Lightning Storm
Forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this, I am simply looking for insight.
My boyfriend and I were playing a game during a thunder storm on our (only 1 year old ) $450 75" Amazon insignia fire TV.
Lightening struck somewhere close by, a "zzzzp" noise came out of our TV, and boom, TV off, won't turn back on.
My boyfriend asked Google AI what we can do and it's saying to buy a new power board and it's super easy to replace yourself.
Does this sound right and light a good idea? Just want insight.

Could be, but maybe the lighting has destroyed more. I would recommend to buy a new TV. Less cost.

A friend of mine has his back yard setup like a resort and has around 45 TVs. He gets most of his at Goodwill for as little as $25. He suggests going to the more affluent areas around you and check for TVs there. People that are upgrading to 75" are usually getting rid of fully working 55' TVs. Chances are you can find an almost new one for less than it would cost to repair one.

I'm not sure what country you're in, if you're in the US, Best Buy is a good place to look.

Lightning often damages way more than just the power board. HDMI & antenna board get blown.
+ you don't really want electronics that's had a decent lightning hit, there is often other damage that shows up in the next days/few weeks.
Get a new one.

Depending on what surge protector was in use they might get you a new one. I have several surge protectors that have a protection policy that will replace anything plugged into it that fails because an electrical surge. Never tested that warranty so I have no idea how easy or hard it would be to place a claim but it might be worth looking into.

I am definitely looking into this. Thank you for that comment bc it's like ....I did everything right. 😭 Except for get that fucking warranty. I feel so dumb for that. But that's how poor I was, I didn't want to spend the extra $60 when the tv was already bought on a payment plan 😭 we only needed a new tv bc we broke the one we had during our move. Its just a shit show so I'm definitely gonna look into this. Our PS5 also got got since it was plugged into the tv. Its just insane.

For the future make sure the TV is plugged into surge protector.
