Prospective Foster Parent Fostering on a state line (NC and SC)
Hi! My husband and I are looking to become foster parents in the near future (1-2 years). We have been trying to get connected with organizations here to prepare and answer questions, but we have had a strangely difficult time. We are in the process of house hunting in the Charlotte, North Carolina area, which is 30 minutes away from his work in a small town in South Carolina. Most of our friends and community live in the Charlotte area.
- If we end up purchasing a house in South Carolina, do we need to register as foster parents in South Carolina, and do we forfeit our ability to be foster parents in North Carolina, even though the neighborhood is on the border? Does this affect our ability to move later down the line?
- Would living in South Carolina exclude us from access to resources and organizations in the Charlotte, North Carolina area? Such as charities, community get together, things like that?
