At the end of the day, defending a game will not help you with anything.

Well, it depends. If its defending a game from unfounded shit thats leading straight into defamation territory or instigating idiots to harass the creators/staffs for no good reason then I think you’re fine doing that

u/weaplwe Jun 20 '26
At the same time, criticizing a game incorrectly will actively worsen your experience.

people defend their politics cause politics is essential for society
people defend sports teams usually its pride for their homes.
Why do people defend gacha companies? Pride for their essential jpegs?

Joke aside, I still don't understand how the girl in the picture fall in love with a bee while she have that muscle handsome man beside her (I don't remember she actually fall in love with the bee but I guess she like him)
133
u/Silviana193 Jun 20 '26
Iirc, the man was kinda an narcissistic asshole.
Even if you take the bee out of the question, it’s really implied that the relationship days was already numbered

I will Watch it again tonight just to be sure, but, iirc, they never actually went out. The bee has a crush on her, but I don’t remember them actually dating.
Iirc, the man was feeling insecure and believe that the bee is getting too close with the girl and tried to murder the bee.
Then the man and the woman fought, and she said stuff like “he is the first man that actually makes me happy.”
I guess we kinda have to interpret that scene on our own. But, I argue being insecure that a bee might steal your girlfriend is actually more unhinged.

Lol, I remember when Raiden was first shown so many were complaining about her design... and then she released and became the highest selling character (at the time).
31
u/Namiko-Yuki Jun 20 '26
the "OMG She HAS to wear PANTS or I wont pull!!!" complaints are so performative.
LOL it is every time a character wearing a skirt is revealed, and then the character's banner does completely fine.IDK either it is all performative and these people don't actually boycott skirt designs and just say they do, or these people are just a very loud minority who cant actually affect a character's banner popularity.
36
u/Ahery_0829 Jun 20 '26
People complaining about designs (it’s me, I'm people) are a minority within another minority (reddit community). Any complaint you see on reddit pre-release of a character won’t translate to their sales
0
u/Namiko-Yuki Jun 20 '26
then why even complain? or better question why even keep engaging with a product that clearly doesn't give what you want?
this is some serious "omg my boyfriend keeps punching me and beating me up everyday, but I don't wanna break up I just wanna complain about the situation endlessly everyday" energy LMAO.32
u/rayhaku808 Jun 20 '26
I think there's a pretty fair difference when this person complains versus other people who complain that aren't self-aware. The type of person you're describing is part of the ones that aren't. This one is more like, complaining about the boyfriend's annoying habits.
8
u/Namiko-Yuki Jun 20 '26
I guess, I just kinda feel like at a certain point you have to accept stuff wont change and no amount of complaints will change it. so like either stop engaging with the boyfriend until he changes his ways, or you kinda have to accept to shut up and endure it if you refuse to leave.
24
u/rayhaku808 Jun 20 '26
I do get it though; Complaining about the same thing that they'll never change is kinda meaningless. But if someone enjoys the game overall despite their grievances then I think that's fair too? It's harder to find nuance and voice them properly these days. Ain't it a bitch lol
10
u/Namiko-Yuki Jun 20 '26
I get it but its like, perfect example I hated how Genshin doesn't have an artefact loadout system but after complaining about it a few times in Survey I kinda got the message and its like "yea okie no use going on about this" and I just decided to go nuts on artefacts and give everyone their own sets (IT also helped since it gave even more reason to do this)
But when it specifically comes to complaints about the designs or male/female character ratio its like the people who are upset NEVER quit complaining, they never reach that stage of acceptance and understanding that "this shit isn't ever gonna change how I want it, I am wasting my time/energy thinking about or complaining about this"
Like I also have complaints about certain stuff, but at a certain point you kinda need to choose between putting it aside and stop thinking/talking about it and enjoy the things you do enjoy or to call it quits and leave understanding that the thing wont ever change to suit you or your taste.
I can drool over ZZZ character previews and designs like crazy, but I will never be able to enjoy the game due to its gameplay and gameplay loop. I am not gonna force myself to play the game and complain endlessly that they should swap to a slower paced combat system like Genshin has, cause I know that is never going to happen.
11
u/Ahery_0829 Jun 20 '26
Because I still like playing the game? I know they are capable of making characters that I like, and I still want to see where the story goes. It just kinda sucks to see the game's designs fall into the more sexy = more money when I originaly came for cool characters
14
u/Namiko-Yuki Jun 20 '26
IDK
the more I hear people like you it really reinforces that BF allegory. The game/devs/sudio = the Guy/Boyfriend
Players like you(who dislike the male/female character ratio and the sexualized female characters) = the girlfriend/wife who keeps complaining about how badly he treats you and never spoils you (with designs you like) but you will keep playing cause he is such a nice guy and you foolishly hope he will change and suddenly start giving you what you want.
Then there are players like me (who love the shorter skirts, exposed armpits, exposed backs and literally go "I don't care if its a snowy blizzard nation, put on your thigh highs and mini skirt ty") = the side piece who the boyfriend cheats on the girlfriend with, who gets spoiled and treated well by the guy (giving us the designs and characters we like and enjoy) we are having the time of our life with the BF, while the GF sits in her room crying and complaining at a wall.
Like I seriously cant understand the mentality of the players that are in that position and choose to cry and complain at a wall, knowing things wont ever change but refusing to leave. Like why even complain then? when you know deep inside things wont ever change to the way you want? Like at that point you kinda have to choose between shut up and endure or leave.
-3
u/Ahery_0829 Jun 20 '26
For me, I keep playing zzz because chara design in this game isn’t a deal breaker as long as their writing and interaction between each others are good enough. Cissia has a mess of an outfit, but I love her voice, her personality and her duo with Billy. And like I said I still really like playing the endgame and clearing with my non meta units.
I guess I complain because I'm frustrated. From a design perspective I don’t have anything against a sexy character but I prefer when they have multiples hooks. And with the new character annonced, they’re really not far from a design I'd really like, but it feels like they made them sexy but underdevelopped their other aspects.
10
u/DranDran WuWa/ZZZ/Limbus Jun 20 '26
And with the new character annonced, they’re really not far from a design I'd really like, but it feels like they made them sexy but underdevelopped their other aspects.
Talking about ZZZ this argument has always baffled me, because its cyclical with ZZZ complaints and grievances. Ill preface my rant with the statement that this is not directed specifically toward you, as you seem to be on the more reasonable side of complaints, but for the usual larping/performative bunch on social media:
Character with design people declare "too gooner" or "recycled" gets revealed, people on social media cook up a shitstorm. Complaints about how the design is trash, character (who was only just revealed and appeared maybe in one or two patches) is underdeveloped.
Then their actual banner patch comes out, character gets a LOT more story focus, their actual story arc plays out, their pre-rendered cutscenes drop, people get to actually play them and there's this big turnaround. Recently happened with Cissia (she got her fair share of "gooner design" allegations), its happened with Promeia, It's happening again with Remielle and Lady Sunbringer. Particularly egregious are people bitching about a characters design based on a T-Pose leak on a grey background, without context of story, quality of animations, cutscenes and an in depth exploration of their character arc.
I predict Remielle will have a similar massive turnaround, as will Lady Sunbringer, and the people that claimed foul will be clapping like seals and singing Hoyos praises until the next offending character drops.

Okay that's a wild comparison man, I think we can slow down here😭
I think it's fine to want more of what you personally like, it's just the entitlement that can be annoying, and being toxic to others doesn't help
Obviously most people aren't like that too, it's just this fringe part of the fanbase that's stinking up discussions9
u/M15t4 Jun 20 '26
WuWa struggled with that a lot in Rinascita arc
It was the same cycle:- design is leaked
- people doompost them as goonerbait and harem
- turns out they're actually a good character
- they switch up like nothing ever happened
They seemingly finally unlearned this behaviour but y'all hang in there it's pretty annoying when there's a lot of people like that😭

10
u/Churaragi Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 20 '26
How much of that is just due to social media grifting though.
Take HSR for example, during 1.x it was all by the same well known circle of gacha grifters and drama farmers who capitalized on drama baiting by using resentiment from Genshin players at that time to buy themselves an audience while promising to be on the side of next big thing.
I'm sure if it was up to Hoyo they would bring all 3 closer together, given they quickly went to make their own launcher with all games, they are fully aware of the shared playerbase.
But social media rewards negativity far more than anything else. The vast majority of hoyo players of the 3 games don't hate each other but if you correlate it to the type of CCer they follow or social media they use that changes entirely.
May as well ask if they are realy "fans", see how many quit for other games yet still talk about Genshin as an ex-wife. Some are evil immoral jackass grifters and their followers, charitably are just losers in this sea of trash social media, getting attached to the first floating literal trashbag they saw.

Edit: sorry i misread and talked about Jonathan Joestar instead. Joseph's passive "Joestar Secret Technique", which allow normal encounters to result in victory, now work in story mode too. What I don’t get is people bragging about how F2P friendly their game is while at the same time bragging about how high revenue they make
If it is really F2P friendly, wouldn’t you want your game to have a lower revenue because that means people would be less inclined to spend?
3
u/Airknightblade Jun 20 '26
Maybe because they're mostly spending money on things that don't affect gameplay, like costumes and other cosmetics? There are games like that, you know.

It’s ineffective, but it makes sense that people are protective of “their” gacha because if it EOS, they lose literally everything they invested into it

It's not morally good, but not weird. Look no further than beefs between PC and consoles, Apple vs Linux vs Microsoft, Apple vs Android, Iphone vs Samsung vs Any Other Popular Smartphone maker, one MMO vs another, old and new Runescape, "true" RPG vs hack&slash (that's an old one), turn based vs action RPG, elitost of old RPGCodez vs everybody else, tabletop RPGs vs cRPGs... now I'm just going through the old ones of my youth, yeah, I remember Gothic vs Morrowind, too... good times... but also - sport clubs' fans, music stars' fans (and genres! That tended to turn into bullying and actual physical violence just as much as sport fandom, around 70-00s, at least in Europe; specific bands fans used physical violence towards fans of the rival band e.g. stealing their clothes, merch, shaving their head if they wear hair typical for the band - back in my youth - ley alone just beat each other. Ofc, this was always a very small subset of fans, just like in case of the sport - but the typical school bullying and low-level physical school violence, not contacting/playing with people who listened to the different genre - usually metal vs punk vs hip-hop, with a side of anti-pop... and violence between specific bands... so, bullying was pretty wide-spread. Compared to this, gacha tribalism is 'sweet summer child' moment), tv series, shippers vs other shippers, Star Trek vs Star Wars, sci-fi vs fantasy, old speculative fiction fans vs manga-anime crowd, specific brand of cars' fans, beefs between cities and countries, or niche hobbies' brands, like Canon vs Nikon, BMW vs Mercedes vs Lexus, dogs lovers vs cats lovers, coffee vs tea... even damn Italian pizza vs American one, vs variants from all over the world, hah, pizza with pineapple vs the one never with one!
The list is literally endless. It's the most normal, typical human behaviour, indeed studied pretty well. You may find it tiring, morally bad etc., but weird it is not

It's a toxic relationship, but they can't get out, so they take their anger out on others, especially if those others are happy.
Whenever I became unhappy with a game I simply stopped playing, but for some reason people are incapable of doing that, and they go even further in hatewatching things to fuel the anger.

I really don’t understand how Hoyo games still make insane amounts of money a month and people still spend so much on them and yet barely anything improves in them. Like how do people in the community brag about how much money those games make yet it’s clear the money really isn’t going back into the games.

Prob because Hoyo games are a lot more casuals and accessible/playable to a lot of devices imo. Personally as for me I like the story.

Hoyo games are more accessible. They're available on multiple platforms, have simple gameplay, and a huge fan base.

Maybe the gacha ccs where you get your information from are just a bit biased
