Discussion My Aunt called my beard disgusting while standing in line for food at my oldest brothers funeral

I know my Aunts on my dad's side don't like my beard, I couldn't care less, 3 months ago, I was at my mother's funeral, standing in line, and as she comes thru the line, she points to her chin and says "whats this", and I'm like, it's a beard, and I like my beard, to which she says, "does food get all over in it", so I stopped talking to her, well, my oldest brother just died two weeks ago, and today was his funeral, I didn't interact with her at all the whole time, but I went and stood in line for food that they were serving to the family, and she came in and got behind me, and she points to her chin again, and says "whats this" to which I say, "a beard", she then says, it's disgusting, it's like, woman, I normally see you what, once every couple of years, and every time I see you, you have to make a comment about my beard, and at my moms and brothers funeral no less, it's like, what kind of messed up person are you, so I sent a text to my dad, and said there is something deeply wrong with your sister, and if I never interact with her again, it would be too soon.

And my wife likes my beard, my kids like my beard, I get asked to participate in beard contests all the time, I take good care of it, regardless, though, even if I didn't take care of it, and it really did look disgusting, why would you say that to someone in the fing line at his oldest brother's funeral?

You should have started making rude comments about her beard

Just low key tell her it's almost as good as hers!

My exact thought, jealousy is a mean guide

"I can shave my beard off anytime i want, but you'll have to put some real work into not being a bitch"

EDIT: Of course thats not suitable funeral talk either, but that thought would disarm the hurtful comment.

We threw my uncle and his wife out of my father's funeral for less. You should have shown her the door. Fuck her.

She sounds like an old Aunt from Greece i have. I had the exact same thing. At a family gathering, she asked me once "why did you leave a beard? you look like a priest." I just laughed.

After a few months when it she said "Why you grow it more now you look like t@liban!" and giggled.

I simply said back "Why do you grow your mustache? You look like a man! You have to shave it because food is gonna get all over it."

She fckin lost it and a huge argument happened telling my mom "he is so rude? you didnt teach him manners?"

To then i answered "I've known you my entire life, you've never had manners, always condescend others and think your life has meaning. Well it doesn't you mean nothing to no one. Fuck off out of my house and when i come to your funeral, i'll make sure my fellow priests send you to hell" lol what happened next was biblical!

Im truly and terribly sorry for your losses my dude! Seriously cut people like this from your life.

It's like, I already have nothing to do with this woman, growing up, all of her siblings called her Corhnry, my dad says to just try to ignore her, I told him I want nothing to do with the woman, it's like, really, I'm not even mad at the woman, I could give two shits about what ever happens to her, I don't want her in my life, I don't want to interact with the woman in any way.

I feel you man! You can either block her number, ignore her, forget about her in general. Or you can confront her and tell her the truth. My opinion is it will make you feel relieved of her.

I had a very complex relationship with my brother; I loved him, but he could also be a complete asshole. He was my boss for a long time; he basically mentored me, but having him as a boss was not fun, lets just say when he made a mistake, it was all hands on deck as to how we were going to fix it, when I made a mistake, it was an existential crissis that showed I just wanted to destroy the company, I left 10 years ago, and would do contract work for him sometimes, that relationship was much better, he was a great person to work with, he was not a great person to work for.

“I respect your opinion. Might you give me some advice considering your beard is so full, thick and luscious?”

Tell her that her mustache is disgusting.

Ask her if her mustache matches the carpet

I would have dismantled that woman with my words to the point she'd reconsider ever speaking publicly again.

I’d have told her to fuck off. That’s mean and cruel to say that at funerals.

Next time she points to her chin and asks "what's this?" tell her "That's the chin just below the nose which is always poking into other people's business where it does not belong!"

Load up your plate full of gravy and beet salad and trip in front of her. Apologise and wipe it with a tissue. Apologise and get her a glass of water. Apologise. Call her up later and apologise.

Years ago I returned to work from PTO with a goatee. One of our office admins told me she didn't like it. She said she'd never met a man with a goatee that was a decent person.

I smiled as I replied, "Well, this is my opportunity to be the exception for you. I was on the fence about keeping it, so thanks."

At 18 I went into the Marine Coprs in 2001. Came home on leave at some point covered in tattoos. I already had tattoos when I enlisted, just doubled by the time I was on leave. My aunt (dads sister) who was like a second mother to me as a child, who I hadn’t seen in a while due to being deployed, told me “you look like a clown”. Mind you I had just returned home from Iraq. Probably not what I wanted to hear, good thing I didn’t care, I smiled and said thanks and continued on with my visit.

I just replied with, that's your opinion, and turned around and didn't talk to her, she then tried to give me a hug and tell me she didn't mean to offend, I didn't respond, there were a million things I wanted to say, but I just really didn't want to talk to her again, she is a person that has added nothing to my life, and from everything I've seen, she just tears people down.
