Hiii, my little brother sent me these pics asking for help on how to prevent this. i see a similar post from about a month ago in here, but this seems to be a different problem maybe. none of the slats are broken, they just have a tendency to slip if he’s tossing & turning. i tried posting in the ikea subreddit but i don’t use reddit to my advantage enough so it wouldn’t let me :| any help or advice is appreciated!!

It is my understanding that late twentieth century, reproduction furniture was mass produced using artisan craftsmen and new modern machinery to piece the dresser together. The Honduran mahogany is obviously veneer. The sides of the drawers and the bottoms were made of different wood as well as different joins, depending on what's was on hand. I'm paraphrasing, but prove me wrong when you look at these joints. This dresser is strictly for me. For my aesthetics. I just challenged the belief of that cat who said this dresser wasn't a hundred and twenty five years old. I'm sure y'all right & lil ol me knows nothing except I was given a gorgeous statement piece once I finish stripping & shellacing. I was just fascinated, studying the history of late victorian furniture. Was never a forte of mine nor is it now. But I know true beauty when I see it as well as quality craftsmanship. Name that joint💯✌️

Should I use a basic wood glue, an epoxy or something else to glue this back on? Thanks

Either a niece or a nephew of mine spilled body wash on it, and nobody knew anywhere from 1 - 3 days.

It was made by my great-grandfather and passed to my grandfather and mother, then to me.

It means the world to my father, and so he's absolutely heartbroken.

The white part looks like the stuff to remove with heat, but I'm not sure. The rough, dark patches are what I'm worried about. It feels like the finish is gone, but I can't be sure if it damaged the wood or not?

The rest of the table is smooth as butter and always has been. Can I get the original color and feel back?

If the wood is damaged, how can it be repaired to the smooth and colorful appearance like the rest of it? If the wood isn't damaged, what do I need to do?

Any advice will help. Please. 🙏

My Dad made this toybox for my sister in the early 80s, and I'd like to start using it for my daughter. However, it's very good at pinching little fingers. It sure got me a lot when I was little.

Adding a soft close bracket or hinge should solve our pinchy problems. However, I can't seem to find the right bracket, and I feel like I am missing something. Most of the soft close brackets I see on (giant retail site) won't work because the top edge is thicker than the side wall, and so they can't attach to the top panel. Other's I don't think will work because the hinge/pivot is on the outside of the back of the box.

Am I missing something? Any suggestions?

Purchased the pictured hutch from Facebook marketplace. Item likely came from Wayfair, so obviously not the greatest material. Unfortunately while loading it into the truck the top peace cracked from the bottom cabinet, resulting in a blowout/split. I feel like this should be a relatively easy, albeit annoying fix, so I’m not chucking it. Ive never fixed something like this before, but I’ve watched some YouTube videos, so I’m thinking we’ll have to unscrew the stabilizing bolts from the bottom piece, and wood glue/fill the blowouts from the underside of the top piece. Am I on the right track here, or is there something I haven’t thought of?

I’m not a woodworker or carpenter, limited handy experience. Bought these chairs secondhand, and use over a year has caused all the joints to come loose.

I have tried using a generous amount of wood glue and using a mallet to knock everything back into place, which worked for a few days but then with use again the joints of the chair (particularly connecting the seat to the back of the chair) have all come out. I did make sure the glue cured, so it’s not that.

Any ideas for alternative more sturdy fixes? I’m wondering about using screws to secure the joints but it seems a shame to damage the wood.

Trying to figure out what’s the best way to remove the haze

A small thin piece of metal that holds glass in on this cabinet door. I have no idea what the part is callled or where to begin looking for it.

I bought this used couch from salvation army. It's a power couch but the top part of the headrests do not change with the power buttons. They are a click style and then release like old school lawn chairs. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get this one headrest to release and lay down and I don't really want to cut the back of it to figure it out manually.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have these drawer pulls that have some sort of gold applied to them that has worn in places due to wear from touching them so often.

Is there a special product I can apply to this to fill in the wear? Honestly wasnt even sure what to search for so I came here. Thanks for any insight or pointing me in the right direction!

Can this vanity leg be repaired?

I bought some pine nightstands that were made to order, so brand new when I got them. Since the varnish was still very smelly when they were delivered, I set them in my covered carport to air out. They've been out there about a month in moderate to warm summer temperatures. We've had dry weather pretty much the whole time. After a couple of weeks I noticed this, which appears to be sap that has seeped out of the wood. It was sticky, but is now fairly hard after two more weeks.

What would be the best way to remove this without damaging the varnish? Google AI is telling me all kinds of things and I don't trust it. Thanks!

I bought a couch that came with hardware to attach the back to the frame, but 4 of the mounting holes appears to be completely unthreaded. The screw/bolt just spins endlessly and never tightens.
I contacted the seller, but they’re taking a long time to send a replacement part, so I’d rather just buy the correct hardware myself and fix it.

The first picture shows the mounting bracket and the bolt. The second picture shows the hole in the couch. As you can see, there doesn’t appear to be any threaded insert or nut inside—the interior is basically just wood.

The bolt appears to be approximately 2 inches long. Based on the appearance/measurements, I was wondering if this is an M8 × 1.25 bolt, and whether I should use an M8 threaded wood insert to repair the hole.

My questions are:
Can someone identify the exact size/thread of this bolt from the pictures?
What type of threaded insert should I buy for this type of couch frame?
What length insert should I use (13mm, 20mm, etc.)?
Is a threaded insert even the best way to repair this, considering this is a structural connection on a couch?

I don’t want to buy the wrong size and make the hole even larger, so I’d really appreciate some guidance on exactly what hardware I should be looking for. If there’s a specific product available at Home Depot, Lowe’s, Amazon, etc., that would be even better.
