package.
Most people went without a salary hike for way more than 2 years btw. I agree with the top comment: you should just leave of your own accord.

You're sabotaging yourself doing it this way. Even if you don't get picked for RIF, how long do you think you can make it not doing your work?
My bonuses are tied to attainment, so no matter what, I'm doing my work to my fullest.

You should leave. If you feel that working at Oracle is affecting your work and mental health, it’s not worth it
