I normally wouldn't post something like this on Reddit, but I'm trying to get some help for a situation that's pretty close to me.
My family runs Hope Transportation in San Antonio, and for years we've helped transport cancer patients to chemotherapy, surgeries, doctor's appointments, and other cancer-related needs.
I was recently back in San Antonio helping with the transportation myself, and it really opened my eyes to how dependent some of these patients are on these rides. These aren't just people looking for a convenient ride — for some of them, this is how they get to chemotherapy.
Right now, the nonprofit funding that has been helping pay for these rides has been temporarily paused. We normally help around 10–15 clients a day, and there's now a lot of uncertainty about how some of them are going to get to their appointments.
My mom runs Hope Transportation and doesn't want to just tell these patients, "Sorry, we can't take you anymore." She wants to keep helping for as long as we possibly can, but gas, insurance, vehicle expenses, and the other costs of providing the transportation add up quickly.
We started a GoFundMe to try to bridge the gap until the funding hopefully resumes.
I'm not expecting anyone to give a lot. If you're able to throw in $5 or $10, it helps us put gas in the vehicles and keep providing rides. If you can't donate, even an upvote or sharing the fundraiser with someone who might be able to help would mean a lot.
I know people are understandably skeptical of fundraisers online, so I'm also happy to answer reasonable questions about what we do and what the donations are being used for.
Here's the fundraiser for anyone who would like to help:
Thank you, especially to anyone who took the time to read this.

I'm a father of a 14-year-old nonspeaking boy with profound autism who requires a tremendous amount of care.
A couple of weeks ago, my son seriously hurt himself and ended up in the hospital. I had to miss work to be with him, and that unexpected loss of income has left me about $1,000 short on our rent.
I hate asking strangers for help, but I'm trying to keep our home — the one place where my son feels safe. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any help.is truly appreciated.

Hi 🙏
I’m reaching out with a humble request for support for my mother, who is battling a severe brain stroke and is currently on a Life Support at Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh.
We have already spent around ₹20 lakh, but she urgently needs continued treatment. ❤️
If possible, please consider sharing or supporting her fundraiser. Even one share can help reach someone who may be able to help.

Thank you so much for your kindness and support. 🙏❤️

Hi everyone! I’m taking on the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon, and I’m equal parts excited and terrified to say I’ll be running all 26.2 miles. 😅
As part of my entry, I’m fundraising for Team for Kids, NYRR’s youth program that helps bring free running and fitness programs to kids in communities across the country.
Running has become a really meaningful challenge for me personally. There’s something about choosing a goal that feels slightly ridiculous, putting in the work one run at a time, and slowly realizing your body is capable of more than you thought. Getting to do that while raising money to help more kids have positive experiences with running makes the whole thing feel even more worthwhile.
I’m working toward my fundraising goal now, so I wanted to share my page here in case anyone feels inclined to support. Even a few dollars genuinely helps, and I’d be incredibly grateful.

And no pressure whatsoever if donating isn’t possible, encouragement, marathon advice, NYC race-day tips, and recommendations for surviving increasingly long training runs are also very welcome. 😂
Thank you, and hopefully I’ll see some of you out there in November! 🗽🏃♀️
