I DON'T GET IT *explodes* I HATE SPICE I HATE SPICE I HATE SPICE
I see so much online about how great spicy food is. I can not stand it. It's horrible and I hate it so so so much. I genuinely don't get the appeal of spicy food. I don't get why others like spicy food... Why do people LIKE burning their mouths? Why???
I try to eat something that is supposedly only mildly spicy and supposedly tastes SO good and it feels like my mouth is on fire and it takes at least ten-twenty minutes to stop feeling like my mouth is burning. I have the spice tolerance of the average white person because of my sensory issues I think (not really I like seasoning just not spice. Ever. In any food. No exceptions)
Story time that's deeply related to this post... One time I was at an aunt's house and my aunt cut up some watermelon for us and I LOVE watermelon 10/10 food. So of course I immediately started eating it the second she served it to the people at her house. But there was something Weird about the watermelon... It was spicy. Watermelon is not a spicy food. I asked everyone else about this and nobody else thought it was spicy. After trying to figure out the reason it was spicy to me, the only conclusion that could explain it was that my aunt used the same knife or cutting board (I don't remember which this was back in like 2021 or 2022 maybe my memory isn't great) that she had used to cut something spicy, and despite washing it I could still taste the spice because of my autism. This has been repeatedly proved to most likely be the case because of me repeatedly finding not spicy food spicy, and this only applying to food other people cut (and mainly when they were sure they had cut something spicy for themselves as the last food they used the knife/cutting board for)...
I don't get the appeal of spice. I can't even handle the most mild spicy stuff. Sorry if there's any misspellings I low-key just had a mental breakdown (do not ask about this do not comfort me about this do not mention this in your replies. It's okay I'm okay now if I think about what caused it again too hard I'm going to have another mental breakdown probably. I just wanted to explain away any weird writing and or misspellings) and felt the need to get out the rest of my emotions by complaining about a non-issue so this probably isn't that greatly written,, I just hate spicy food a lot. It's the one thing I just don't get why people like at all. I can usually at least understand people liking things I don't (relevant example: onions. I hate onions so much but I can get the appeal at least a bit) but spice? Why? Why is this enjoyable to eat for anyone? Spice only makes my mouth feel like it's on fire. It's barely even a flavor to me, it's just fake fire that doesn't technically hurt most people. I just don't get it... No bad feelings to anyone who likes spice it's just the worst food thing ever to me.
