💬Discussion Now that the transfer window is over I want everyone to rate all the big 6 teams transfers 1-10. No wrong answers, but give your explanations.

Upvotes

My ratings:
Man Utd: 4.5/10, still needed reinforcements in defense and a new left back or center backs. No new striker either. We’re able to get some reinforcements in the midfield (Tielemans, Andrea Santos, and Carlos Baleba). so saves it from being lower. But the defense is still a huge issue.

Arsenal: 5/10, Bruno Guimaraes is a great signing, but they still needed more reinforcements in attack especially the left wing position. Konsa is also decent but is probably never going to play that much. Also missed a marquee signing (Alvarez, and Vini Jr) that would’ve buffed their attack tremendously. Tzolis for me is not going to cut it. And add on the fact that the sold all of their back up attackers Nwaneri, Trossard, Martinelli.

Chelsea: 6.5/10, Thought Morgan Rogers was a brilliant signing despite being expensive, Lacroix is also a solid defender addition, with additions of Valentin Barco and Palestra. However, no new major additions in the midfield which leads them tremendously short in that position especially with Caicedo being injured and Enzo being signed. If they had completed Lamine Camara I would’ve given them a 7.5 or an 8.

Liverpool: 5/10, Great attacking signings in Victor Munoz and especially Bradley Barcola, however still weak in defense. They signed Jacquet who’s decent, also brought Ronald Araujo from loan who I genuinely don’t think is good after watching at Barca. They really needed more fullbacks and more defensive reinforcements.

Man City (My Club): 7.5/10, Great Midfield Additions. Anderson and Bouaddi are both really good signings. Enzo Fernandez is a huge risk, but I’ll think he’ll do well. Was able to offload a bunch of players which helped us a lot in terms of our wages and transfers. Really like the Ndiaye signing and decent signing of Allan from Palmeiras. Would really liked another right back as we’re still short there, and taking a big risk from not signing a second striker. But honestly every time we sign a decent second striker they want to leave because they want to be the main man, which is never going to happen when Haaland is still here. So still needed smaller adjustments but considering we lost a bunch, we bought a bunch. Forgot about rulli.

Spurs: 7/10, Solid attack signings in Marmoush and Savio, don’t understand the Mudryk signing. Tosin is also decent. Also solid defensive reinforcements in senesi, van hecke and Andy Robertson. Also thought Mateus Fernandes and Tonali were good signings for their midfield. Still needed a striker, and an attacking midfielder as they lack creativity. And they still look crap.

Losers and winners of the latest Transfer market

Teams:

I think Ateletico Madrid can be a potential loser after the Alvarez saga especially if he ends up having a terrible season with them this year. > 100 million investment would be significantly affected.
Not saying they are wrong or right and I don’t blame them for selling. Just my opinion

💬Discussion Do people still watch Match of the Day?

Genuine question — do people still actually sit down and watch Match of the Day every weekend?

It used to feel like part of the Saturday routine after the football, but with highlights all over YouTube, social media, etc., I wonder if people still bother watching the whole show.

For those who still watch it, is it out of habit or because you actually prefer MOTD’s coverage?

Sabah FC went from barely existing to facing Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester United in the Champions League

Sabah FC are about to experience something that would have sounded completely impossible a few years ago.

The Azerbaijani club were only founded in 2017, and now they’re in the 2026/27 Champions League league phase alongside Europe’s biggest clubs. Their reward? Manchester United away, Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona, Napoli, Arsenal and more.

UEFA.com +1

Their first match is against Manchester United on September 10, followed by Slavia Praha, Dortmund, Viking, Barcelona, Villarreal, Napoli and Arsenal.

UEFA.com +1

On paper, this is an absolute nightmare schedule for a club with so little Champions League experience. But honestly, I think this is exactly what these competitions are supposed to be about.

Imagine being a Sabah supporter and suddenly getting to watch your team play at Old Trafford and against Barcelona. Even if they don't make the knockout rounds, this could be a historic chapter for the club.

**Do you think Sabah can realistically pick up enough points to reach the knockout playoffs, or is this draw simply too much for them?

Why do most La Liga teams have no money?

Half of La Liga teams are worth less than €100 million. They don't even make €20 million signings, or sell players for decent amounts of money in today's market. In other leagues with a dominant club, at least mid-table teams make good money from transfers, like in Serie A, the Bundesliga, and Ligue 1.

📰News Leo Messi retires from International football

https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/2094441736076513620

Me llevo recuerdos y momentos inolvidables vividos.

Translation:
After all this time that has passed since the final, and after much thought, I want to announce to everyone that I am retiring from the National Team…

It was a decision that hurt, and still hurts, to my core, but I understand that it's the right time. I swear that I always gave my all, not just in the last few years when we won everything, but before that too. I always fought and gave everything for this jersey, to bring you joy and make you proud to be Argentinian through football.

There's not much time left, and chapters are closing, and this is one that hurts me deeply. I love, loved, and will always love being on the National Team. I've given everything I have; I have nothing more to give, and besides, there are some great young players coming up behind me who deserve to be there.

Thank you for all the love and support over these 20 years. I'm going to miss hearing you all from the inside. Now I'll be just one of you, cheering and supporting you from the sidelines (through thick and thin, even more so).

Thank you to my family for always being there, for accompanying me on this beautiful but difficult journey. Thank you to each and every coach, teammate, and manager I had the privilege of sharing this experience with. I take with me unforgettable memories and moments.

I leave with the peace of mind and pride of having given you, along with my teammates, moments I never dreamed of. It was incredible to have shared it all with you. I love you all!

Thank you, God, for making me Argentinian.

Go Argentina!

*I wrote these words on July 21st, two days after the final. Today, after what happened to my dad, I'm even more convinced than before.

💬Discussion If you play football for fun, what is your main position and your archetype/play style?

I know we’re not all just fans. Plenty of us play for fun in rec leagues or even just pickup games.

For those of you who play, what kind of player are you? Strengths, weaknesses, any unusual parts of your game you think are worth sharing.

💬Discussion A club founded in 2017 got handed a nightmare draw in their debut Champions League league phase, and this is still a dream come true for them

Post image
1.9k Upvotes

Sabah FK didn't even exist eight years ago. Last season they won their first ever Azerbaijan Premier League title, broke Qarabag's grip on the top, and completed the double with the Cup too. Then fought through a brutal qualifying run just to get here. And the reward is this draw, Barcelona at home, Arsenal away, Dortmund at home, United away, plus Napoli, Villarreal, and Slavia Praha. On paper, it's a gauntlet. I genuinely think they will still pull up to the knockout stages.

Where are the attendance figures for the games, Notts County played Burton yesterday in what could be seen as an East Midlands derby, i cannot find the attendance anywhere?

Why is it in this era of crazy transfer money where average players are going for crazy prices, but yet Neymar's transfer record fee still stands?

I mean the 100 million dollar transfer fee has been broken multiple times in the last 1 year alone, mostly by players who are slightly above average.

But yet Neymar's transfer fee is still the current record even though its been like so long?

What did he even think when he signed the contract then?

The Julian situation is lowkey sad and ngl he can't blame anyone else other than him and his management team imo.
And now he is making Atleti look bad which I don't think/ see as the right thing.
What do you guys think?

Can someone explain why Victor Munoz did not grab the ball to restart the match and wasted so much time, after scoring against Forest when he knew that a draw at home was a bad result?

I mean everyone in the team including him knew full well that a draw against Forest at home was a bad result, but yet after he scored, instead of quickly trying to get hold of the ball to restart the match as soon as possible, he actually wasted a lot of time, especially since it was already near the end of the match.

His actions probably caused them to lose the chance to win the match and gain a further 2 points.

Obviously there was no guarantee they would have gone on to win the match, but history has shown time and time again that there are tons of last minute goals scored in the absolute last minute and in the last kick of the match.

Without accessing the full fixture list and I could be wrong but over last few years is it always that Madrid plays before Barca matches each time and if that’s the case is there a reason why it’s like this??
