Discussion Found TV?

Just learned about this today! Super exciting for me and I see they have some originals!

What’s the consensus on their original stuff? Anything good?

Edit: I’m seeing it’s the home to a lot of titles that I’ve never heard of before, that aren’t originals but can really only be watched there. I think that’s great. What’s it got that doesn’t get enough hype?

Help Needed What are some good Found Footage movies from European countries?

I’m embarking on a found footage tour through Europe and my hope is the community can help add to my research in finding some of the best films and hidden gems from European countries.

I‘m looking for predominantly foreign films that were made and take place on their country of origin. So no “Americans on vacation” movies or American movies that just use places like Paris or London as a setting. So no recommendations like As Above, So Below please (I’ve seen it anyway) or Chernobyl Diaries.

Additionally, I’m looking for movies I haven't seen before, which makes it a bit more difficult. I’ve seen Borderlands, Sergei Prakov, Death of a Vlogger, Troll Hunter, Ghoul, even Blue Whale.

I’m finding a lot of “group in a woods” and ”night in a haunted ___” entries, so I’d love some recommendations that include local folklore/history, varied settings, etc. I’d also love anything shot in a talking head/mockumentary style ala Horror in the High Desert or Lake Mungo. Those are my jam. Short films are also welcome!

Please make sure to include the country along with your movie recommendations, and if possible where it’s streaming or available to rent. Thanks in advance for helping stamp my passport!! ✈️🚢🚞 🚗

i apologize if these type of posts are not allowed i'll delete it if needed.

i'm trying to remember the title of this film i saw sometime last year, the basics of the plot was someone trying to investigate their classmate but they found out that something bad happened to them and i believe it was something class project related that was the cause of said tragedy.

it definitely wasn't in English, i wanna say it was in spanish or portuguese

Discussion My current Tier List of everything FF I watched

Post image
294 Upvotes

I created my own Tier List Template on TierMaker for this with over 1600 entries so far.
If you wish to rank your own movies here's the Link: https://tiermaker.com/create/xxl-found-footage-movies-and-tv-shows-16153603

IMPORTANT NOTE: There's a detailed description at the top of my Template that tells you everything that is included in it. Before anyone asks why entries like "Surf's Up" or "FLAG" are included, it's because even though they're animated works they're still mockumentaries.

What would you have ranked differently, do you agree with some of the rankings? Let me know!

Also have fun ranking movies yourself if you decide to :)

P.S. Here's a link to my ranking on the TierMaker website if the image above is not sufficient enough in terms of clarity: https://tiermaker.com/list/tv-and-movies/xxl-found-footage-movies-and-tv-shows-16153603/6573477

User Review IN OUR BLOOD (2024)

🩸 Prime, Kanopy 🎥

Filmmaker Emily Wyland reunites with estranged mother for documentary. When mother disappears, Emily and cinematographer Danny pursue clues to her whereabouts amidst traces of her past addictions.

Go in blind, endure the slow 1/3 of the movie and build up, and the payoff and mystery is worth it. Well acted, quality production, unique crafted story, and lots of surprises. It’s presented as documentary being filmed to reunite a daughter and mother, but turns into something much more sinister.

Discussion DOC_05

Hey cool cats and creeps 😎💀
Stumbled upon DOC_05 on FOUND. It’s about is a group of film students going to a cabin to shoot a film but then a stalker shows up and things start to spiral.
Nothing ground breaking, but man do I love a creepy FF set in the woods.

Lately everything is a sequel, prequel, remake, or just someone else’s reheated nachos, so movies have been a bit of a let down.

Anyone else see this one yet?

User Review Found Footage Tour of the UK

Decided the cure to the endless ”which movie should I watch?” scroll was to come up with themes. So first up, it’s a found footage tour of the UK!!

Wales - Foxhollow

A freelance videographer is hired by an eccentric trapper to search the woods for Bigfoot. Probably the weakest of the four but still had its moments. The trapper is the most fun (and scariest) part of the whole thing, which would’ve maybe been an interesting point had the creatures turned out to be simple and/or peaceful animals. But no, it’s pretty much goes the way 95% of all Bigfoot movies go. ⭐️⭐️/4

Northern Ireland - The Glenarma Tapes

Maybe I‘m a sucker for the island of me forebears, but this was an enjoyable ride. FF can sometimes be too slow of a burn, with all the scares happening in the last ten minutes, or it can spend so little time on the characters you don’t really care who gets offed. This gem jumps in with the action surprisingly early, while still doing a solid job building a world with 3D characters with backgrounds, interpersonal relationship, and motivations that drive their actions and choices. The movie isn’t reinventing the genre or anything, nor it super scary, but it has some fun twists and is very well written and fleshed out (no pun intended 🫠) ⭐️⭐️⭐️/4

Scotland - Hostile Dimensions

I should say here that I only watched movies I hadn’t already seen - and I’d already watched Death of a Vlogger and Incident at Loch Ness ages ago. So on to this obscure bit of sci-fi, and I gotta tell ya, it scratched right where I itched. I had to get out of the woods after the first two films, and I‘m a sucker for FF that isn’t about haunted places, cults, or murder. Filmmakers find a door that reveals a new dimension each time they open it. What’s on the other side is usually bad. Can they avoid getting stuck in one of these dimensions, and can they keep what’s on the other side from getting into ours? Fun stuff, doesn’t overstay its welcome. ⭐️⭐️⭐️/4

England - Exhibit A

Let’s face it, this movie is all about the journey and not the destination, because we pretty much know what the destination is going to be from the first five minutes. But this pops up on recommendation lists all the time for a reason. It’s very well acted. This is totally believable as a real family in a real neighborhood. The film is shot and sound edited in such a way that it feels like legitimate home video. There’s a very clever POV trick at about the midway point, and it adds to the visceral disquietude as we get to the climax. The subject material isn’t really my cuppa, but there’s no denying that this is a quality picture that stays with you afterwards. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/4

And that’s my Found Footage Tour of the UK! If you’ve seen any of these or have other recommendations, I’d love to hear your thoughts. I think I may head to the rest of Europe or maybe Asia next, so if you have any suggestions I’m all ears! Thanks for reading!

Discussion Ghosts!

I love FF movies with ghosts. I've seen a tremendous amount of what's out there, but I bet there are some that have slipped my gaze.

I don't mind the "ghost hunters traipse into haunted asylum and find out THE HAUNTING IS REAL" trope, but I really would love to see something original.

While not exactly found footage, a good example would be the movie "Presence," in which we see the film entirely through the spirit's eyes. A great film if you haven't experienced it.

I look forward to your recommendations. Obscure is better, but heck, I'll probably rewatch some old favorites if you remind me of them.

All I know is it is from the early 2000s.

The creatures were terrifying, particularly the in-helmet and camera visuals and the found footage aspect was so well executed. Love Moon Landing conspiracy films, so this was an absolute treat. Not a smart move to watch in the middle of the night though lol. Other than that, I can't think of a single criticism for the film right now. The director making a sequel to Backdraft of all films is kinda funny. Shoutout to the climax reveal - exceptional stuff.
