Question Surefire G2X clone?
Clone G2X Pro?
Purchased a G2X Pro on eBay.
Asked the seller if it’s authentic. Response was yes.
I compared to my genuine G2X Pro. Differences in weight, bezel, and light color. Also the chip inside the light body is different. This is a model that has 600 lumens laser etched. Versus my genuine 600 lumen does not. Mine may be an older style. Also, the tail cap clicks feel different. For those that have a G2X pro with a laser etched marking, can you look into the light body and tell me if chip board looks like mine?
Pic 1. Genuine on the left.
Pic 2. Genuine.
Pic 3. Clone? Note the markings.
Pic 4. Note the sticker is really weird. I have a dozen Surefires. Never had a sticker misprint.
I usually buy at a store. Bought this on eBay for $60.

I would choose to return it. Too many fake Surefire and Streamlight on eBay. Trust the AD, that's basically the only way to guaratee you get an authenic one since you can't just buy it off Surefire. Also, there is no counterfeit Chinese brand flashlights.

Given how long it’s been in production, probably legit. Emitters aren’t sold forever, manufacturers don’t always sell the same say reflectors forever so I would be surprised if a new production light was identical to their first models.
They’re also on contract with the DoD and a few other major customers-which is probably why they haven’t updated the G2X in so long (you can’t just provide a different product because you updated it to a contract).
The bit that makes a G2X hard to clone is the up front cost of a suitable injection mould.
Someone posted up Olights ODM a few months back and they had a very G2X looking light in their lineup, so I suspect Surefire don’t actually make the G2X-or atleast not the whole thing.
r/Surefire would be the best place as they have some proper ninjas there.

I don’t see anything sketchy. They did start etching the lumens on the body.
