General Discussion heartbroken and empty.
it is so hard to watch my siblings follow this path. my baby sister just left on a mission. she was sobbing saying goodbye. she was scared. theyre just kids still, it’s so messed up now that i can see it clearly. she’s going to experience a lot of pain from being a mission that she wont share or even be able to put into words. she’s so young. she turned 18 a couple weeks ago. I feel like it’s so dystopian to just send your child away with little communication and no real support, in a strict shaming environment. I’m so scared because she has an eating disorder and I know the eating culture for sister missionaries can get dicey. all I want in the world is to be able to tell her what I honestly think. to help her get out and be free. it’s so hard guys, it makes me so sad. how do you cope? we’ve been best friends since childhood, she’s so smart and she cares so much about equality on all fronts. I just truly believe she would understand if I talked to her. but I know that’s a mistake, especially on a mission. it feels horrible to watch. has anyone ever gotten through to a missionary before?

Don't go into your whole belief system, but I would say something to her like, "A mission isn't right for everyone. If you ever need help coming home, just let me know."
Be an open, soft spot for her to land. She may need some judgement free help.
