Work Trip Recommendations

I am traveling to Fort Smith for work in October (20th -21st) and then staying by myself from the 22nd to the 25th. I haven’t decided if I am staying in the area or headed to Oklahoma. Any recommendations for when I am in the area? Looking for food, Attractions, shopping, etc. I’m 27 fyi. Thanks in advance!

You’re near the Buffalo River National Forest during peak fall

Fort Smith is a good base camp for trips to NWA and Tulsa. We also have a pretty good restaurant scene for a city our size thanks to immigration. But, really, it just depends on how you like to spend your free time. Outdoors? Sports bars? Casino?

A few boutiques and stores. Not a heavy mall presence. Def hit up the marshals museum.
Amigos for fun night life. 21 west end , blupoint and stonehouse for fine dining. Hideaway for pizza. Asian cafe for asian. Saga for sushi.
Mt magazine is less than an hour away and its the tallest mtn between the rockies and appalachians.

1 hour north is northwest arkansas and has all the best shopping and attractions

Depends if you want a small town easy night, or more well established night out. Ie hang with locals or stuff like top golf D&B etc. Tulsa for the latter but you can find what you’re looking for wherever you go if you try hard enough.

906 cigar lounge is the coolest spot downtown. R&R curry is good for Indian food. Paizis for Greek. The Walton art center is really cool but it’s in nwa. IMO nwa can be a whole weekend trip in itself

Good to know. I’ll look further into the NWA area

Highly recommend the trip up to the Walton arts center. It also should be peak fall so the drive will be pretty as well. (If you haven’t looked it up, the museum is free, except for a couple of special exhibits. Plus it has walking trails around it!)

If in fort smith, don't stay anywhere on towson. Also don't leave valuables in the car. Also don't give money to the fake homeless people begging on the street corners.

Enjoy your stay. Papas pizza downtown has great pizza.
