So in Taiwan your wife is entitled to her privacy even if she's cheating on you on your own home.

legal Why are male disadvantages taken less seriously?

I keep seeing arguments over whether “misandry” is real, so I wanted to look at things that can actually be measured instead of just arguing over the word.

One example is criminal justice. The U.S. Sentencing Commission looked at more than 300,000 federal cases from 2017–2021. After controlling for the personal and offense characteristics available in their data, women received sentences 29.2% shorter than men and were 39.6% more likely to receive probation. Even among people who were imprisoned, women's sentences were 11.3% shorter. The USSC doesn't say this proves discrimination, and points out that some factors weren't available in the data. But the difference itself is real.

Then there are countries where military service is compulsory for men but not women. That's a pretty straightforward example of the law treating the sexes differently.

There's also the issue of male victims. UN guidance on sexual violence explicitly recognizes that men and boys can be victims too. So it's reasonable to ask whether legal systems and institutions actually give male victims the same recognition and protection.

Even the Council of Europe has acknowledged that sexism, social norms and gender stereotypes can negatively affect men and boys, and has adopted guidelines specifically addressing this.

I'm not saying this proves that society hates men. I'm saying that these are real things that happen, and they deserve to be looked at seriously.

If a sex-based disparity affects women, we investigate it. If one affects men, why shouldn't we do the same?

If there's a legitimate explanation for the difference, that's fine. But we should actually investigate it instead of deciding beforehand that it isn't worth asking about.

Isn't that what equality is supposed to mean?

social media “Believe all victims”

Post image
172 Upvotes

This is a classic case of “only 0.000000001% of allegations are false” rhetoric. I believe false accusations are a crime you can be a victim of, so I find it interesting that people like this will preach “believe victims” then say stuff like this. If you really support victims, why would you not believe a victim of defamation and automatically assume they’re guilty?

Found these comments under a post that described a situation that had nothing to do with gender. Could anyone explain the psychology behind this tendency to jump to conclusions and forget to differentiate between being mean and being physically violent?

(Besides misandry, of course)

And tell me anti man sentiments are not a problem to me or real life if I ignore all social media and shut my eyes from them?

Also idk like I get men abused women and oppresed them. You talk about it, but why you have to hate all? Will you say same for black peoples? Or Islam? Or? idk why we have to be a bigot?

idk I just wanna hate humanity tbh. I don’t know I sometimes feel I will become a girl then, idk. like this life as man just suck even if I don’t tick off myself as Male or Female in forms.

God forbid people care about minorities and men at the same time. And forgive me for my ignorance, but is any woman getting called a “triggered feminist” for talking about having experienced racism?

Misogyny is when man takes comically sized bowl and eats everything. That's why "50/50" is bad and rigged against women.

social media "A little reminder that misandry is just as harmful as misogyny because they promote divisiveness and prejudice."

Posted this on r/leftwingmaleadvocates and felt it was worth sharing here as well. Found this comment on a Twitter/X post and felt it was worth sharing here. Occasionally once in a while you find postings of both intelligence and value like this. The poster is absolutely correct in that misandry is just as harmful, divisive and prejudiced as misogyny is, no matter how much misandrists themselves want to downplay or mitigate it or outright deny it as existing. I hate it so much when they do either and also claim it's not harmful like misogyny, when it in fact causes a great deal of harm and continues to do so. The major misandrist bias in schools and courts that's caused male students to comprise the majority of dropouts and innocent men often unfairly treated in the legal system, how male victims of violence, abuse, rape, etc. (especially by women) still go unrecognized and unhelped, men still having to register for conscription, the vast majority of homeless people and suicides being male, etc. as well as denying the fact there's plenty of women who harm, rape and even outright kill men/boys. Even if the numbers may not be as high as the other way around, still doesn't change or negate the fact it happens. Yet misandrists will still claim misandry isn't a major issue or even real.

Unfortunately the constant ignoring and dismissal of misandry and downplaying it has been a major reason in recent times why the Left has been doing so poorly with males and was especially bad during the 2024 elections. I'm a very liberal and left-wing person with most of my views and hate so much how misandry is ignored and dismissed so much and treated like a joke, when it needs to be acknowledged and treated as seriously as misogyny. Doing so would do so much to improve the left's standing with male voters and now is a very critical time to do so.

Women have said for decades for men to leave them alone, because men are so annoying and dangerous. But when men finally listen to that. All of a sudden men are called paranoid incels who need therapy.

social media Trivializing conversion therapy and sexual violence against gay men

Thumbnail
gallery
68 Upvotes

Video is a skit depicting sensationalized violence by police officers (paid actors pretending to be one) who try to 'convert' an effeminate gay man into becoming straight. One police officer pushes the gay man into a woman's breasts, while the woman reaches lower and tries to grip him into a hug as he falls to the floor. The officer then slaps his chest, and the video ends with the two officers taking him away. It is unclear whether or not the skit portrays the gay man sympathetically without translating the audio.

Although there are no official anti-gay hate crime statistics, LGBT people in Brazil are deeply threatened by violent crime. According to LGBT rights group Gay Group of Bahia, in 2022, 242 LGBT individuals in Brazil were killed violently. 52% of such individuals are gay men, while 42% are travesti or transfems (who face 19% proportionally higher risk of violent crime). Trans men are counted seperately; they face intense discrimination and have accounted for 1 known case in 2022. Some deaths do not have anti-LGBT motivation while others are brutal anti-LGBT attacks - 12 (once a month on average!) of the 242 homicides are stonings of gay men and travesti/transfems. It appears that the gay individual in this video is depicted as a crossdresser as he has tanlines consistent with female clothing.

Thread is full of predictable 'lucky boy' comments from men, or glorification of violence against gay men. None of the comments in the screencaps seem to mention that it's staged (EDIT: except for one who is contemplating about calling the man a "dumbass") and they are all acting like some kind of justice has been served. So doomed. How can we stop misandry when men are this uncoordinated and willing to hurt themselves like this? Why don't LGBT men count as men?

meta Feminism isn't the problem. Bigots are.

In this space, I see a lot of anti-feminism, but that's not really how it works. Feminism, at its most basic level, is equality for women. The problem, is bigots, calling them feminists, using it to hate people.

I'm going to go with the trans thing for a bit here. In the anti-transgender space, people calling themselves feminists will go on rambles on how trans women are a danger to womanhood or whatever other bullshit. Now, many of these people call themselves feminists. They are not feminists. They are a bunch of fucking idiots using something to uplift one group to put another down.

Same thing with misandry. Feminists want equality. Feminists don't hate men. Idiots spreading hate in the name of feminism, arenot feminists.

Long story short, don't complain about feminists, they're normal people. Idiots are the problem.
