It's more impressive when you know most of its players don't even play on mobile. But based by every projections, WuWa is keep growing month by month and that's impressive for a gacha, since most are expected to peak on released or some special events/reboots/anniversary.
Hey if they keep up the quality story and not forget her make sure she is acknowledged to exist to the current issue in the background for the next few patches they have a great story on their hands
Wuwa's 1st anni was a terrible "story" though. that's kind of their problem, the best of their storytelling always happens in some random fuck-off patch (2.2, 2.5, and now 3.1) and not the "main" patches where they sort of drop the ball. ig you could say 2.0 was good, but i don't think it really compares to the best of what came after it.
man it must be so fucking easy making money in gachas. Any other game these would be entirely forgettable cosmetics pumped in dozens each patch. Here, it's a rarity of the highest FOMO caliber, and it only requires a couple of days for an experienced 3d artist to make.
I was actually ready to go all in with the spending event because I love Aemeath and Luuk, but then I saw 90% of the rewards and was like...ok, nah I'm good lol.
One of. But there are meta teams that don't need her at all. Plus Morney can replace her 9 times out of 10. So considering how much you need to spend to get here in this event she's not worth it. Who's coping tho.
Yes since the bar for a predatory spending event is hsr, where spending will get you the exact same rewarda as wuwa, good but old support character and some skins. It’s still cope because the rewards are good but you have to spend a lot to get them, doesn’t change it into a bad reward. You are still coping about that and trying to downplay it lmao
Mornye only replaces SK in non-tune strain/tune rupture teams if you have her S1. Otherwise an S0 Shorekeeper is much better. The only non-tune team Mornye would really work in without S1 is Galbrena mono-fusion.
youre forgetting just how many teams there are that dont use shorekeeper as BiS at all.
lupa kicked her out of mono fusion, zani wants spectro rover, ciaconna kicked her out of aero teams, phrolova has cantarella, even galbrena can swap to mono fusion without much loss, and now mornye is the default in all current and future tune teams.
it really is just carlotta (perhaps s6 buling is even stronger there, i havent checked), augusta, hypercarry iuno (this is cheating lol) and galbrena+qiuyuan that have her as BiS.
Shorekeeper isn't designed to be anyone's bis, she's designed to be a universal support and she is objectively the best universal support at S0. An S0 Shorekeeper will always be more useful than an S0 Mornye outside of tune strain/rupture teams.
Mornye is basically going to be the Shorekeeper of 3.x tune strain/rupture teams.
well yes, so is verina and she barely sees play anymore. im just saying she has been on her way out for a while now, getting pushed out of team after team.
Verina is barely used because the only supports she outperforms are the 4* ones. Shorekeeper will always be a valuable character because she can work in literally any team if you lack the bis character.
Hypercarry Iuno doesn't even have SK as BiS. Mornye is her best third because Lynae is her best second slot.
SK is simply a very good generalist who is typically the second or third best option. That's really valuable in a game where you need 4 teams for Matrix, but it's not 1.3 anymore. Like you said, there's plenty of stronger, but more niche alternatives now.
true, I'd forgotten about lynae even though that's one of the teams I play lol. she pretty much pushed out SK from all liberation teams too by bringing in Mornye, and every future tune support capable of doing that will do the same thing in the future.
Sure there are teams that don’t need her but pretending like she isn’t the 2nd or 3rd BIS for basically every team is crazy work. She’s in every F2P team, in every copium team, the only team I can think that she really isn’t that wanted on is Carte only because she gives ATK buffs but even then she’s a great option for her other buffs.
You're not spending solely for Shorekeeper though. You're spending on the new bundles and deals they have made for this patch specifically to get you the currency you use to get to the next reward on the spending event list, and then being closer to the rewards, will tempt you to spend more as you get closer, until it is worth it to spend the extra dime to get Shorekeeper.
And let's not pretend that just because she's not bis on most teams (anymore), means that she is any means not the top 2 best support in the game.
I liked the bike skin and decided to buy the $50 pack to get it. The skin itself isn't worth $50, but the premium currency on top of it is good enough for me.
Yeah I can't believe they'd do that, but then again hoyo did create the universe so it's hard for anybody to make something that wont be a direct copy of hoyo.
They are probably going to do another one in 3.3 for the anniversary, they already had a pseudo spending event in 2.3 (rolling in the banner got you some rolls back). They are probably going to add a few new "cosmetics" to the bike (which simply are the existing character art pasted in the side of the bike), and some recolors (like the cosmetic crown which is simply a recolor). Best part is, kuro is going to ditch the bike next expansion, and the cosmetic crown doesn't even show on cutscenes.
I think kuro also forgot that they introduced cosmetic weapons in 1.4, I guess because you don't even see weapons on characters except for a single move.
even CN is dissing mobile performance for wuwa. They could still get this amount of revenue for mobile is kinda admirable. We would never know how PC/PS5 revenue performed for wuwa. If they somehow optimize for mobile better then one day wuwa could be great on the platform just saying
the last quest was really good, one of the few times i watched several reactions after playing it, and like 3 of those streams including gigguk on pc were very laggy at times, they need to sort it out in general. its fine for me but that cos i got a really good gpu and cpu for my modelling work, most won't have that.
i don't think it's solvable in 1 patch either but they need to create a team, which will take at least a month, and that team can slowly update the game.
I watched like 15+ reaction and played it myself, only on Gigguk I saw those performance issues, because he prob don't have a good PC and he was also streaming on Twitch & Youtube from the same PC.
But yeah usually if theres some bugs and performance issues, they are fixed in first 2 days, so I usually always wait like 2 days before I go do the story or new stuff.
Thats what happens when you release the strongest character in the game, with the best combat visuals in the game along with arguably their best told story for that said character.
All the pieces fell into place. It's going to be extremely hard to top for wuwa in the future.
The only thing that might compete is the extreme FOMO of the collab characters.
Assuming constant player population, you can only squeeze people so many ways.
I don't think it's going to be possible to top 3.1 without increasing the number of players you're squeezing.
So the focus would have to be making the game more accessible (e.g. optimization) and target a larger audience. This latter goal is difficult because of what the game is, fundamentally (twitch combat game releasing 90%+ female characters). You can't suddenly get a bunch of women and casual gamers to play your game so the only thing you can do is double down on grabbing more male gamers, preferably from populations who wouldn't have played WuWa before.
I think that might be the current strategy for Kuro, actually.
A recent argument in CN is that Kuro intends to move directly into the AAA space instead of staying in the gacha space, and both of their "secret" projects (Project Nami, a MMO lite, and Project Sun, a multi-player PvP) are designed for the AAA industry rather than the gacha industry. WuWa is trending in the same direction IMO.
I’m kinda sick of this slander. Storage issues? Sure 100%. But wuwa works fine on my old phone and sure, it doesn’t look anywhere near as good as PC, but it works. (Disclaimer: it’s not that old but I use hand me downs phones from my dad so it’s definitely not cutting edge top of the line or anything)
Meanwhile, a game everyone and their mothers as been shilling as the best optimized game ever to hit the market in gacha history, Endfield turns my phone into fuckin Doc Ock with his miniature sun by the time it takes for me to complete the dailies in that game. Does it look good? Sure, but I’d prefer to be able to touch my phone without suffering burns after playing it.
the mobile performance is surprisingly okay for Wuwa in my experience, but the PC performance is abysmal in some areas. my laptop can run pretty much every area that isn't Septimont completely smooth but becomes a 20-30fps slideshow near the academy. like, what the fuck is that? i don't get what's with those 2 areas that just crash the performance massively.
I’m talking from experience. I literally mentioned how bad the performance on mobile was and multiple people in the sub was telling me how I’m just wrong.
why do you make shit up? literally every single month on that sub, posts that are criticisms are some of the top posts lol and the majority of the reddit community there on the wuwa sub welcome it and agree with it
I’m talking specifically about mobile performance and from my own experience.
I questioned why WuWa was nominated for a mobile reward when the mobile performance is so terrible, and had multiple people telling me I was wrong and that the game is fine on mobile.
And like I said, this was just one case. I’ve experienced this multiple times. Obviously “everyone” is a hyperbole, but I’m not just making stuff up. It could’ve been unfortunate chances, but I’ve seen lots of toxic positivity from that sub. Though that’s not to say criticism doesn’t exist there, of course.
im not saying you made up your personal anecdotes lol, im clearly talking about your original statement
besides, its not just hyperbole when you says something like "in the WuWa sub everyone says mobile is perfectly fine with zero issues", it's also clearly just false, literally there is a post every single day about mobile and optimization with as many upvotes as top posts get and supporting comments. Can you see how it may come off? one case, or a couple cases of single commenters and your own comment downvoted by at best a dozen people, is WAY less indicative of how a whole sub feels, than looking at the actual posts filtered by top and monthly and its supporting comments, all upvoted by hundreds/thousands of people, wouldnt you agree
It’s not bullshit, I’m talking from experience. I complained that WuWa’s mobile performance is terrible and questioned why it’s rewarded for mobile when it runs terribly, and everyone told me I was wrong and that it’s actually good.
I'm also speaking from experience. I've complained about performance and storage optimization dozens of times on posts about it and everyone has always agreed it's a huge problem.
This was just one of the few times this happened in the WuWa sub. The performance has only been getting worse with every update. But I’m the one “pulling shit out my ass.”
as much as people hate to admit it, even dating sims are generally only popular when they actually have some substance. there's a reason ZZZ tries to bait people with tragedy behind every character story, though even that isn't really working too well for them.
it's not enough to just meet someone and just instantly connect. stories like Aemeath, Cartethya and Phrolova are what they should keep chasing for, not.....pretty much everyone else, quite frankly. it becomes boring and formulaic eventually when they take away the wrong points like they did in 2.6.
Yeah, kuro probably got the wrong idea because of how well people love charthetiya story.
If done right like persona or kiseki game, even harem will be no issue.
People don't exactly hate dating sim, but hate and annoyed at bad dating sim.
2.6 and 3.1 probably the worst patch story ever, even 1.0 feel better.
Its competitive and the characters are super versatile, so they can work with alot of other teams. It helps as well that alot of players connected and resonated with both character's stories.
People like Luuk but didn't really pull for him, there's even some CN statistics that shows that males are at the bottom of the list of characters owned thus why we get them once in a full moon. So is mostly Aemeath + story that makes people wanting to get her even if they wanted to skip her before.
Aemeath is currently the strongest character in the game, and sort of a sentinel resonator since the Exostrider carries sentinels plus the story was good enough to sell her as a character as well.
Indeed. I have both her and her sig weapon. Although, I still don't see how this situation is that much different from Cartethyia when she released (strongest in the game at that point; pretty much a Sentinel resonator; excellent story), but we're talking a $27 million jump in sales over the previous month (according to the estimates posted here) and supposedly their biggest revenue month ever with this patch. Don't misunderstand - I'm pleased the game is doing well, I'm just surprised the numbers are as high as they are. I guess I'm just not feeling the whole Lahai-roi experience that much (or at least as much as other people seem to, given the revenue).
Aemeath's story was just miles better than any other story in wuwa & she had players emotionally invested in her character even more than cartethiya obviously. It had the most activity I've seen about wuwa's story on social media since release.
I also want to say the spending event but it was dogshit & everyone seems to think so. I didn't see any positive press about that so it's hard to think it's what caused the massive revenue so I'm going with people liking aemeath. It was also the first time I spent money on this game since day 1 release.
Same bruh. The only stories that were somewhat decent imo was 2.0 & 1.3 but this one was something else. I can't say you'll like it for sure, I was skeptical going into it but I was impressed. It's as if they finally gained enlightenment to all the problems previous wuwa stories had & fixed it.
All I can say to sell you on the story without spoiling it is that aemeath is a complex character & the story wasn't the generic find problem, enter Sonoro sphere, default backstory & beat bad guy that wuwa has. Everytime it looked like it was concluding, they threw in a curveball that added to aemeath's depth & rover was finally given some meaningful depth & backstory. It also shifted from the gathering wives format
Ah, I see. I really only pay attention to game announcements on social media, so I didn't see any of the reaction from the player base.
And, yeah, that spending event was a joke, as are most events like that. They just feel like a cheap, manipulative cash grab and usually reduce my positive feelings toward a game. HSR is a huge offender in that department, and I actually ended up dropping it a couple of months ago due to behavior like that.
I think that's definitely happened. My surprise with last month's revenue probably comes from seeing it hang out between $15-23 million on these reports for the past six months or so. To see it more than double its usual recent revenue was kind of like "huh... what... how did that happen?"
Every post talking about her from China seems to indicate waifu and even some Kuro videos. I’m not in that boat personally, but I think the people that matter (CN/JP) are on her being a waifu.
Because she can be interpreted as family and waifu. Genshin has also been around longer so yeah nostalgia bait works.
Edit: Also Varka isn't really nostalgia bait. Unless you're referring to his origin being from Monstadt. But then you could argue it for every new character from a previous region. He was character that was hyped since release. Even better since players didn't know what he looked like. Its kind of like Scar in WuWa or someone like W from Arknigths who did come out. I guess another example would be Diamond from HSR who hasn't shown up or spoken, but people assume will be playable.
I'm pretty sure Varka is nostalgia-bait in some way or form.
I don't really play Genshin anymore, but I watched his Character Trailer and cutscenes involving him and the Monstadt characters far too many times that can I count. I loved seeing Monstadt characters do their own thing while solidifying their dynamics between each other.

is this like the highest Wuwa made?
