Planting/Growing First timer

First time owning a fern. Any advice is welcomed!

That looks like an asparagus fern, which I believe is not a true fern and actually a part of the asparagus family. Still very pretty but it does have slightly different care than true ferns. I don't have one, so look into the care for your specific plant.

Asparagus setaceus, not a fern. They're quite tolerant of abuse. They have tuberous roots below ground which store water, rather underwater than over.

I once had this plant "die" and become completely yellow years ago. It came back next spring. I still have it and it ocassionally grows very long stems. Lenght in meters.

Great one to start! They are much more hardy than a fern but just as beautiful. Also make sure not to over water, they have thick tuber roots that will rot if you go overboard (lol guess how I know that). I water mine maybe once a week or when the soil is mostly dry.

I use distilled water w/ half strength fertilizer and inserted bottom watering spikes into the pot and water from bottom. Mine seems to be love it and doing great!

Thank you I am the wife and Iv never had a plant like this one so I want to be sure we don’t kill it. Just got a humidifier today!

If you're in Australia you must not keep or distribute Asparagus africanus (Asparagus fern) it is a weed of national significance. They are extremely invasive and destroy our ecosystems.

Idk what they're like in other countries?

This is my nightmare as a garden maintenance worker, near impossible to get rid of and nigh unkillable, keep some nice uncompacted soil and water once a week if soil is dry and it will keep on living.
