Colin Ryan - the English-language voice of Alphinaud - is currently starring as "L" in Death Note: The Musical in London. (The show is amazing, by the way. Really liked the music, and was particularly impressed by the staging. The cast were excellent.)

Gadget Jr and myself hung out at the stage door with a large number of others, and got to meet most of the cast, including Colin himself, who kindly provided us with an autograph and this selfie. What a nice chap. :-)

I said I was a fan of Alphinaud; he said, "me too". I asked him how Evercold was coming along. He said, "Ah - you'll have to see." You heard it here first.

As monster hunter fans and newer players of the game (started 2months ago-ish), a friend and I had the goal of unlocking this Trial to get the mount. We finally reached it a couple of nights ago and started the grind unsynced (He lvl 100 and me lvl 83). We got a whistle drop on the very first hunt and we were so happy. I got lucky and rolled higher and got it!

Then, on the second hunt...Not even a treasure coffer. Same thing for the next couple of runs.

"Wait....This can't be right," we thought. Turns out we had no clue how lucky we had been to even see a whistle drop, and on the first run at that! After looking up the drop rates online, I want to express my sincere admiration for people who farmed the mount back when it was endgame content and you couldnt speedrun it the way we can now, unsynced. That's true dedication XD

Anyway, will have to keep grinding cause we still need to do it a couple more times so my friend can straight up buy it using the scales+ (Or maybe it'll drop, who knows)

The loporrits exist because Hydaelyn needed them to get the moon ready for when everyone on Etheirys had to bail. Thats the official story but they also look like rabbits. And they spent forever growing huge fields of carrots up there.

Rabbit and carrots. That combination is kinda the exact thing you need for a stew..?

So maybe they werent only there to build stuff lol. Maybe they were the backup plan for when a bunch of starving people showed up and there wasnt enough food? Fast breeding, easy to keep, already farming the exact vegetable that would go really nice with them

Maybe the carrots were just meant as the first half of the meal?? Idk lmao but I wouldnt mind getting a taste of Hydaelyns finest meat bunnies

Trekking through the MSQ yet again (as a certified altaholic), I just did my current alt's In From the Cold duty. As the title states, this one is one of my favorites, and I just wanted to take a moment to gush about it.

• Unlike most stealth sections in FFXIV, this one does it right. Magitek enemies that you can't afford to fight, but can avoid via routing alone. Enemy soldiers that you are encouraged to stealth around, but which can be fought in limited number if needed or desired. Abundant routes through the wreckage that avoid the crowded streets.
• Good variety between the exploration/stealth section at the beginning, the shooting gallery in the middle, and the group fight at the end.
• The first section manages to reward exploration in-and-of-itself, rather than making you feel like you're wasting time if not beelining for the objectives.
• I find it to be quite the successful exercise in granting additional perspective. Put in the shoes of a rank-and-file Garlean soldier, you're far weaker than in nearly any other duty. But weak is not the same thing as helpless, and the interplay with how it demonstrates relying on their technologies is fascinating.
• Every time the explosion kills the Garlean citizens I've known and fought with for all of 3 minutes, it hits me in the feels yet again.

Lovely solo duty, and always a highlight of an MSQ playthrough. And just before one of my favorite dungeons, at that.
