General Popularity chart of gacha games at an anime con in China as of May 2026.

Red dots=like, black dots=dislike.

Covered up games in images 3 & 7 are Snowbreak Honor of Kings & Reverse 1999, respectively.

EDIT: Image 3 is actually Honor of Kings, not Snowbreak. “SB” over HoK’s square means 傻逼(sha bi)=stupid/idiot/dumbass/asshole. Although HoK isn’t a gacha, it’s up there with a few other mobile games that are popular in China.

Part 2 thread with Arknights, Endfield, Nikki, and other games cut off in these pics here: https://www.reddit.com/r/gachagaming/s/yvlpDV499B

So it's mocking the playerbase because they don't accept any criticism against the devs?

247

u/Typical-Opposite-989 May 02 '26

yes, for example, in HUPU a platform for rating everything from League of Legends matches or trends, wuwa 3.3 MSQ has a rating of 5.6/10, and the featured comment (most-liked comment) says:

"Unable to shoulder the burden of 3.1, Kuro chose the most mediocre way to solve the problem, hoping to cover up his incompetence in plot with a good performance. However, the problem remained unresolved, and the Tunnel Warriors arc was also a mess."

But the "filial son" doesn't accept criticism in the community; everything is perfect.

85

u/kaori_cicak990 May 03 '26

Its funny to see their reaction in EN or global:

"Its rushed but since its flashy its okay."

Lol is it just bad from story point?

54

u/ImGroot69 May 03 '26

tbf, that's just how people rate anything anime related these days. I've seen people saying Demon Slayer movie's story was mid at best, but it's fine since the visual carried it.

7

u/Gallalade May 03 '26

I mean, a movie *can* be nothing but flashy, dumb spectacle.
It can sets its own pace, and deliver only on that action. I wouldn't ever give such a movie more than a 7/10, but it'd be a fine entertainment and a good time.
James Cameron's Avatar franchise is basically that with serviceable character motivations and dynamics.

Anime, especially seasonal, can't do so as easily because those intense scene are heavy on the animation budget. So you'd like to have still interesting 'static' scenes, otherwise the audience gets bored and checks something else.

An RPG doing such, well if the reason you're giving me a skip button is that anything you do write is trite worthless garbage, then you're completely failing your job.

2

u/Glittering-Pin-1343 May 04 '26

Wuwa is literally all flash no substance and has always been this. I wouldn't be surprised if it's still that now. I think 3.1 made people have some hope cause a character died and didn't immediately get revived, but it seems she got revived in 3.3 so.... yeah.

1

u/vahneo May 04 '26

Wuwa story is mostly from "meh" to "okay-ish" tbh. Rover is just soooo Mary Sue he solve most of the problem easily. Some story is good enough (like Aemeath from 3.1) but some story is just straight up skippable (Sigrika from 3.2). Also in Sigrika story, she is supposed to be a genius who can "solve" the runes/puzzles but in story all she does is raising her hand and "okay, it solved" which is dissapointed af.

At least Wuwa story cutscene is very flashy so ppl can enjoy that. The music though, there's not many songs that is iconic or memorable for me, even those "climax" songs doesn't hit hard.

86

u/Commercial_Let2850 May 02 '26

I agree with this tbh, i feel Like Aemeath, similarly to SK in 1.3 were saved way too quickly, we needed a bigger build-up to this.

u/spooky_over_heaven May 02 '26

For me, i just dont see how people are talking about the current day combat design. I dont mean player combat, i think thats fine. But how enemies are being made really infuriates me, every patch theres always a boss that flies away from you every single fucking time and oh my fucking shit, as someone who mained zani since the day she released and only recently got HIyuki as a main dps after a YEAR of not pulling, you can really notice how character design in terms of combat is also affecting enemy design.

Like you have hiyuki zooming across stages with her heavy attack, and now with the latest boss countering (sort of) her mechanic. So I was building her and in order to do that i had to beat the new boss several times to get her 4-cost echo, and holy shit this boss has EVERYTHING to waste your time, flying around you, flying on top of you and literally GOING INVISIBLE FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS, then when she appears back she teleports away from you. Like holy shit doing all that for an echo that ill get shit stats on and ill have to rinse and repeat again and again will be the end of me.

Anyways, thanks for reading my small rant

50

u/DarthOnis May 02 '26

This is one of the main reasons I quit the game. Character kits and boss design feel like they're built for two totally different combat systems rather than interacting together and I really started to dislike the flow of combat.

46

u/Lost_Ad3471 May 02 '26

I still play wuwa and the endgame combat feels like it is a 30s rotation simulator where the best interaction with the enemy is to not interact at all.

12

u/kuburas May 02 '26

I think bosses are intentionally designed to kinda stall for time during fights because character kits were starting to lean more and more into liberation/cutscene spam during which mobs are frozen in time.

So if bosses didnt have a mechanic where they can peel away from the player they would end up frozen the whole time until eventually dying. By making them peel off they can actually get bosses to do their mechanics to some extent.

Similarly most ARPGs will give bosses forced immunity phases so their mechanics can resolve before they die. Just look at PoE 1/2 or Diablo 3/4. A lot of bosses in those games have forces phases because players are so powerful they could onetap them otherwise.

12

u/Kozmo9 May 03 '26

ZZZ also did this to an extent but they managed to avoid the stall due to their parry mechanic tied to enemy gimmicks that rewards the player blocking those gimmicks. It actually is a crucial thing to do as it rewards players with bonus points in Deadly Assault mode.

Thankfully they know how to balance it's application. Early enemies have lengthy attack gimmick that results in chain-parrying but yeilds little reward. Heck it didn't even stop their gimmick. Farbauti that charge-stomp you about eight times and the enhanced Butcher with his tornado spin. If you block this, you'd look cool chain-parrying for half a minute but in timegate modes, it's a time waster.

Thankfully, they seem to ditch the idea of "useless parry" so enemies nowadays would result in "reward", even if you have to parry a number of times. Some bosses have lengthy gimmick but it doesn't force you to block it. You could just attack while they are doing it. Some that do have lengthy animation and successful parry will result in rewards of any kind, with one of them making them "stunned" even when they aren't actually Stunned.

16

u/JumpingCicada May 03 '26

Wuwa should just give like 20 auto wins daily per content outside of the endgame (tower and whiwha).

Im a week 1 player but quit like half a year ago due to how grindy and annoying building new characters is.

Im used to games where id just have to build a couple of very good sets and I could just swap gear onto new characters without issue. But on Wuwa, it was one new echo set after another and the grind was unbearable.

-13

u/beastfire24 May 03 '26

Do you even know what grind means? I build every character in less than 2 days. What an aweful take. Ever since they added the main stat changer and nests I don't even miss the boxes from 1000 gateways.

16

u/JumpingCicada May 03 '26

Your response reminds me of the original comment in this thread

47

u/GraveXNull May 03 '26

Honestly...my biggest gripe with the combat is, how they're making characters that have fancier attacks that feel more hollow.

Like, all these new characters will straight up drown the screen in particle effect with eqct attack that at the same time will feel like a wet noodle...

Just compare newer characters with older ones like Jiyan...

Sometimes the combat feels like you're just spamming fancy cutscenes that animation lock the whole fight.

But that's just how I felt with some characters.

24

u/kunene71 May 03 '26

thats exactly like what i was thinking lmfao, last team i build aemeath/linea and mornye. i first tried hardest difficulty hologram and didnt see any boss mechanics or parry or barely dodge, i was just sitting in permanent aemeath tiktoks invulnerability frames lol

19

u/lasagnaiswhat May 03 '26

That’s exactly what PGR has become and WuWa is on the fast track haha

Hell, I think the last banner PGR had that didn’t have characters with crazy visual clutter were Dante and Vergil from the collab

3

u/vahneo May 04 '26

Basically my combat in PGR: Hold dodge - Trigger matrix - use Ulti 1 - Hold dogge - Trigger matrix again - use Ulti 2 - rinse and repeat. I can't die if the boss can't hit me during my "rotation".

1

u/DoppleDuck May 05 '26

Tbh, the cutscene spamming only really applies to aemeath... The 3 latest releases (Luuk, sigrika and Hiyuki) follow mostly in line everyone else. And it is why even though aemeath was cool at first, her gameplay gets really dry after a while

1

u/Oleleplop May 03 '26

isn't Aemeath the only one trully doing that ?

It's the reason i didnt get sequences for her lol, after the "wow effect" her combat feels flashy but no impactful other than her big ult.

13

u/pdmt243 May 03 '26

yep, farming echoes in tacet fields gets annoying real quick with how enemies zooming across the field lol

"then why don't you just farm from domains instead?" Well, you can't even access the new area if you don't catch up with the current story lmao (I haven't finished Aemeath story, so got locked out of the new region), still doing this in the big 26 is certainly a choice. Even Genshin now allows you to explore new areas first without having to do story lol

54

u/uskonpuhdistaja May 02 '26

One of my main gripes with wuwa was the combat. It would've worked better in a game where you fight bosses a more limited number of times, since having to fight countless times against the same fuckers that run away, teleport away, fly away, etc etc just plain wasting my time with annoying mechanics gets really old really fast (not like it's the only action gacha with those, but it felt like they were constantly trying to outdo themselves with frustrating enemies...)

39

u/spooky_over_heaven May 02 '26

Yeah it looks nice the first time, but when you have to do it again and again you really start to think "what were they thinking". And honestly they probably know because it wastes your time, making you play longer

9

u/Kozmo9 May 03 '26

ZZZ almost became this and especially made worse with their parry mechanic that are tied to enemy gimmicks and it can lock you in a constant parry animation that are lengthy and give nothing in return. In short it was just to make you look cool parrying it lol.

Fortunately this was only with the early enemies like the Ethereal with two giant arms that charge-stomp you for about EIGHT TIMES and the enhanced Butcher that would do a fricking long tornado spin.

And unlike other enemies where parries would break their attack, these two don't. They will keep doing their attack until it's done.

The devs seem to get the idea that this "lengthy but no reward," gimmick isn't ideal so most enemies would have shorter gimmick that rewards the parry. It is even crucial in Deadly Assault mode as it gives a lot of points.

It's telling that in DA, almost every boss that has gimmick would net you points for parrying...except the enhanced Butcher. While not told, you don't want him to execute his gimmick at all and fortunately it wasn't a forced gimmick so you can bypass it.

1

u/Oleleplop May 03 '26

i mean, right now now most bosses gimmick is about parrying at the correct timing, so i don't find that particularly interesting either now.

It still has a good core but the last bosses have just been "boss will do things, you must parry at the correct time to get it to stop thing its doing"

13

u/RigenX May 02 '26

It's understandable and i can feel your pain. I shudder even thinking of trying to take on bosses of the current era with 1.X resonators.

I guess it's good i started playing WuWa back in 2.4 and Carthethyia was the first resonator i rolled for(and well i started because of her) So it's not as bad for me. But even 2.X units feel a bit sluggish with some of those bosses.

2

u/spooky_over_heaven May 02 '26

Haha, I was there playing within the first hour of the game releasing, and if I was commited to save for 2 years and stuck with my f2p team of danjin, verina, and sanhua because I liked her. I would probably have gone insane

3

u/Kyroz May 03 '26

imo the resonators in wuwa feels great to play in a vacuum but they're designed around static rotations with outros buffing the next character for a short amount of time in which they finish their rotation, when the enemies flies around and wastes your time about it your rotation gets ruined and buffs runs out and there's pretty much nothing you can really do other than learning some giga sweaty rotation to break them before it happens ig. It's like the resonators and the enemies are designed for 2 totally different combat systems rather than working in tandem, and endgame with timers turning it into dps checks just makes this worse

4

u/xangbar Everything Hoyo (Except Tears of Themis) May 03 '26

Yeah, I hate how every recent boss (it seems) flies around. It is very annoying since its a waste of time. I'm trying to farm out bosses for echoes or do my weekly fights and its just annoying now. At least when we fought Jue he has an actual grapple point attached to him for part of the fight. Recent bosses? They fly up and are kind of just out of reach so good luck just waiting.

1

u/vahneo May 04 '26

OMG I hate all the boss that wasting your time by flying out of your reach or go invisible sooo much.

In PGR there's an "early" boss who go straight invisible and hit you hard as hell without any sign to dodge. My solution for that boss is spamming Ulti like crazy so I can i-frame during Ulti and the boss can't hit me (yes, you can spam Ulti in PGR which is stupid af). It feel so stupid lol

1

u/SHTPST_Tianquan May 02 '26

i might have some selection bias here, but for how wuthering waves started and drastically expanded upon the genshin formula combat, i see too much of the gameplay (endgame specifically, but not necessarily just that) reducing itself to quickswap gameplay (or very similar) not unlike what at this point has become the "signature" of genshin gameplay.

-29

u/ReverieMetherlence Loving botes! May 02 '26

If new weekly boss feels annoying or hard for you, that is a massive skill issue. She has basically no health and dies like in 1 rotation.

-19

u/ivari May 03 '26

isnt this just Genshin 3.x boss design

15

u/ImGroot69 May 03 '26

it's only Wenut that came into my mind from Genshin's 3.x boss. and we haven't seen that bs of a boss used in any endgame in like 2 years.

7

u/luciluci5562 May 03 '26

Only Wenut, which everyone hates.

They didn't release any more bosses with long invuln phases ever since.

47

u/Typical-Opposite-989 May 02 '26

what they mean is that the plot of 3.1 is disconnected from 3.3.

Aemeath's character went from being complex to generic, magically overcoming all her problems in just one patch.

This has led to harsh criticism of Lahai-Roi in general, labeling the entire cast as "superficial" and not deep or immersive enough. They cite well-developed characters like Phrolova, Cantarella, lupa and ofc carthy as examples.

27

u/Tzhaa May 03 '26

My main issue with Lahai-Roi is the whole college plot feels like forced window dressing. It’s completely pointless in the main plot, Rover is older than the school, doesn’t attend classes, doesn’t lack for knowledge when they have the Black Shores mega pc on speed dial, and doesn’t need it in resolving the real threat of Aleph-1. It’s just empty fan-service for the theme.

I agree that Rinascita is still their best story arc, with better overall characters, despite its flaws. At least they seem to be including previous banner characters a little more in recent patches (except for Chisa lmao), which was their biggest problem in 2.X. I’m still mad how they fucked over Lupa.

17

u/Hiero_Potato May 03 '26

I'm still mad as fuck with what they did to Chisa in 3.0. Really? Her reunion with her family was an optional dialog in a quest with basically "I found them they got surprised all is fine teehee".

Brooooooo. Ugh.

3

u/vahneo May 04 '26

Wdym, Chisa appear A LOT during 3.3 story. She just has no dialogue whatsoever because clearly she is too busy to talk with us who is RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER.

15

u/markcan_killua May 02 '26

oh i whole heartedly agree with the lahai roi cast feeling lackluster and not being as compelling as riniscitas. Like I thought lupa was bad for getting cucked from the story initially but chisa was a whole other level of wasted potential. A lot of things just felt undercooked compared to the climax of 2.0 arc

1

u/vahneo May 04 '26

Kuro noted feedback regarding Lupa so they make Chisa appear again in 3.3, only for her to have no voice lines whatsoever. It's a joke lmao.

2

u/FishySardines99 GI, HSR, WW May 02 '26

Aemeath's character went from being complex to generic, magically overcoming all her problems in just one patch.

What problems did she have in 3.1 that she overcome them in 3.3?

25

u/SigmundFreud101 May 02 '26

Dying.

-9

u/FishySardines99 GI, HSR, WW May 02 '26

It's not like she revived magically

20

u/Oleleplop May 02 '26

she's a literral ghost in the shell (that's cool ) but still, she got off easy when considering the threat is a sentient black hole.

Saved by a deus ex machina.

2

u/Ha-kyaa Racing Master (reply Ha-kyaa sucks for free sauce) May 03 '26

GITS mentioned?!?!?!?

15

u/Oleleplop May 02 '26

while i found the story patch good, i also think it got resolved quickly and even worst : with a literal deus ex machina.

I sincerely think saving her should have been the final of 3.x. They only took 2 months in game to be able to do that, that's quite insane.

I can applaud Kuro for making it good despite how it feel compressed but again : that should have not been resolved so quickly imo.

5

u/RigenX May 02 '26

Or how they squandered Phrolova with 2,7 after 2,5...

11

u/Commercial_Let2850 May 02 '26

I don't really see her as squandered, unless you mean that she's alive, though even in 2.5 they reminded you a couple times that killing her Is near impossible.

20

u/RigenX May 02 '26

Yeah, but many people tought she was "out of the game for a while" at bare minimum. To age like a fine wine with her situation. Only to be immidiately brought back in 2.7

9

u/Nine9breaker May 03 '26

Not to mention, when she was brought back it was essentially as "henchmen #2" along with Scar.

I don't even think she had dialog. She was just there to distract part of the cast while the plot was happening elsewhere.

It was.... Not a good decision. She could have been replaced with a juiced up Tacet Discord and it wouldn't have made a difference.

18

u/Nokanii May 02 '26

I mean

I knew she was coming back.

I didn’t expect her to just randomly pop up again with zero explanation behind it.

They brought her back in a terrible way.

4

u/Lost_Ad3471 May 02 '26 edited May 02 '26

Honestly, a better approach would have been Rover failing to save her but since it's a gacha game, we know that will never happen.

1

u/AlMaDaP Azur Lane, Princess Connect, Blue Archive, Eversoul, Nikke, WuWa May 03 '26

So I wasn't the only one thinking that Amy was saved too early, I kinda agree that there should be build-up because I thought it would be like at least 3.4 before saving her (or maybe like Carte situation)

18

u/SouthernSkin1255 May 02 '26

That text hits really hard

0

u/HaoHaiYou_ May 03 '26

What the actual fuck are you talking about

1

u/Glittering-Pin-1343 May 04 '26

Wait, I don't play wuwa anymore but know about Aemeath. Did she come back in 3.3 or something? Literally no one dies in Wuwa, huh?

0

u/Chance-Analyst-8045 May 03 '26

The logic isn't logging. You’re plugged into a niche-ass Chinese sports forum like Hupu, yet you're telling me you've never heard of 'nb=牛逼=very cool'? Make it make sense.

0

u/iwanthidan Journey Well~ *Boop* May 04 '26

So it's a slander made by antis.

Who cares? You can summarize almost any other big gacha game story update in the similar way.

''the problem remained unresolved, and the Tunnel Warriors arc was also a mess."

This is like poorly AI translated. What problem remains unresolved, what the fuck is the Tunnel Warriors arc?

Could 3.3 MSQ be better? Imho an extra hour would give a little more time and meaning to some of the plot threads and some of the bigger moments would have been more impactful but still, 3.3 was a pretty solid conclusion to the Lahai-Roi Arc.

Btw, unless you hangout on Gacha Twitter Space (aka Hell), WuWa players criticize the game a lot. Same as Endfield, CZN, or any other gacha games of which the players would like them to take on their feedback and improve. Many of the QoL updates are a result of players feedback for a long time. I don't think CN doesn't accept criticism either, in most of the controversial cases, they are the first ones to express their negative reception.

-35

u/FishySardines99 GI, HSR, WW May 02 '26 edited May 02 '26

It's so funny to me that people who criticize 3.3 for saving Aemeath still can't provide a concrete example why they think 3.3 is a mediocre.

Rover in 3.1: "I will cross the stridergate and bring Aemeath back"

Rover in 3.3: Crosses stridergate and manages to bring Aemeath back in second try with help of people of Lahai Roi, after failing first time when tried alone

People: Omg Rover managed to bring Aemeath back it's bad story

40

u/Lost_Ad3471 May 02 '26

I found it mediocre because there were no stakes. Everyone and their mother knew Rover would save Aemeath. If there was at least some sort of failure by Rover to save someone before like e.g. Cartethyia or Iuno or someone else, then noone would be sure if they would succeed.

-19

u/FishySardines99 GI, HSR, WW May 02 '26

Like geniuenly why are we suprised the story about saving Aemeath that have been set up since 3.1 ends with saving the Aemeath in 3.3?

It's like watching Interstellar and getting disappointed Cooper finds his way to Morphy at the end

23

u/Lost_Ad3471 May 02 '26

I am not surprised and that's the point. When the story so far has had 0 points of failure to save someone, you just know Aemeath will be saved. There is no tension, no stakes. You just know it will happen.

And it's not just wuwa, every AAA gacha game does that. It's just how the gacha genre for these games is. Companies can't risk upsetting the players when it comes to characters. Arguably, HSR let Cyrene "die" but I doubt she will stay like that and we will probably get a side story later where she is freed from the cycle.

1

u/vahneo May 04 '26

I hate HSR and their "death" story. It's soo overused it lost the meaning. The Penacony story is overhyped af. By the time the Amphoreous death come, I already feel numb.

21

u/Typical-Opposite-989 May 02 '26

I don't care if she saved her or not, what is certain is that everyone put on a Sherlock Holmes hats creating theories that even placed Chisa at the center in china and the whole plot was predictable, except for the presentation.

That's objectively correct; there were no surprising plot twists like in 2.2, 2.5, or 2.7.

-19

u/FishySardines99 GI, HSR, WW May 02 '26 edited May 02 '26

Objectively correct what? That Chisa didn't have major role in it? Yes community was wrong

But is this the only differentiator from mid to good for 5 hour quest 😅

And it had much more plot twist than entirety of 2.X.

  • GA destroying Ashinohara at the end,
  • GA naming Rover the Rover, and they planned Rover's journey, YangYang in the start potentially being avatar of GA?
  • Exostrider opening the same portal the goddess lady opened in the starting cutscene of the game?

-14

u/Suspicious-Mud_0 May 03 '26

Lol, hilarious how bro got hard downvoted for facts. Meanwhile you've larper from certain community with hidden profiles crying bitter tears. Can't believe people still sticking to 'nooo, the story is disconnected'.

21

u/Karma110 May 02 '26

So it’s not just EN fans that do that?

10

u/egamIroorriM HSR/ZZZ/GI May 03 '26

153

u/RigenX May 02 '26

Hah...Just like WuWa's sub.

God forbid you mention Genshin in there. People will flame on you and dislike you. Even for basic criticism of WuWa... And i tought ToF sub was the only bad outlier in that regard...

126

u/Commercial_Let2850 May 02 '26

Honestly, the main WuWa sub Is a massive pendulum, either endless doompost or endless glaze, depending on the time you're posting you'll be downvoted for either praising/enjoying the game or criticizing it. That's why i primarily stick to leak sub or some <insert char name> mains subs since they're generally much more chill.

20

u/fast_stillness May 03 '26 edited May 03 '26

I find the Main sub is tamed as comapred to the wuwaleak sub. They're so much worse

54

u/RigenX May 02 '26

I had the pleasure of experiencing that firsthand a few days ago... Just for mentioning Genshin and criticizing WuWa a bit for how it handles it's story and characters...Never again.

-49

u/Mihtaren May 02 '26

Both games have pretty bad writing to be honest.

13

u/corecenite May 03 '26

here's my two cents at least (i play the quests on autoplay):

in genshin, i stayed awake wide eyed until i reached the first "city".

in wuwa, i already fell asleep before i even reached the first "city".

61

u/RigenX May 02 '26

From my point of view Genshin's story is better. But i will not go hating on some1 thinking otherwise. Tough there were a couple of WuWa zealots throwing at me their toxic waste, which wasn't a pleasant experience... Just because i even dared to mention Genshin(they loved to call it Genshi*)

6

u/karillith May 03 '26

"G game" X)

-20

u/1Whyfu May 03 '26

genshin story is masterpiece afterall if you dont count the execution (lame af)
Also the recent story is kinda childish, winning against strong smart villain with the power of friendship is reminds me of what i watch on my elementary school.

12

u/Ok_Tie_1428 arknights May 03 '26

I legitimately don't know what you are referencing.

-1

u/1Whyfu May 04 '26

the battle against dottore, its so cringe i cant suffer myself to watch it, especially columbinas line before beating him🫥

5

u/kokorean-mafia May 03 '26

That’s literally the HSR sub in my experience.

1

u/T8-TR May 03 '26

Sticking to the leaks subs is p much what I do w/ all these games, because they're usually far more reasonable (maybe because there's far less people?) than the main subs.

But yeah, seeing WuWa go from overly doomed to overly praised to overly doomed, etc in a seemingly neverending cycle is lowkey kinda fascinating to me.

11

u/War-Inquisitor May 03 '26

I mean leak subs are probably worse, since they're full of people that doompost everything at every possible moment and say things that seem straight out of a husbando/queensof sub.

2

u/vahneo May 04 '26

Wuwa Leak sub when it come to gameplay is intolerable with all the doomposting. Actually maybe it's gacha leak sub in geneal all about doomposting.

1

u/FishySardines99 GI, HSR, WW May 05 '26

Wuwa leaks sub purged most of people from husbandos and queensof so it's actually chill there. It's not just husbando adjacent sub like other leak subs

Tbf, you can’t even praise it in it’s own sub without getting downvoted to hell.

14

u/Jer_Sg May 03 '26

It happens here all the time too, mention in a comment you like wuwa and you get a bunch of toxicity your way, because according to them a certain cc represents the entire community...

I've never talked shit about Genshin, infact I like it more than Wuwa, but I still like Wuwa alot.

Wuwa in this place is like the FFXIV of r /mmorpg

10

u/luciluci5562 May 03 '26

Wuwa in this place is like the FFXIV of r /mmorpg

Has the same toxic positivity issue too. Coincidence?

4

u/RigenX May 03 '26

That toxic positivity took a hit after Dawntrail, but i guess there's still gonna be people that are riddled with "toxic positivity"

I only hope that Evercold will bring FFXIV back to speed.

1

u/Jer_Sg May 03 '26

I am very familiar with the community and the toxic positivity.

It being stagnant and the devs refusing to do something about it because the community will tell you to fuck off is one of the reasons i left the game in endwalker.

Im more so talking about the people in mmorpg, who complain about the msq and its length ad naseum, despite it being the main draw and the reason alot of people have love for the game.

Even now that Evercold has shown us some of the changes coming, they still wont give it the light of day, meanwhile wow and gw2  have been just as stagnant and formulaic as xiv has, but dont you dare talk about the shortcomings of those.

Its all just tribalism, to the point you are not allowed to say anything positive about wuwa or xiv in these places, because you are treated the same as the people that give the community a bad name

May i introduce you to the concept of astroturfing ? It happened at launch and is now just a shell of what it was supposed to be — now, it’s only there to trash the game and that’s why non-official wuwa subs gets way more traction than the official one since they’re not full of haters that shut down any positive and constructive things about it.

50

u/GraveXNull May 03 '26

What's funny is how the whole sub (and ton of drama CC on YouTube) play the victim and act like Genshin sub is the one that's toxic towards them...

Even though the Genshin community barely ever mentions Wuwa outside talking about the drama and toxicity.

8

u/RigenX May 03 '26

Yeah...That's why i was a bit surprised to get jumped by toxicity there. I mean i expect some rotten apples, but sometimes they go overboard.

13

u/ssgstrx May 03 '26

The funny thing is, at the hoyoverse side, they treat wuwa like an honorary member, at least at the hoyoverse powerscaling sub

42

u/FishySardines99 GI, HSR, WW May 02 '26

WuWa subreddit is filled with people who doesn't even like the game, that's why other unofficial WuWa sub has 2-3x more traction than official one

3

u/Sethinify May 02 '26

Don't like the game in general or the current anniversary ?

21

u/FishySardines99 GI, HSR, WW May 02 '26

They don't like the game even normally, character drips, showcases gets 2x less likes and interactions than non-official sub. Discussions, theories, praises etc all getting downvoted and every criticism getting upvoted to high heavens

12

u/dalivillage May 02 '26

Discussions, theories, praises etc all getting downvoted and every criticism getting upvoted to high heavens

Outside the anniversary meltdown, going to the sub and sorting by top posts, links from: past month/year shows the complete opposite

15

u/FishySardines99 GI, HSR, WW May 02 '26

You only see those that survived initial downvote wave and not removed by mods.

I'm subbed to the sub, I see what kind of discussion goes there daily, you only see top results

Like just before I saw a thread in my timeline, "3.3 quest was amazing" 30 upvotes 80 replies

5

u/dalivillage May 02 '26

What even is an "initial downvote wave"?

"3.3 quest was amazing" 30 upvotes 80 replies

Or maybe... some people just dislike it? Same way dislike posts also get downvoted. Or is it really that impossible to dislike?

9

u/FishySardines99 GI, HSR, WW May 02 '26

What even is an "initial downvote wave"?

Posting anything positive about the game, be it story or anything else, most likely will result in random people swapning under comments within minutes bashing your opinion or downvoting you and killing visibility

6

u/dalivillage May 02 '26

This happens in every subreddit especially video games. You're trying to fight ghosts

→ More replies (0)

8

u/Feiz-I May 03 '26

Because whenever one brings up genshin in there, it's almost always in bad faith by trolls.

I assure you, you could go to the genshin sub right now and bring up about how wuwa is better or whatever and the exact same thing will happen. Not accepting criticism isn't even unique to wuwa here and just about every other game's main sub is like that, including genshin's. (same place any criticism or even mentions of the skip button gets you mass downvoted and flamed by elitists lmao)

7

u/manhbeohauan1999 May 02 '26

I remember that WuWa sub banned mentions of GI since long ago to stop toxicity against GI, so the place is actually less toxic than other platform.

7

u/Sethinify May 02 '26

Well i have strange feeling that posting something about Wuwa in Genshin tag would also end up badly, both communities hates each other and i doubt that it will change anytime soon, but for example endfield sub had quite a lot of both wuwa and genshin insipred post and somehow people didn't kill each other so there is glimmer of hope.

11

u/herminihildo May 02 '26

To be fair, WuWa is barely mentioned in the sub. Whenever there's one in the comment section, it's kinda 50/50.

If someone comes in with something inflammatory in the likes of "WuWa could never", shit goes down really fast. But I've also seen civil conversations from time-to-time.

Honestly, I've seen more hate in Miliastra Wonderland compared to WuWa. Some people still think it pulled resources that affect exploration in Genshin.

6

u/corecenite May 03 '26 edited May 03 '26

7

u/RigenX May 02 '26

I dont even get why some1 would go to such lenghts...I can understand hating on some1 if they just trashtalk the game. But just for mentioning another game,as well as for any criticism towards your game. And constructive criticism will only help the game! Just ughh...

The same happened with ToF sub. They havent changed one bit still.

You’re still proving the post correct. Jesus Christ, I know you guys can’t read but again, it’s their personal experience. You can cry all you want pushing the idea that their experience isn’t valid but that only makes you look like a crybaby. It’s ironic that for somebody who claims not to care, you’re raging about someone’s experience not being the same as yours.

20

u/Oleleplop May 02 '26

you know, i genuinely love wuwa but i hope they get hit with a sizeable revenue loss so they lock in again. Im not even talking about the story here even though i think 3.3 is good but resolved things way too fast considering the crazy build up they had in 3.1.

No i'm talking about a bit of everything : 3 banners per patch but pulls didn't increase, game is still a mess on PS5 and NTE runs better despite being on UE5, endgame is barely being improved or changed.

All in all, they're getting too comfortable with themselves because they make a lot of money.

10

u/jhadescries1 May 02 '26

this...i really want this so they go back to DEV LISTENED

2

u/Maxlastbreath May 03 '26

It's 3.2 that was bad, not 3.1 or 3.3. 3.2 is a complete waste of time.

2

u/Oleleplop May 03 '26

disagree, 3.2 was needed for understanding more Hiyuki's role, the memory type resonators "gimmick"and the Fractsidus scheme while they prepare for the Exostrider activation.

It has been said multiple times that they can't rush it and it wasn't even fully ready in 3.3.

6

u/Maxlastbreath May 03 '26

That doesn't change the fact 3.2 wasn't a good quest that barely moved the plot.

2

u/EtadanikM May 03 '26

Since when did WuWa have 3 banners per patch.

2

u/Oleleplop May 03 '26

reading myself, i see it might come out as "there is 3 new banners per patch" but no my bad.

I meant, there is 3 banners RUNNING every phase, one new character and 2 reruns every 21 days.

8

u/EtadanikM May 03 '26

...Why should re-runs matter to income? We only care about income relative to the number of new characters. I've never heard of demanding more pulls because of re-runs.

3

u/corecenite May 03 '26

probably because the chances of horizontal investment is high for casual players. unfortunately for them, they can't pull for said horizontal investment if pull income hasn'f increased either.

5

u/GreekAthanatos May 03 '26

Heavy disagree, I love having 2 reruns at the same time because it means you dont have to wait forever to get someone you may have passed on the first time.

Otherwise, if I still dont want them I can skip them and my pull economy is unaffected by their existence.

-9

u/Dragoon88ex May 03 '26

NTE does not run better on pc than wuwa. Wuwa can run on max settings on 4k for me while NTE shits it's pants and dies if I turn on Full ray tracing

exactly, klnb=库洛牛逼=kuro the best (in a sarcastic way).

It's a meme on chinese internet, originally 原神牛逼(genshin the best), used by kurofans against hoyofans. I guess they backfired now.

4

u/EtadanikM May 03 '26

It just means Genshin fans went & paid it back during the convention. Nobody in the WuWa community would use that phrase sarcastically. Organizers allow anybody to put dots, not just players of the game, so rival communities just use it to **** on each other.

8

u/Competitive-Source67 May 03 '26

Im pretty sure klnb literally means ku luo niu bi in cn which directly translates to kuro is amazing. It ain’t that deep. Cn playerbase uses a lot of nb in their sentence.

7

why are y’all downvoting this wtf?

6

u/HaoHaiYou_ May 03 '26

Ain’t no way people believed this bullshit right? Klnb stands for 库洛牛逼 meaning “Kuro NB”. There’s a meme on CN now that’s like 原神牛逼 or basically xx NB

3

3

u/LowOptimal2752 May 03 '26

What, this is not true at all, and what the heck is Hsiao Klnb, is that even a proper word? People seriously believe in this crap?

Also, even Chinese players who hate Kuro rarely shit on "Kuro never listens", they shit about other things instead (mostly character designs and plots).

2

Some people below are saying it means "Cool and Awesome," like people are praising Kuro. Who's right?)))
Why am I getting dislikes? Guys, please, I'm not defending Kuro, I hate them too, and I hate Wawa, please don't...

19

u/AshGreninjaGamer May 02 '26

Considering the letters were written with black dots, I think the above answer is the right one

4

u/Namiko-Yuki May 03 '26

top comment said that it stands for how WuWa players wont ever criticize the game... followed by WuWa players defending it and saying that "nono it totally means the game is super cool even tho it is written in black dots not red"
So my money is also 100% on top comment being right and the wuwa players proving their point.

10

u/EtadanikM May 03 '26

The top comment being up voted honestly says everything that is wrong about this sub-Reddit:

  • Vast majority of people don't know Chinese.
  • Those that do, engage in pure agenda posting with distorted context.
  • Nobody does basic facts checking before talking **** but get up voted any way as long as it fits the agenda.

"Hsiao Klnb" doesn't exist as a phrase on the Chinese internet. The abbreviation "KLNB" almost certainly stands for "Kuro Niubi" (since Kuro is abbreviated as KL in Chinese and NB is a very common abbrevation for Niubu = cool/awesome).

But since it is in black, it is probably meant sarcastically. But it has nothing to do with the WuWa community not taking criticism (the WuWa community in CN is one of the most critical communities - and people know this).

2

u/LowOptimal2752 May 03 '26

Hsiao Klnb is not even a proper word, it is just a made up crap

-11

u/PresentationBetter52 May 02 '26

The Reds could easily get lost

7

u/AshGreninjaGamer May 02 '26

Sure, but there was no other dots where the letters were so it’s unlikely. In other squares, there are letters written in red dots so that clearly didn’t stop people from writing positive messages in red.

8

u/Namiko-Yuki May 03 '26

top comment said that it stands for how WuWa players wont ever criticize the game... followed by WuWa players defending it and saying that "nono it totally means the game is super cool even tho it is written in black dots not red"

0

u/PresentationBetter52 May 03 '26

I didn't understand anything. Can you put it another way?

4

u/Namiko-Yuki May 03 '26

I am saying the original comment seems more like it is correct, he said it means wuwa players wont ever accept criticism of their game.

The people saying it means "Cool and Awesome," are likely wuwa players proving OP right, cause they cant accept criticism of their game. and are trying to say the stuff written in BLACK dots is actually good.

6

u/HaoHaiYou_ May 03 '26

Klnb stands for 库洛牛逼 not whatever the top comment is referring to. Yes it means “Kuro awesome” or something to that effect but it could be used in a way that is ironic

-1

u/mak1mamommy May 03 '26

"KLNB" is Chinese internet slang for "Kuro Lǎobǎn Niú Bī" (库洛老板牛逼). Translation: It literally means "Kuro Boss is freaking awesome!" or "Kuro Boss is GOATed." It’s what players spam when Kuro Games gives out massive rewards or does something "gigachad." It has absolutely NOTHING to do with Confucius or "filial sons" blindly serving a king.

And Kuro means 'black' in Japanese, that's why it's black.

1

u/egamIroorriM HSR/ZZZ/GI May 03 '26

1

u/ArchCar6oN ULTRA RARE May 03 '26

Tbf, if the Confucianism part is not some kind of humor that's not the actual meaning... but the mocking part is right, ** NB was original for mocking GI players, something like "they have been programmed to say GI is GOOD", and CN Wuwa fans use it a lot because of the "PVP reason" all you guys here know.

But the meme itself is way too out of nowhere; tons of people don't get it. So now it becomes a half-half situation, half people use it to say "IT IS FREAKING GOOD(Literal meaning)" or to mock others that been mind controlled.

-6

u/happymudkipz May 02 '26

shoulda put that over ZZZ lol. If you have any criticism there you're a "tourist", you don't play the game, or you're not the target audience.
