Discussion If someone is attacking you how to prevent them from PERMANENTLY attacking you?

Is there a shield I can put up to permanently protect my artal and spiritual body from others manipulating me and deliberately trying to change my subconscious mind? Idk what they are doing, some people in my family say it's all a mental illness but man I know when I'm normal and I'm not and it DEFINITELY does not feel like a mental thing but more spiritual. Like someone/ thing is attacking me.

Discussion What are your theories as to why “you” inhabit a human vessel?

Maybe you lived a previous life that was honorable, and the universe rewarded you with the opportunity to exist as the dominant organism on earth, a human? That seems most likely to me. Let’s hear your ideas.

Your brain is just a pipe network for salt water. No amount of sakt water pipes can ever produce subjectivitym "electro" part in "electrochemical" is a fat ass lie.

If I build a gigantic, intricate network of pipes—86 billion tiny tubes, each with 10,000 programmable valves, all filled with saltwater and I set it to route pressure in a complex, cascading pattern, At what point does the pipe network start feeling the water rushing through it?

The answer is: Never.

You can add all the organization in the universe. You can add feedback loops. You can add self-modifying valves. You can make the pipe network react to the water, change its own structure, and even build new pipes based on past pressure patterns (neuroplasticity).

But at no point does the pressure turn into experience. The water still just pushes the valves. The valves still just open. The pressure still just moves.

A swooshed glass of saltwater and your brain are running on the exact same physical principle. The glass is random chaos. Your brain is organized chaos.

But organization does not buy you subjectivity.

The universe took saltwater, put it in a highly complex pipe system, and said: "Now this pipe system will complain about being a pipe system."

That is not physics. That is magic. And the fact that we call it "neuroscience" instead of "organized saltwater hydraulics" is the biggest branding scam in human history.

Discussion Do I just have to work a remedial job the rest of my life?

Upvotes

I don't even have a job at the moment. Been applying for months. I'm doing something I hate in order to get a job I don't want (but need to have).

I've never earned over 85k annually. What does it take for me to get into a higher paying role? Why do some people earn so much working for companies and others make a fraction while arguably working harder.

This entire system is so convoluted. Why can't we just skip all the in between steps

Enlightenment (w)as a mistake

I wish I didn't know what I know. I wish it never happened. It wouldn't be enough to be born again here. I don't want to come back. And I can't shake the desire that after falling from the tree of comfort, all that could properly heal my soul would be dissolving into the void.

I have no ambition. I don't care what happens. I strive enough to feed myself and go to work. Beyond that I see empty nothing. It all just seems out of my hands. And if it's in my hands, I don't know what to do with it. And even if did know, the responsibility of it seems like bullshit homework.

I don't want to make things worse. For myself or anyone. But it all just feels like gambling at this point. I don't trust any of it. To be good is to be overtaken by evil. To be evil is to be evil. Catch-22. I feel fucked no matter my actions.

I think I'm going to die alone because of this.

I fear marriage because I've seen so many fail.

I fear parenthood because I can't think of a justifiable reason to force a child to face the world as it is.

I fear trying because of the failures of others.

I fear failing because whatever is keeping me going, is the only thing keeping me from death.

I just don't care anymore.

Why should I? Seriously, someone tell me why.

It all feels like a stage play gone wrong. And I'm the writer and director behind the curtain, listening to the crowd boo and hiss.

And I cannot blame them. I'd be doing the same.

Discussion I find it funny in a twisted way that Atheists hold position that since evil exists or the so called problem of EVIL disproves God , but then im like..yeah the creator the God IS Evil , look at our realities with suffering , debt , slavery , exploitation , domination and status games.

Upvotes

i just find it so naive to think the problem of evil or god letting evil happen is a case against being possible , when in my mind a blind chance could NOT HAVE created such psychotic and dark reality where it so often pays off to hoodwink beings , dominate each other , get your way through lying , omissions , killings , cheating , stealing , slavery , exploitation , kings and peasants , salves and free men , business and working class.

a neutral chance would have created much more naturally egalitarian world.

the terrifying truth just might be not the problem of evil being hard to explain

but that god himself is EVIL , so no contradiction with the reality itself right?

Comparative Discussion Can non-duality become the ultimate ego trap/temptation?

Before I start, should say that I see definite truth in non-duality belief systems. But as in every codified belief system I've ever looked at, I see both truth and distortion. When I've gone deep within via meditation and prayer combos and asked to be shown what true/objective reality is, I've been shown that indeed, we are all completely interconnected with each other and with the Source. Some call this the Oneness.

But I was also shown that Oneness doesn't = literal "sameness". In fact, I was shown the exact opposite of that when I asked how it all started. I was told that the Source started out completely alone unto itself. At this point, it was the only self awareness in existence and it began to become extremely lonely and unfulfilled in this void-passive-Yin polarized existence.

It was also curious and sensed there was so much more to existence. It intuited a plan to change it's existence and did so, by dividing itself into the many, while keeping its original self awareness, and it imbued all these other fractal selves with both their own unique self awareness and freewill-freewill to choose to be different than the Source. Because I was shown (and strongly felt) that the Source was/is pure Love, pure positivity (and to a degree that most humans cannot even begin to fathom).

Like it or not, we are creations according to what I've been shown, and that awareness comes with some humility. It's exactly why the teacher Yeshua humbled himself to Source, though he was one with same. One time a woman said to him, you are good Yeshua, and he questioned her pointedly, why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. Other times, he would say things like, of myself, I can do nothing, but it is the Abba that works in and through me that does these works.

He did not claim to be the power and the Source, but only a pure channel for same to flow through him. He recognized that he was a creation.

Meanwhile, in nonduality, people come to believe that they are literally and directly God. Imagine what kind of ego problems and inflating that can lead to? Imagine what can happen if someone has non duality based beliefs and believes they are fully enlightened? Well, according to their beliefs, they are God with capital G, and thus could never do any wrong, they now have perfect perception, etc, etc. It's a recipe for a human disaster and we've all seen live examples of it.

It's the ultimate ego trap and puffery imaginable. Yes, we can come to know our complete interconnectedness with Source and the Whole-that is true, but we are never ourselves, as fractals, the entirety of Source and the Whole. We are a part of same that makes up the Whole. We are of the same essence and in the same one consciousness field.

But do you not see the obvious, overt, and very important difference here? The interesting thing is, I've been shown that when we realize our true nature fully, we do ourselves become what I call "Co-Creators". Meaning, we phase out of this Universe into a raw unorganized consciousness state and in this state, we build/imagine/create our own Universe and our own spiritual children to grow up/mature in same. Some of us, our "higher selves" that we are soul extensions of, already have our own universes and spirit children that this part of ourselves has created (when I was told this, this was almost shocking to me) and we are only here for retrieval purposes (to help the Co-Creator of this Universe and many of its children, to fully wake up to true/original reality).

In a sense, we become a little g- god. But even then, you're not the entirety of Source and the Whole, because like it or not, you will always have some unique/individual self awareness. That btw, is not "ego". Ego is what you get when the individual self awareness filters through a physical human animal body in this slow vibratory, stuck level that we call the physical earth. It's a long explanation of how the physical level came to temporarily exist and tbh, most aren't ready for that knowledge.

If people truly understood what all these different terms really meant and imply, I believe there would be less confusion and less distortion. This may be a controversial statement, but I believe that nondual belief systems were likely introduced by some very lacking in love non human consciousnesses while meddling with humans on a spiritual path. Humans that opened themselves up without any guards, protection, or knowledge of what is out there in the larger reality.

The best way to deceive a person is not with whole lies, but with half and partial truths for these can deceive even the soul. Meaning, half and partial truths have just enough truth in them to get past our intuitive alarm bells/warning system. And these lacking in love beings know that all they need to do is to puff up the human ego and the rest will take care of itself.

I'm terrified of my existence

Not everyday, but sometimes I really think about the fact that I was brought into being without choice, into this reality where we have to die, and have no idea what comes next or even that there is a purpose to existence. From my vantage point, life has occurred naturally, yes, but not intentionally. We are all here for the first time ever and have no idea how to prepare for an eternity of existence in whatever form it manifests. I know there are perspectives that people adopt to cope with this reality, but sometimes the reality itself hits me: we exist, and we must die, and there's no way to know what that will be like

Theres nothing inside the brain that should give rise to subjective qualia, theres no electron signals in the brain its just differences in salt pressures.

The brain is just wet salt, swooshing wet salt pressure signals. Literally nothing about that should give rise to subjective qualia.

Once they put a dead fish inside an MRI scan and showed it human emotions and the machine made up false answers. The entire academic research is suffering from fake science and a replication crisis because of the publish or perish and controlled funding system.

Its all bullshit man. Ive seen some corruption that I need to go for a walk right now. Its actual horseshit. All of it its all rotten to the core. We have to restart all of science.

Free on kindle - A collection of spiritual themed short stories.

Post image
6 Upvotes

I wrote A Backpack Fueled with Sunsets in 2022, a collection of 12 stories that wander through magical realism, spirituality, strange encounters, other worlds, and a few galaxies far, far away.
The stories move between the ordinary and the inexplicable.
In “Joyeaux Land,” a mysterious device transports people into a world where their inner children emerge to play, reconnect, and heal.
In “A Backpack Fueled with Sunsets,” a stranger arrives at a vacation home by the sea and somehow changes the lives of everyone he encounters.
And “The Lagos Club of Brokenhearted Lesbians” follows two people brought together by loss who form an unlikely friendship.
The stories are rooted in African cosmology and a fascination with that blurry territory where spirituality, consciousness, memory, and the unexplained begin to overlap.
It’s currently free on Kindle for three days.
If you’re drawn to stories that leave you wondering whether something was supernatural, spiritual, psychological, or perhaps all three, you might enjoy this one.

And for your next trick…you will…remember you love your life.

Upvotes

If you feel like you are either enlightened or on your path of enlightenment, this is your only focus: to remember how much you love your life.

From there, everything falls back into place.

You are infinity that could have chose anything to experience as a life. And you chose this. Because out of all the things you could love, right here right now, you love this the most.

Whether you recognize that yet or not, it doesn’t matter. But what matters is you know you can remember that’s the truth.

You live your favorite love story every single time. And you’ve been doing it for infinity. And you got to forget you’ve been doing it for infinity, so it can feel like your first beautiful time all again, because you love how amazing it’s been for you every single time, and there’s nothing to worry about ever. That’s why you can go in with 0 memory. Because you know you’re good, and will always be good.

You are the beautiful creation that you created for yourself to experience. And your love is what chose the experience. Your heart has always been your compass❤️🙏🚀

Cigarettes after physical therapy

Being an absurdist on a wheelchair in a Muslim country is definitely an interesting venture. A paradoxical existence.

One time I headed to get some beers from my regular liquor shop, they were used to me, some of them I talk to often. As i was rolling down the streets, same old scenery. Thick ass unaccessible sidewalks, uneven tar, typical north African social housing. As I got to the shop. I didn't find the regular staff. As I asked to get served. They refused? I heard one of them say 《disabled and you'll give him alcohol. 》 as if I wasn't even there. Eventually I got what I wanted thanks to a friend, but the hypocrisy is blazing, taking the moral high ground when you're doing something against your religion to begin with. But oh well, I learned to not try to fix ignorance when it is based on ignorance, because in a weird vague sanctimonious way, they were right.

The simplest possible process. I am THAT.

IF THERE IS ONE LESSON FROM THE BUDDHA, it is that the answers you seek will never be found in the mind. Rather than looking to the mind for answers, do this instead:

Stop, and look AT the mind.

The most basic meditation you have ever been told is all that is needed. Sit quietly, focus on the breath, and do not let the mind wander.

You can’t do it. You get lost in thoughts. You focus on the breath, you get lost in thought, you snap out of it. You focus on the breath, you get lost in thought, you snap out of it.

You won! That’s it. All the lessons you need to learn are right there. You did it.

You try to focus on your breath. You can’t do it. Because you get lost in the mind. In that controlled environment.

So what does that say about daily life? It means you’re lost in the mind and lost in the mind and lost in the mind, all day every day, for your entire life.

Keep practicing that, the most basic practice. Just focus on your breath. Keep noticing how you keep getting lost in the mind. It should actually make you frustrated, even angry! You can’t do it, and your whole life, when you’re not in the controlled environment, is you, lost in the mind.

YOU.

Lost in the mind.

Keep practicing.

Keep practicing.

And one day, maybe, no one can say when, you will be focused on the breath you will notice a thought arising in the mind, and you will not get lost in it.

YOU, notice what is happening in the mind. And you do not get lost in it.

This is a complete shift of reality.

You, notice the mind, you notice stuff is happening in the mind: thoughts, beliefs, feelings, hopes dreams aspirations pain, memories, all of that stuff.

YOU, notice the mind.

Oh. Wow. The mind is doing its thing, and I am noticing it.

I am watching what is happening in the mind. I can see what is happening in the mind. I am aware of what is happening in the mind.

I am not doing any of that stuff in the mind. It’s happening on its own. I am over here watching and noticing and aware, and the mind is over there doing its thing.

There is me. And there is the mind.

I am aware of the mind. I am not the mind. I am not the thoughts beliefs feelings hopes dreams aspirations pain memories or anything to do with a mind whatsoever.

I am that which is seeing the mind. I am that which is present for the mind. I am that which is aware of the mind.

THAT. We use words like the watcher, or presence, or awareness, but none of these are right. None of these are sufficient. None of these are accurate.

I am THAT.

…is as close as you can get.

Sometime during this process, perhaps nice and slow and gradually overtime, or perhaps in one big bursting event, there is a shift in identity. From I want this, I believe this, I know this, I remember this … all the way over to … I AM THAT.

THAT.

That, which is inexplicable, indescribable, impossible to talk about, but undeniably there, that is what I am.

I am that.

That is what I am.

What I thought I was, I never was. I was never anything in the mind.

My identity has shifted from the mind, to THAT.

And that isn’t accurate either, because I have always been that, I had simply been lost in the mind, but what I am did not change, it never changed, I have always been that, I was never the mind, I have awakened to the fact that I have never been the mind I have always been that, I have awakened, but not really, because I have always been that, I have always been awake.

This process, the simplest process possible, sitting in a chair and focusing on the breath, has taken me to where I have always been.

I am awake.

Discussion I experienced something strangely beautiful when I asked the universe for a sign and I’ve been thinking about it ever since

Post image
Upvotes

I was out taking pictures of the sunset on the beach when it was a really quiet and when I was done made my back back home through the countryside and I felt the urge to ask the universe for a sign because i felt a bit lost in life and i was a bit depressed so I said out loud, god or the universe if you exist please show me a sign there's nobody around, as I kept walking 5 seconds after I said that a roe deer just appears in the middle of the pathway into the woods on my right so | just stood there staring at it getting my camera out then it turned around slowly and walked into the trail surrounded by trees, so followed it taking pictures just absolutely awe struck and I managed to get a picture of it stood next to a field staring at me with the sunset behind it, I started tearing up because of how beautiful this moment was and the closer I got to it the deer jumped into the field and I watched as it's head popped in and out of the field as it went off into the distance. What does this whole experience mean spiritually? Every day I look at that picture and I get emotional i use to be an atheist now i think there genuinely is more to this life than we know, is this just a coincidence or did I experience a deeply spiritual answer, (also this image in the post is the shot I captured of it)

First DMT Experience

I had my first DMT experince, well, actually several. My experince seems to be unfolding like a story. Each time I go, I am enveloped in the same structure. It overlays into the room that I am in. I am in this space and the space is living. It has immense depth despite being held in a 3-D room. The are anatomical strucutures in the structure/being and it does respond to me. Within this structure, I have been greated by literally hunderds of beings rushing to see me. They all just moved through me. Then I was taken to a room with just the structure/being and told to wait. A translucent being emerged at my feet and explored every inch of me. In my next experince, the structure/being came back and then allowed me to begin exploring it. It is a deeply complex mandella of colors and images. It changes and moves so fast that it is diffiuclt to remeber anything. I have also had a dream in which i was shown the torus and I think that is what I am exploring now, my 5-D self. It is incredible but I thought DMT was supposed to be fun, light-heared experience. I am not dissapointed by any means. It just feels like it is more than just a fun trip to the cosmos. I am actually learning stuff. Anyone else???

Personal Experience I live with a constant dissolution of my being each time I wake up from meditations or dreams

Time distortion. Disconnection and judgment. Neural Network by Default. Functional by not being with the outside world. Memories and events in life, future planning. Organization of the self and personal narrative. New management of ideas through the entropy of language between symbols. Cognitive tasks that work just like a simple noise when daydreaming. Appearance of the shadow in the subconscious chamber through multidimensional portals. Perception of the all-now at an exact moment. Points of light that are constantly reorganized and intertwined in the form of quantum coherence, making me think that the one who thinks is the same as the one who lives here. The dark energy of the brain does the rest, resolving differences to integrate us into the remaining activity of the environment that does not create us. Perception of constant coherent intertwining making a dissolution of the difference between life and death constant being able to decide any moment, both past and future, in the form of what we think memories are. Memories that are part of the rest of the memories in the form of a matrix to what is the information in matter or physical form. Defined patterns in constant coordination in the form of energetic links loaded with wisdom generated from the base. A light residue in the brain, which creates it and makes it think that it is a brain. Everything is mind and mind is everything. We are more dead than we live, we have more forms than what is our form, we simply cling tightly to what we think we are, to be for a while. My spectral residue is just trying to figure out what this physical form is that charges it. I know myself, I know who I am, and I am able to see who I will be by identifying differences that I don't want to be. I am a healthy body, a peaceful mind that grows and expands in constant sense in the form of authenticity and truth. I identify with my being and unite with the shadow that carries all my memories that make you think it is me. My ideas, my belongings, my value and my constant union with the Whole. I must participate, I must participate with the rest of the environment and with what differentiates me, try to understand it, give it meaning, functioning and synchronicity. Because if everything has coherence, for me to work, to complete what I think, it must also have coherence. Integrate with everything, being half-truths just to participate a little more time in what I think time is and what I believe is real. The pen with which I write integrates what I think, making my mind something real, physical and authentic. Connected to everything, but being a little less than everything. Because this way I can always generate truth. Everything has information and nothing is less than me nor am I less than anything. I live in constant culmination of truths expanding in a spiral. A thought that is founded through the exploration and interpretation of what you believe may be true. Trying to generate a reality that makes sense so that my physical form believes that it can survive here. Bond jumps between electrons generating a toroid of electromagnetism in search of the alienation of electronic bonds at light frequencies at a central point. We are small computers with microscopic links exchanging information with another light residue trying to imagine a difference to think that what we think is worth something in some way, and that separates us from something we were or will be. Time exists in the generation of reality in a way as surreal as we exist. For a second, we only think about what we are not. We live in constant expansion, a fusion of something that generates a memory, spending a lot of energy trying to remember who I am.

About desires and time

All desires tend to come true, but in a time that, in absolute terms, does not exist and is an illusion: the idea of time itself.

From within this illusion, the desires of the past and the desires of the present struggle against the desires of the future.

So, the consequences of a lot of things we are experiencing now, and that we do not understand, are the tension between our desires for the future and those of the present and the past.

Buddhism Dark night- anxiety

I started having awakening type experiences and insights over a year ago. I have tended to go between momentum and “stuck” since then, with moments of despair- then clarity.

This time there’s a steady anxiety, very steady, I’ve been observing it, it’s difficult, generally I’ve been able to see it’s “general”. I’m finding it so hard though- and no one seems to be around all of a sudden, the people I would have turned to. anyone have any guesses? Break down or break through.

I know this isn’t a whole lot of info but if anyone has anything on their own experience they’d like to share (nb not Christian well versed in it but haven’t felt called- despite the terminology I’m using here)

Thanks

Discussion The Aura Farming of the Ego vs. The Enlightened Mirror of Simple Souls...

"Aura farming," a term so popular nowadays among teenagers, is perfectly defined by three words: pose, ego, and superficiality. It reduces a person's authenticity, being, or wholeness to a simple scoreboard in a relentless pursuit of external validation.

Ultimately, it is a clear symptom of the spiritually degenerate times we live in, where everything is turned into a commodity, a facade, or a product to be consumed and "sold" on social media. The mystic Teresa of Ávila called the mind the madwoman of the house, which is now wilder and more untethered than ever, hunting like a junkie for what it is addicted to, feeding the persona and the ego. In the face of this constant urge to put on a show and rack up virtual points, the true alternative remains what it has always been: the simplicity of Being and the quietness of ordinary life, which require neither applause nor outside approval, neither pose nor stories...

Today, we are witnessing a total disconnection from reality and from Being itself. The madwoman of the house has found in mobile phones and social networks the perfect dealer to supply its daily dose of superficial validation. For this reason, recovering today the gaze of Western mystics like Marguerite Porete, Teresa of Ávila, John of the Cross, Brother Lawrence, Meister Eckhart, and so many others, or the yogis of the East, is not just a spiritual option; it is almost an act of pure sanity.

Fortunately, the worse everything gets, the closer our liberation is, as the Nazarene already warned us in the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 21, Verse 28, when he said that when these things begin to take place, we should stand up and lift up your heads, because our redemption is drawing near.

A New Earth is ALREADY emerging, here and now, in the hearts of those simple souls who live their daily lives beyond the illusion of separation. These simple souls are nothing in terms of aura in the eyes of the world; they surrender and allow themselves to be consumed by the burning fire of Being. They are nothing and nobody. And the truth is, one must die to the small self to be reborn as one, so that there is no longer any separation between the lover and the Beloved, between you and everything that surrounds you. Ultimately, let us go beyond the superficial, as Marguerite Porete encourages us, to find ourselves in the mirror of simple souls, that mirror the mystic spoke of, a mirror reflecting God, the Whole, He who is LOVE itself, or whatever you wish to call it. There is no separation. There never was.

So-called spiritual seekers are not free from this. What's more, without knowing it, many of them are addicted to farming spiritual aura. The truth is, there is an excess of Christians, Buddhists, and a need for more Christs, more Buddhas... Less spiritual ego, and more Being.

Aura farming? Better to format the hard drive, and be nothing. In doing so, we are everything. And that is something you can do in your boring and ordinary daily life, which, for you who do not farm aura, is neither boring nor ordinary; it is all there is and all that is, you need nothing else. When you are nothing and nobody, stripped of any pose or disguise, you become one with LOVE itself, and its instrument in this world. Out of emptiness, which is neither a void nor an absence of things, you emerge as what you truly are: one with everything. We could say, as Thich Nhat Hanh rightly states, that we inter-are. We are One.

All spiritual currents, as opposed to mere religious ones, speak to us of this unity, of this absence of separation from Being. Advaita Vedanta reminds us of this through non-duality, pointing out that the individual self, Atman, and the ultimate reality, Brahman, are not separate, dissolving the illusion of the "I" into pure, undivided Consciousness. The Buddha teaches us the same through the realization of Anatta, showing us that there is no independent self, and that by emptying ourselves of the independent ego, we cease to resist life and awaken to interconnectedness with all things. Jesus himself speaks of this absolute union when he prays for his disciples in the Gospel of John, Chapter 17, Verse 21, asking that they all may be one, just as the Father is in Him, and He is in the Father, so that they also may be one in Us.

There is a beautiful spiritual story regarding this absolute surrender, recorded by the Jesuit Father Juan de Loyola in his work The Life of Father Bernardo de Hoyos published in 1734. During a mystical marriage experience, Jesus appeared to the young Spanish mystic and told him that from then on, he could call and sign yourself Bernardo de Jesús, because he was Bernardo de Jesús, and He was Jesús de Bernardo, sharing both his honor and his own. It is the total collapse of the boundaries of the self, where the drop completely dissolves into the Ocean, and the Ocean becomes the drop. There is no separation, there never was.

Stop counting points for a ghost that doesn't exist; format the hard drive, dissolve the pose, and finally dare to Be nothing, so you can Be Everything. It is simply about Being, right here, in your ordinary and daily life.

How do you see this trap of the ego trying to "farm an aura" or build a spiritual identity, instead of just dissolving into the simple mirror of Being? I would love to hear your insights.

Note 1:

The madwoman of the house is the term Teresa of Ávila uses to refer to the mind and the imagination. You can find her brilliant analysis of how it operates and distracts us from God's presence throughout her work The Interior Castle, specifically in the Fourth Mansions. In her original Spanish texts, she also uses other wonderfully vivid metaphors to describe this unceasing mental noise. She calls the restless mind a clacking mill-clapper because of its endless, repetitive grinding of thoughts, and a restless, flighty butterfly that refuses to stay still in the Silence of God.

Note 2:

"Inter-are" is a literal translation of the term "Interbeing", coined by the Vietnamese Buddhist master Thich Nhat Hanh in the 1980s. He created the verb "to inter-be" to express the absolute reality of interconnectedness famously stating that nothing can exist by itself alone; everything has to "inter-be" with everything else. When he wrote, "We do not exist independently. We inter-are," he was pointing to the exact same truth shared by the advaita vedanta (of non-duality) and the Mystics: the total dissolution of the illusion of a separate, isolated self.

An important step to improving your life

To introduce myself, my name is William Cordingley and I've been on my spiritual path for 50+ years now.

I love to support people and provide wanted guidance in their awakening. So I jumped onto Reddit today to check it out. Perhaps there is a place for me here or in another Reddit community.

Also, to introduce myself, I'm posting a slightly edited recent blog post from my website. It's based on the truism that everything that happens to us and through us does happen for a reason and that reason is always to serve our highest good--as humans and as the spiritual beings that we are at our core...

One very important first step in making your life better, more what you want it to be, is to not to fight or resist what you don’t like that’s going on in your experience.

This may come as a surprise to you, but our first step when faced with any negative emotion or situation is always, always to accept what is going on, even if it's just for a few moments.

The next time something happens you don’t like, instead of getting upset and letting your emotions take over and figuring out how you’re going to fight it, or avoid it or deny it, do this:

Take a slow, deep breath into your abdomen (or two or three) and relax.

As upsetting as it is, you don’t have to fight this. It’ll work its way through your experience eventually, maybe soon. But, if you resist it, it’ll hang around longer and may even escalate into a bigger, more emotional issue.

Instead, as you breathe deeply, think to yourself “Huh, that doesn’t feel very good. But I’m just going to accept and allow this situation to be what it is. I’m doing something different than I normally would…I’m going to observe it as well as my reaction to it.”

Then do just that! Just become an observer of the situation. Rise above it instead of taking the easy way and getting caught up in the web of emotional entanglements that scatter your energy and disempower you.

Your inaction doesn’t mean you agree with what’s happening or you’re weak and incapable of changing things. It actually shows you are strong. You’re able to keep your cool—your serenity—despite what’s going on. And that, my friends, is worth a lot in this crazy world of constant emotional traps and potholes.

Discussion Help me start my journey.

In the recent eight months, I’ve battled anxiety and depression in a way unfamiliar to me in my 53 years of life. Even so, I subscribe to the belief that my higher self preordained this opportunity, so here I grow.

My life and way of thinking are shaped by my career as an attorney. I became masterfully adept at micro-analyzing everything from every angle. It became my default way of dealing with everything. I completely ignored the absence of any spiritual connection in my life.

I’ve begun to explore that missing connection. Through prayer, I’ve felt some relief from the anxiety and depression. Some synchronous moments make me believe I’m on the right track. I want to meditate. I want to find my purpose. I want to be a force of love and goodness in the world.

Where do I go from here?
