Infared finger lights
Hey guys, I run nods ( analog night vision ) i've been trying to find a small infared flashlight, ideally something I can strap to a finger for rummaging around in a pack or car if need be, any recommendations? There doesn't seem to be much out there.
Cheers

Assuming this request is due to helmet lights end up lighting up the whole cabin to other nods users:
I'm thinking of the dimensions restriction for strapping to a finger. I can't think anything larger than those coin battery-operated keychain light that would still allow full range of motion of your finger (even 1AAA would be a bit too long for the bones).
These ones are only be constant on/momentary on/off too so there is absolutely no risk of accidentally activating on W/R/G/B unlike the modern multi-LED ones + no hold/multi-click involved. Cons: coin batteries and runtime, possibly poor quality too (both light and keychain).

Not IR, but unless you want to pay double for an IR variant from another manufacturer:

I presume your NVGs don’t have a built in IR flood light as most should?
From experience trying to use NVGs and the flood light for up close tasks is a genuine nightmare because of the focus and having to re-adjust it constantly (even on latest gen white phos tubes the depth of focus is tiny at short range), it’s much easier to look under the NVG’s and use a small amount of visible green/red/moonlight white.
I *think* this is what most pilots do, hence why so many of them use visible light finger lights.

I'd probably just use some clip on and attach a normal(but small) infrared flashlight to the nods. Or hell, Velcro tape.
There might be some infrared flashlights compatible with the Thrym switchback. Not the same as strapping to a finger, but it can be held with one.

Can’t believe Photon is still in business!

This little guy may be interesting to you. It has white light or UV.
If you get the 'Standard Pack', it includes a strap for your wrist.

Not infrared.

Yes, I know that - that's why I stated 'white light or UV'.
I listed it as an interesting option.

It's pretty niche. You might have more success getting a cheap led light and replacing the led yourself.
