Small drama afternoon: people are just now discovering that NTE's dating system only allows you to date women (making it probably the first Chinese yuri gacha)

It's been known in China for a while, since the last beta (in February), but just today a video by iYatoOfficial is getting viral on Twitter and lots of posts gathering over 100k likes in total have brought it to the general public's attention that in NTE you can't date men, but you can date women as female MC.

It's actually a bit of a flirty friendship, but very clearly intended to be seen as dating since the interactions are a bit too intimate. You can set up to 5 girls to date.

While it flew over my head in February (even thought I often browse xhs and bilibili) due to its neutral reception, the negative reception today is really hard to ignore bc it's everywhere if you follow any gacha fanpage, with several reposts and retweets bashing it (and a couple praising it as well).

This is making some people a bit bitter, specially because the info comes to the public attention a week after Mongil's announcement that they won't release more male characters after releasing the game with a small amount of them (https://www.reddit.com/r/gachagaming/s/Fkub1W2Yyh).

Well, at least they aren't baiting their players into playing a game that only caters to male players (and bi/lesbian women, even if by accident and it ends up being patched in the future).

Given the amount of times I have seen people insist that the male and female player in girls frontline have different dynamics with the cast (ie husband vs mom) I'm skeptical that even this is broadly accepted

That's not really a new thing, it's more like a return to norm. As much of a norm as a gacha player could have anyways. In a huge part of the normie real life layer there is (and probably always will be) a very big discrepancy in the amount of normalization sexualizing lesbians gets vs gays

Which is what I hate. Like I don't give a shit about most MC ships. I might have one or two MC focused ships (like Alliah x Djeeta in Granblue or the Doctor in AK have Theresa on one side and the Priestess on the other) but for all other characters I just want to ship them with other characters. Which most of the time ends up being yuri since that's what happens when the cast 70%+ women.

Meanwhile Umamusume is just all Uma x Uma. The trainers feels like teachers so it feels icky to do Uma x Trainer. And nearly all Umas have such amazing interactions with other Umas that builds interesting stories that actually feels dynamic.

And when there are males, it ended up become yaoi ship fest only. If I tried to ship it hetero way, someone will stone me.

There is plenty of hetero ships in both Granblue and Arknights though.

Like Vaseraga & Almeida, Kou & You, Romeo & Juliet, Tabina & whatever his name was, Stan & Aliza, all MC sexuals if you play Gran instead of Djeeta and so on. But of course if you try to ship two characters that got clear other pairings in the story you will get backlash for that in general and that isn't really related to hetero or homosexual but people generally don't like ships that isn't supported in some way in the story.

I don't see any hate for sigrika e denia ship, or luuk and lucilla interaction haha , is fun because the only yuri image who create drama because same one fake to be kuro on insta and try to remove it, kuro get it back ahha
