Gacha industry EOS

113

u/FoRiZon3 Arknights Sep 01 '25

Except for FGO it seems.

u/be0ulve Sep 01 '25

Gachaslop is temporal.

The Grand Order is eternal.

FGO may sleep, but it wakes up three times a year: New Year's, anniversary, and summer!

4

u/HaoHaiYou_ Sep 01 '25

FGO kinda is gacha slop

25

u/PositiveDefiant69 Sep 02 '25

Yeah but what gacha isn't? Saying gacha slop is like saying stinky poop, what poop isn't stinky?

10

u/ENT38 Sep 01 '25

I been playing FGO for 7 years and the amount of roller coaster up and downs is literally too much

11

u/Animewaifylord Sep 02 '25

FGO has the best story in all gacha, it's still Slop but a good story and lore continuation like Fate, Arknights, Honkai will hold players for much longer than Gooner slop like ZZZ and Nikke

3

u/mlodydziad420 Sep 02 '25

I realy wonder how it holds up to Limbus which is in my opinion the best Gacha in terms of story. Kinda tempted to try FGO, but its ancient mechanics are scary.

8

u/Animewaifylord Sep 03 '25 edited Sep 03 '25

Oh I definitely prefer the mechanics of Limbus company by far but there's no doubt that Fate's story or stories are better, Nasu has cooked beautifully on that

4

u/Animewaifylord Sep 03 '25

My favourite combination would be Limbus Company gameplay and mechanics with Fate story and side stories

2

u/Wait-And-Hope- Wait and hope for QOL Sep 05 '25

You can just read the story on YouTube if you're interested, although you probably wouldn't be as immersed because you'd be missing out on a lot of gameplay to story integration. But I will say that while the gacha is scary the main story can be completed without touching the premium currency gacha even once in a relatively short amount of time, that has been proven by several speed runners.

Imo while Limbus is more consistent it still hasn't reached the same peak as FGO, so it depends on whether that turns you off or not. I wouldn't call one better than the other since both have their own unique strength

Keep Coping

17

u/elmartiniloco Sep 02 '25

Don't need to, 10 years in and FGO is still runing strong, it's literally the gramps that can tell you all used to be forest in it's youth lol.

22

u/EtadanikM Sep 01 '25

Gacha industry returning to its Japanese roots. Nature is healing.

14

u/thor_dash Sep 01 '25

August always FGO highest month due to anniversary. Remember they have 120 banners at the same time or something

3

u/veldril Sep 02 '25

120 banners at the same time but for many of those you have to choose and roll in only 1 banner for a guaranteed SSR. After you chose and roll on one of the GSSR banners, all other GSSR banners disappear.

15

u/Aschentei Sep 01 '25

How the hell does FGO do it after all these years

44

u/DOOMFOOL Sep 01 '25

FATE and Type/Moon has cultivated the kind of rabidly loyal fanbase most companies would kill to have. Without the flashy shit a lot of other gachas have FGO has to rely on its character and story writing to maintain that fanbase so you get some really well written stories from Nasu.

24

u/Hp22h Sep 01 '25

Nasu has been cultivating his brand / fanbase since 2000, the literal turn of the millennium.

13

u/Minhaz250 Sep 01 '25

Cultivated fanbase and everything Nasuverse related goes straight to it. Fate/Stay Night is one of the most popular anime ever, you see the animation the anime has? That ain’t cheap.

Also it’s probably more globally popular. I assume it’s very big in Japan since you’ll see more Japan exclusive stuff there, and with all the characters I feel like China buys into it too. I think it might be a tiny bit easier on resources needed too? Genshin is open world they have to put in a whole map and 3D models. Fgo is 2D and idk how much storage it needs now tbh, but it seems to be 2D with a png face visual novel system which surely can’t take up that much space, save for voicelines.

Personally I hated its gacha, I get spoiled by Limbus’s gacha system now which is why.

10

u/PositiveDefiant69 Sep 02 '25

which surely can’t take up that much space

4

u/Minhaz250 Sep 02 '25

ok I stand corrected but in my defense Genshin is like 2.5x that

Gacha games are rough, Limbus, my beloved, is poorly optimized so maybe that’s a shared thing among gachas.

1

u/mlodydziad420 Sep 02 '25

Its most likely because Gachas have a lot of dialoque, audio files take a lot of space.

3

u/Animewaifylord Sep 02 '25

Space is not as big a factor as performance, it can run on anything and doesn't hog resources and battery and starts quickly, genshin takes like 5 minutes to load and bonus points of its portrait so you can play with one hand

Good writing

-1

Then HRB should be in the top five as well

10

u/Kisuke525 Sep 01 '25

It has a few things that hurt its popularity if not for those it probably would be doing better

-1

u/A12qwas World's biggest Heaven Burns Red glazer Sep 01 '25

The two games have similar strength. Great story and characters, popular VN author is writing the story

9

u/SilenceSuzukaLOVERS Sep 02 '25

Similar strenght? I thought HRB lacking in man strenght.

0

u/A12qwas World's biggest Heaven Burns Red glazer Sep 02 '25

Husbando fans are replaced with yuri fans

8

u/SilenceSuzukaLOVERS Sep 02 '25

That's maybe why HRB can't become more successful as FGO, or maybe the dev shooting themselves on the feet by releasing new kind of rarity unit and changing game system

2

u/A12qwas World's biggest Heaven Burns Red glazer Sep 02 '25

SS and SSR units have the same pull rank, and I think FGO units make money because of the writing in their story, not because of their sex.

u/mlodydziad420 Sep 02 '25

Thing is, Husbando fans have overlap with variety fans, many male players like to play as a badass guys or girls playing as cute girls, few think with only their crotches.

2

u/A12qwas World's biggest Heaven Burns Red glazer Sep 02 '25

And in HRB's case, the fandom isn't horny, they just think the girls have good chemistry

While Jun Maeda can still be considered popular there are A LOT of people in Japan that will not touch anything he writes anymore. There is a reason the guy has deleted his twitter account multiple times.

1

u/A12qwas World's biggest Heaven Burns Red glazer Sep 02 '25

What happened to the guy?

9

u/Kisuke525 Sep 02 '25

A lot of people really hate some of his more recent writing and he doesn't handle that well so he deleted his account a few times because it became to much for him. He even swore to never write for an anime again.

3

u/A12qwas World's biggest Heaven Burns Red glazer Sep 02 '25

Really? I love the story in HRB

4

u/Animewaifylord Sep 02 '25

It would be but you see HBR has no budget for marketing and Yostar is stretching itself thin on multiple projects. If Maeda keeps cooking like Nasu then it'll be slowly grow huge

1

u/arifuni Sep 03 '25

HRB has good story but its new, its lack alot of loyal fanbase, IP like fate is multimedis that already cultivated for decades

1

u/A12qwas World's biggest Heaven Burns Red glazer Sep 03 '25

It's three years old now, so not exactly new, and the IP itself might be new, but the author clearly isn't. And it dues have loyal fans, just not as much as fate. My original point was that writing and characters along don't make a game successful

18

u/CL_Doviculus Sep 01 '25

Stockholm syndrome.

12

u/Animewaifylord Sep 02 '25

"I don't like it so no one else will like it either" ahh take

1

u/goronado Sep 01 '25

imagine how much crazier it would be if they had a more intuitive combat system, fairer pity system, and an auto and quick clear button

5

u/SilenceSuzukaLOVERS Sep 02 '25

Its not gonna stand out so much like a sore thump anymore man

6

u/andykhang Sep 02 '25

I agreed with the latter two, but the combat system is quite easy to understand for me, and you should know pretty much everything about it after clearing Part 1 anyway.

1

u/5ngela Sep 03 '25

Until old players unable to play again. Doubt they get new players with outdated UI and art.
