They probably had assigned values from 0 to whatever for the steering-wheel position and when no signal is coming, it defaulted to 0, which meant a hard left :D.

There should be a kill switch to safely slow down and stop with blinkers turning on off the connection is lost. Whatever variable values control the turning of the wheel need to be deliberately set, default values should be to proceed in the same direction

Seeing as steering wheel is on the right side, I was assuming it was attempting to blindly pull off on to the shoulder, which in theory is on the left, and failed dramatically.

Everyone saying AI but the news article and translated text is saying that the car is being controlled remotely by a remote operator. Implying literally that it is just another human driving the car remotely
As opposed to an AI driverless car which doesn't need internet to drive and can follow the road without internet

Also if that is the case why the hell is the technology being praised. No car should EVER be driven remotely over the internet be it a human or AI remote operator
That's a horrible idea as literally just like what happened in this video as soon as the internet goes out the car is going to crash

Real driverless cars have all the technology onboard on the car. Meaning it drives without the internet all the computing is done within a computer built into the car

Only benefit I see here is to millionaires as it means they can now take the profits away from the taxi drivers, pay them a lot less money than taxi drivers earn today and have them drive longer hours as they can have multiple remote controlled cars and have one operator switching between them after dropping off one customer they can park their remote taxi and then immediately get a customer in a different location where they have other remote taxis ready
So yeah great idea if you want to make taxis less safe and give more money to the rich and less money to the working class

I mean it's not that hard to have nominal system that just stops the car safely (even on the side of the road) if connection flakes out. Similar to "driver asleep" systems that's been around for 10+ years.
So it's quite underwhelming that it crashes into a police car on flaky connection :D

The steering wheel make two full rotations to the left and then a half a rotation to the right then makes another two full rotations to the left again. Yet, the vehicle is barely maneuvering from all the wheel turning. It’s a car not a pirate ship 😂😂😂

Self driving cars actually have the capabilities to be driven over the internet baked in. It's there so remote operators can "rescue" cars that get stuck in weird situations.

Having humans remotely pilot a car is the dumbest thing I’ve seen in a while. First, humans are already shitty drivers and computers do a statistically better job. But on top of that, you have to deal with connectivity issues!!! (Like in this clip) so it’s just straight up worse than driving it normally.

Yeah but at the beginning the steering wheel turns like 360 degrees and the car barely turns, the movements of the steering wheel just dont line up with the tire movements, it doesnt make sense
