New player

Hey, new player here.

Since years i love playing games like factorio (logistics etc) like dsp, satisfactory or other games.

I tried factorio's demo months ago but i didn’t like it idk why, maybe because my worlds got "erased" because the tutorial cut the game with missions.

Now I'm asking here the question if some people can help me because i don’t know if i should buy it or not.

If yes should I do again the tutorial or just launch me in a new world.

Also what are the best settings to play for a new player like me ?

Either way yes. The tutorial is just the tutorial, it a little unfortunate little carries over each level. But the full game, the Freeplay mode, is yours to command. If that impermanence was your only gripe, def get it and play a default game

I'd recommend going with default settings first. Or if you really dont like the idea of enemies expanding try rail world as a different map setting.

Yah. I have a tendency to play with nerfed biters.. but it's probably best to experience them first to see if you enjoy playing with them, or like me you want to minimize that interaction.

Others have said default is good.

It's worth knowing that early aggression from enemies is quite different between a forest start or a desert start.

You can get away with not planning too much defense early in a forest start. A desert start, you should include defense in your planning right away.

Default is great to figure out what you like. But maybe if the whole map preview is yellow, reroll a few times until you see some greenery, otherwise you're going to have the Factorio RTS experience rather than the Factorio base builder experience

You've already played the demo and other factory games, Buy and go for a new game immediately, sounds like you liked the game enough to hate it when your save got axed

Just go for the new world and discover new problems and solutions as you play, plus you will still have access to hints/tutorials.

Default settings are fine, maybe Railworld preset if you want more reasons to build a big rail network.

Peaceful exists, yes. Railworld's geared towards driving you to use trains, it spreads resources out further, and in turn, disables biter nest expansions, so where they have nests at world start is where they have nests period. They're still not peaceful in the defaults for rail world, they'll still fight, but they won't prop up piles of nests right next to your walls, or "reclaim" territory you've cleared.

There are various settings that change biter difficulty, including a setting to disable them completely.

As for the railworld, it essentially makes ore spawns more rare but also more rich. So you essentially have to travel (trains!) further, but are rewarded with bigger/richer patches of resources. I think this mode also disables biter expansion, so they are far less of a threat as they can't take over the known map if your ignore them for too long.

If you do buy it - and obviously everyone here is biased in favour of the game, I'd recommend using the default settings, but checking the preview map has plenty of green. Grass squares and trees soak up more pollution which means the biters will be a fair bit more aggressive if you start in a dessert.

So, when your starting your new freeplay world, be aware of the pollution mechanics, having a seed with a ton of trees is easier to work with then desert, since trees and grassy tiles absorb more pollution then the sand tiles.
