safety Mass Surveillance AI Camera Scandal Hits DFW Metroplex

Howdy fellow Friscoans.

We're a Dallas, Texas based nonprofit organization (HINAC) focused on the security, privacy, censorship, and surveillance implications of modern day technology being surreptitiously woven into the fabric of American society.

We're submitting this post to inform you of a recent scandal involving approximately 80,000 AI cameras being used by over 5,000 law enforcement departments across the United States of America resulting in stalking, false imprisonment, and protests.

An investigative journalist and privacy/security researcher named Benn Jordan recently discovered numerous Flock Safety Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras whose video feeds were publicly accessible online using a default administrative account, no login required.

It gets worse.

His proof-of-concept video demonstration showed how easy it was for him to use the camera's pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) capabilities and identify individuals, disclose sensitive information displayed on phone screens, and track routes of individual cars, over extended time intervals.

It gets even worse.

An anonymous person requested video footage of their own city's cameras, which the city subsequently denied. That person took their city to court and the judge ruled that since the cameras are taxpayer funded, the videos and information on them is also considered publicly accessible.

It is going to get even worse.

Amazon Ring just announced a partnership with Flock Safety and rumor has it, they are interested in acquiring Flock Safety.

Meaning, the broad adoption of AI-powered consumer technologies like Ring, coupled with city governments adopting Flock's AI-powered object recognition and large scale database integration, a first-of-its-kind Orwellian surveillance system could become a reality in the very near future.

See where and when you're being surveilled by visiting this Flock Camera Map tool provided by the 501c(3) nonprofit organization Banish Big Brother (see map image). And if you're scared afterwards, let that fear turn to anger.

Contact your city leaders and express your concerns ASAP. Make it known that we will not tolerate involuntary mass surveillance in our city, nor will we tolerate the lack of transparency and accountability from our leaders who allowed this to happen.

The sooner we stop this, the better. Let's stand up to mass surveillance together.

inquiries Frisco to UT Dallas Carpool/Commute Match (Fall 2026)

Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I’m a UT Dallas student commuting from the Frisco area this semester, and I’m looking to see if anyone else is making a similar drive and might be interested in carpooling to campus.

We could take turns driving or split the commute to save on gas and parking. My schedule generally has me heading to campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the mornings and I usually come back around 3:00pm-ish, but I'm flexible and happy to compare schedules to see if we match up.

Shoot me a DM or reply here if you're interested or know of any existing carpool groups!

My mom died unexpectedly and we are not able to care for him. He is 14 weeks old. He is Shepard mix. He is very sweet and smart. He knows how to sit and shake and is potty trained for the most part. He comes with food, bowls, toys and crate. He is crate trained at night. She had been training him at night in the crate. He has not had his shots yet, as she just got him a couple of weeks ago. we just want him to go to a good home. $50

social Just witnessed a car crash today!

As the title implies, I was out for a walk on Eldorado and witnessed a white F150 and a blue Tesla crash into each other. I was not able to get details on their license plates, but honestly it looked like both were at fault there, but they drove away before investigating further! Be careful around here guys, there are dangerous drivers in Frisco. Be sure to buy a Dashcam to be safe

I’m looking for a reliable plumber to replace my water heater. I currently don’t have any hot water, so I’m looking to have the old water heater replaced with a new one. If you’ve had a good experience with a local plumber who does water heater replacements, I’d appreciate any recommendations. Thank

Moved back here from Austin a year ago, I had a group out there that would play 4v4 pick up every Wednesday. I'm trying to find a pick up soccer group that I don't need an app to set up. I know the Warren Sports Complex added a futsal court.

housing Frisco is showing both buyer choice and faster-selling activity right now

We reviewed the latest Denton County neighborhood data, and Frisco showed up on both sides of the market.

  • Frisco Lakes by Del Webb Villa — #2 fastest-selling in the county
  • Frisco Lakes — #8 for highest inventory

That’s interesting because it shows how buyers can have more options in one part of Frisco while homes are still moving relatively quickly in another.

Anyone in Frisco seeing more negotiating room right now, especially in 55+ communities?

events Any specific page to reliably check for events in the area?

Hello, so this basically started off on me watching these videos like this: https://youtube.com/shorts/El6FB7uRKr8?is=azpT9LKOhPCjUuuK

Where essentially it’s just these food vendors, at these events selling food (usually some sort of limited time not like open markets where they sell produce moreso this specific one with food vendors so I guess street food festival/pop up night markets?) and I just wanted to know how I would know if these events ever happen near me or any (major) event at all? Another good example also is the Richmond night market in Vancouver as what I’m moreso specifically looking for, but in general any sort of major event for that matter. Not sure if there’s a good instagram page or website or something for that?

inquiries Looking for a murder mystery dinner that is good all around

All the experiences I've researched in the area either seem to have subpar food or the actors are too quiet and much of the audience misses part of the show. Any other murder mystery dinners that may be lesser known or that you have been a part of that was a great overall experience for you? This will be just my girlfriend and me, so not a large group

inquiries Indoor tracks?

Does anyone know if any gyms/athletic complexes in the north Frisco/Prosper/Little Elm area with indoor tracks? I can’t seem to find any aside from the Apex center in McKinney.

I’m losing my mind with this heat, all I want to do is go for a walk outside but it’s too hot. When I lived in Illinois and Nebraska, our gyms/YMCA had indoor tracks for the winter months. I’m surprised we don’t have anything similar here for the heat.

community Friday Hero Update & Thank you!

Hero is out of his third surgery, and we are REALLY hoping this was his last one!
Dr. Daniel did a secondary repair on his humerus to give it even more stability, and thankfully, it’s healing beautifully. His hip toggle had become too chronic to hold, so they converted it to an FHO. And while they were at it… Hero got neutered. 😂
Now we’re focused on recovery! They got him a dog lift so physical therapy can begin, and hopefully next week we can start working toward getting this boy upright and out of being laterally recumbent.
Of course, Hero has also decided his kennel needs redecorating. He kept wedging himself into the corner overnight, so a tech made a Target run for extra-fluffy comforters and body pillows.
Luxury accommodations only for this boy. 😂
And this photo might be my favorite, a post surgery nap.
Dr. Lauren is doing everything she can to keep Hero comfortable, cozy and happy while her husband, Dr. Daniel, handles all of the surgical work. These two have poured so much into this dog, and I’m just incredibly grateful someone said YES to him when he needed it most.
Thank you to everyone who has continued following Hero’s story, sharing his updates, sending encouragement, and helping with his wishlist supplies and donations. ❤️
Seriously, thank you for rooting for this boy.
Now let’s get Hero healed, spoiled and WALKING. 🐾❤️‍🩹here

housing Bad Experience with move-in promotions at The Isaac Apartments in Frisco?

Hi everyone,

Reaching out to see if any current or former residents at The Isaac Apartments (managed by Maxus Properties in Frisco Square) have experienced similar issues with promotional concessions or written agreements.

During my application/touring process, the property/leasing-agent advertised a concession of "6 weeks free." My official written Welcome Letter provided by management explicitly listed "6 weeks free" for my specific application and unit. IK on their website, they say up to "6 weeks" at the top, but it feels abnormal that since individual listing had 6 weeks (and some lacked this flag), they didn't gift the 6 weeks. Now they are saying that the promotion itself is called "6 weeks", but the actual details of it is "up to 6 weeks".

I complained, and now they are saying that it was verbally communicated to me that the condition was the it was only 6 weeks if you apply within 48 hours and 4 weeks if you apply within 1 week of tour.

Did anyone have similar experiences? 2 weeks of rent isn't a small amount of money to me... and it feels super unjust. Heard from a similar applicant that even when he applied the same day, he only got 4 weeks, so I doubt they are even keeping completely track of who tours.
