Dropping flight courses
I have decided to discontinue my training at Riddle. I plan to switch my major to Aeronautics and finish my training at a Part 61 school. I know this would disqualify me from getting my R-ATP, but I plan to work as a CFI for a while, so it really makes no difference to me. Does anyone know how I can give up my flight block while I work on switching majors?

They’ll likely have you submit the online form first to change the major

Can I ask why you are dropping it? Which certifciation were you working on?

I was working on IR. Switching to part 61 makes most sense with my schedule as well as financially. I really enjoy the flexibility of part 61. This is not to deter anyone from Riddle. I know people who love Part 141. It's just not for me.

Do you think it would be faster to get IR at riddle or part 61?

9/10 times, part 61's gonna allow you to do your certs a lot faster
I did ppl in 4 weeks and IR in around 2-3

Does the quick pace of 61s outweigh the R-ATP benefit at 1000hrs ?

What I personally think as an int. student is that, the current and foreseeable job markets flooded with over qualified pilots which is gonna cause and is causing stagnation in hiring. This is bad because if big airlines are not hiring, regionals are also not hiring, etc. Thus your chance of being hired with an ratp and 1000 hours is little when the markets flooded with people with 3000+ hours. (Plus you're mostly likely graduating riddle with like 250-3xx???)
Now, riddle if you do the fast track cfi, guarantees a interview where i hear most applicants are hired for part-time. If you think this might be more interesting for you than to go and CFI or work find hours outside then flying with riddle might be better. (tho i hear part time CFI doesn't get a lot of hours or pay)

Go to ERNIE central and they can assist - since the school year started it’ll be busy FYI
