What was the injury or what is the timeframe?

Not having him in beginning of session not the end of the world as we can get some Freshman experience on the non conference.

Need him back when Big 10 schedule starts though.

The lack of details is the biggest concern....if it was minor you'd think they would say something.

Saying 6-8 weeks, not sure of the injury

From what the online forums say (the experts not Joe Schmo) it could range anywhere from 4-6 weeks to several months. They aren’t releasing the nature of the surgery.

This is a fucking disaster. Mirk is the #1 reason we are ranked top 3 preseason. This just derailed the entire offseason. AHHHHHH

Sounds like a fracture. Much better than a soft-tissue injury if so. I’ll wait to hear more before I freak out.

Yeah could be back practicing in 6 weeks if it's a fracture. That's plenty of time.

I heard Jones Fracture, about 3 months out.

Yeah the surgery for that is pretty easy and common.

Better now than February. He’ll heal quickly and be back for the conference schedule

So disappointing. I was really hoping we could avoid major injuries for once...

Even if he is back later this year it still sucks he will miss all the practice time and time to gel with the team. Just brutal.

Well crap. He was fantastic last year.

This kind of season is too rare. No more injuries. Get Mirk healthy for opening night and let’s see what this team can do.

One of the insiders on the Illini message board posted that he expects he will be back by late Oct, worst case Nov.

Do we have athletic trainers or like someone in charge of preventing 50 injuries from happening every practice?

Agree lack of details is concerning.
