General NTE Developers forget to remove AI watermark

In their newest update 1.3, a new area has been added, along with it came new fishing spots and fishing catches.

One of their fishing assets contains the watermark from Doubao (豆包) a popular Chinese AI chatbot assistant with image and video generation powered by Seedance (Bytedance).

This has sparked heated debate amongst Chinese players, while not hardly criticizing the use of AI they do make fun of the fact that Doubao’s AI image generation watermark comes from the free version of the app, with many comments calling them cheap, criticizing their carelessness and questioning the real reason behind their low production costs.

To quote one of the comments:

“AI is fine, but using Doubao is just funny. The free version no less.”

Other comments talk about AI across the Chinese gaming industry, how other companies such as Hoyoverse and Netease have self-developed AI tools while Hotta Studio uses an AI chatbot assistant.

To put it on perspective, asking Doubao to generate an image is very similar to asking ChatGPT.

Quote from another comment:

“Doubao Doubao, help me generate a game asset of a purple crowned seahorse.”

I’ll add that the Chinese community already knew about the extent of AI usage in Neverness to Everness, though they weren’t expecting to see Doubao of all things.

As of this post, the watermark has been removed with the asset remaining the same otherwise.

Every asset intended for production is supposed to undergo rigorous review and pass approval

Not really. Maybe in games that all about small polished patches like endfield, then yes, but NTE is kinda opposite. They give a lot of content but less polished

It's absolutely hilarious people are ragging on Hotta for adopting a go fast and break things style of development when its proven to deliver more content AND especially when the most common complaint on 99% of the top gacha subs is "WHERE IS MA CONTENT?!?!?!?!?!!"

Nah most complaints are on broken features and story complains. I have not seen a lack of content complain for years.

.... your username references a current top gacha game where literally the entire community is up in arms that there is literally zero content lmao.

But okay, let's try a top hoyo game instead. Pretty much all the HSR complaints are that there is nothing to do except story every patch lmao. In fact the top thread about the upcoming patch is exactly that lmao.

The name is based on a car brand. I don't care about a9 endfield. Can't even see there's a missing d?

There will be if you play it like a normal game, something you hop in every once in a while and hop off to live life, not play religiously for 5 hours every day. No game has enough content for that, only employment. And these posts are scarce. There will be 10 post on why the meta is stupid, 3 horny post, and 4 reposting some stupid memes.

Maybe you're right, maybe there is complaints. Tell these people to play nte and similar content flood slop instead. Good riddance.

Edit: just forced myself to scroll through hsr sub, saw no content drought complaint in ~100 posts. Yeah top post.

Go figure you don't know how to read lmao. I said the top thread about 4.5 not the top 100 posts in general lmao.

And normal game...? HSR runs on a 6 week patch cycle. There is.... 8 hours of content per patch maybe? You're telling me "normal" gamers play 10 minutes per day? lmao.

My mind discarded the thread thing while reading. That's on me. But address my point, not the edit i added for additional context. Don't move the goalpost. I said in the original my stand if there are complaints. Or maybe you don't know how to read too, projection much?

Normal people don't need to play everyday. 2-3 hours per 3-5 days is good for me. 8 hours of content is not 8 hours of gameplay, not in the gacha games. And events and recurring modes etc. And take into account how many hours you spend before getting into this endgame stage.

Also I personally don't like hsr for how unrepeatable/unreplayable it is. It's almost a full meta game, without the meso from other players to spice things up of similar games like tcg yugioh etc.

And take into account most "normal" games have significantly less content than these, but they make it up with quality. I would take either 30 minutes of Florence, 2 hours of OPUS, or 6 hours of Detroit over 60 hours of NTE anyday for example. Or the occasional 2 hours tower climb with off meta team in Zenless (the obvious "inspiration" of NTE), if we want to stick with gacha games.

It is slop. Accept that it is slop and people can shame it for being slop, since that is what it is. And you can enjoy it despite it being slop. But don't be surprised when people point that out. Go play older gacha like gfl or a9 that is filled with lore if you need "content", id take a VN story over slop content anyday too. Gfl has a millions words+ for you to read.
