What in the world is silver palace doing here

When will people realize that virtually all video games conventions & awards are effectively (third-party) advertisement agencies... You pay, you play, simple.

78

u/Arcares07 8d ago

Isn’t this one quite literally that though? Like you into get nominated if you have floor space in the venue?

11

u/naoki7794 7d ago

I mean not really? I believe there are more than 5 mobile games that has a booth in Gamescom this year, so out of all of them (like 10~15), they nominate the best 5 to have a contest and create engagement. So just because you pay to get a booth there it doesn't mean you will get nominated, it's just the scope of this awards is only for the games that is there at Gamescom.

11

u/jaxrahul_ 7d ago

So genshin paid too?

12

u/Long-Bid6706 7d ago

technically yes

Could be that company behind Silver Palace "well spent" their funds to put game there. Now part of the players spam comments "why it's here" while other part start googling what this game about.

Anti-advertising still advertising

19

u/Billy5545 7d ago

No such thing as bad advertising after all

32

u/No-Car-4307 7d ago

they paid money XD these events are glorified marketing circle jerking

88

u/Provence3 8d ago

Same reason why Endfield was nominated last year.

58

u/ShuricanGG ULTRA RARE 8d ago

Paid nominations and they need to be there on the location to be nominated, hence why some games arent nominated like Wuwa. Its basically an Ad for Silver palace

2

u/zenmoUi 8d ago

I think it's because wuwa isn't going to gamescom this year

2

u/ShoddyPlate8618 5d ago

i mean both of you arent wrong. wuwa didnt pay to go so they didnt get nominated. its a glorified ad campaign

4

u/YuzuKaZe 7d ago

Tbf last year Endfield was also nominated before it released

29

u/Jumugen 8d ago

Silver Palace 2.0 was extremely good.

The Black Castle expansion really fixed a lot of issues the game had at its launch

29

u/Mortgage-Present This is a cry for help 8d ago

I still cant play it so I dont really care if its good? Ill leave a 5 star review when I get my hands on it. I dont think a game that most people cant play deserves the best mobile game from an objective point of view.

26

u/Jumugen 8d ago

If my comment didnt make it clear, the game isnt even out yet

Let me spell it out to you- those game awards giving body nominees are there because they pay for it, for exposure and such.

proving to you that the awards are rigged

Probably getting hyped to be the next Genshin killer, with being a ZZZ killer as the fallback.

25

u/Existing-Extreme9240 8d ago

Endfield was also nominated last year

222

u/neraida0 8d ago

For those asking, only those who will participate in the gamescom will be nominated, including those which are not released yet (Silver Palace).

200

u/DanteVermillyon 8d ago

That doesn't make sense, is not playable yet, what are they rewarding? A promise?

154

u/neraida0 8d ago

So from what I read, these games will submit gameplay footage, which will be evaluated by jury.

IMO this is flawed - imagine judging them based on whatever videos they submit instead of playing it hands on (though I understand it might take some time)

89

u/DanteVermillyon 8d ago

People really didn't learn shit about how easy it is for someone to just make a CGI video that looks good and make it pass as gameplay? This is the most flawed system for an award I have seen wtf

28

u/Sem_Dedo 8d ago

Anthem? Kek

7

u/higorga09 7d ago

The day before

Also everyone on this sub creaming their pants over Ananta before we saw a single second of gameplay

→ More replies (3)

28

u/KMinato00 8d ago

This is the stupidest shit I've read. The idea of video game award show is already bad, but judging the game from a video instead of actually playing them is a billion times worse. Did they already forgot how massive the discrepancy between Cyberpunk 2077 early trailers and the actual release?

11

u/ginginbam mental illness 8d ago

oh that's how ananta not in the nominees

19

u/JerichoDeath GFL2 8d ago

It's a good game, pinky swear

8

u/Particular_Web3215 Jenshin | Currency Wars | limbus 7d ago

with ananta in the event too, there's so many "trust the potential" unreleased games lmao.

8

u/Minute_Equipment3596 Genshin | WuWa | NTE | Ananta 8d ago

it will be playable I guess on site

7

u/naoki7794 7d ago

It's playable at the booths. So this is the [Best game you can play at Gamescom's booth this year] list. I have experience with ZZZ demo before and I don't think they will change it, but I wonder if they will bring a new demo for Genshin this year, with Snezhnaya and the new shooting gamemode.

3

u/Ok-Diamond-7121 7d ago

At the very least I do note most of the ones who got nominated have playable betas. I also do note that gacha games weren't the only ones pulling this stunt (Highguard IIRC), and that the awards did actually move to prevent gacha titles from participating because otherwise they'll dominate all the time. :X

→ More replies (6)

12

u/Mortgage-Present This is a cry for help 8d ago

I still think that slot should be given to another game but oh well

7

u/Single-Builder-632 8d ago

sooo why not ananta?

20

u/neraida0 8d ago

who knows - either they simply did not enter (they actually need to pay money) ... or might be that the requirements being asked is not met (they need to submit a detailed gameplay footage). If what we see during the livestream is nothing but another 2-minute trailer and there's no booth for people to play it then that's basically it (they don't have gameplay to show)

5

u/Single-Builder-632 8d ago

i think there is a new gameplay test. and they are at gamescon. guess they didn't pay upfront for the award.

2

u/StrawberryFar5675 7d ago

Nah, I think Ananta is still far away from release. WWM is there, they are both Netease games. Netease thinks it's a waste of money when it's far from release. While Silver Palace just ended their 2nd CBT and they are near to be release.

3

u/Akaiite 8d ago

if i have to guess, there is no mobile version present on gamescom, or they just didnt pay to be included

→ More replies (1)

192

u/Historical_Yak2148 8d ago

SP looks so blatanly forced tbh

It makes the award looks like a joke, how the hell can you evaluate a game that hasnt even come out yet???

Set that aside id say wwm has the best chance to win this, it won a lot in TapTap award last year in mainland China.

28

u/a4840639 8d ago

In fact, the awards in these kind of conventions almost always go to unreleased games. It is the other games being the exceptions, somewhat understandable due to the nature of being a long term service like games

7

u/Xerxes457 8d ago

Tides of Annihilation is also nominated for stuff and its not out yet. Whatever gameplay was submitted was what got them nominated.

16

u/__breadstick__ Genshin / ZZZ / NTE / UMA / BleachSR / Nikke 8d ago

They probably ran out of ongoing participating mobile games and picked the closest thing to fill the space

13

u/iClone101 Genshin Impact 8d ago

They definitely could've stuffed HSR in there but probably didn't want a Hoyo hat trick in their nominations

33

u/NoNefariousness2144 Miyabi is cool 8d ago edited 7d ago

Also even most loyal HSR fans admit they have been phoning it in for well over a a year now.

The lack of events is just embarrassing (especially with most events being auto gameplay that is less than 2 hours to complete).

14

u/__breadstick__ Genshin / ZZZ / NTE / UMA / BleachSR / Nikke 8d ago

Yeah that's a fair point too.

Though to be honest, I do kinda feel like HSR hasn't been as strong this year compared to the others. Granted, much of that is not its fault at all

7

u/ClothesOk2310 8d ago

You need to submit gameplay footage to be nominated, and hsr isn't the most famous for gameplay

3

Given what happened to the Japan region I kind of expected this.

The powercreep argument is overrated considering ZZZ is also quite guilty of it. A lot of the flak it's receiving is agenda based too. Eh, it already got there and was in ZZZ's place previously, so nevermind.

4

u/YokuzaWay 7d ago edited 7d ago

zzz guilty of having a 1.0 standard character one of the best supports in the game

this shit is a universe apart from hsr powercreep

2

u/A-Chicken 6d ago

Reasonable, but only if people still continue to use said best 1.0 support in the game. (Spoiler: not exactly, contrast Bennett from Genshin, she got outmoded the moment Rupture hit.)

I haven't played it since early 2.x, is it really that bad or is it something else?

35

u/BLACC_GYE ZZZ 8d ago

It’s just the optimization that isn’t the best. Even PC players, with the introduction of Roscaelifer and DX12, are having performance issues.

9

u/Ok_Dawg_2759 8d ago

Yeah, if they fix that I'd say they belong up there. Cause ZZZ has been on the up and up.

Mobile play has been rough for season 3. Especially the recent weekly addition called Operation bagel which is can really make the game chug for mobile.

50

u/GameWoods 8d ago

Star Rail, the most mobile friendly of the Hoyo trio, wasnt even nominated?

Ouch.

14

u/watermelonboi26 7d ago

"HSR could never" is becoming more true everyday.

9

u/CaptainBlob Input a Game 7d ago

The fanbase alone would disqualify the game to be nominated lmao

64

u/DissociationSenpai 7d ago

I love HSR but the game is toxic as hell. The powercreep and the fact with every update you need to build a new team because old characters become almost useless. And not only that but new content requieres specific mechanics from characters in the current banner and old character with that mechanic are too outdated to work.

You need to pull 4 characters for a team and their respective light cones because signature LC are significantly better than any option.

I think HSR is in my top 5 for predatory gachas

27

u/camiteran 7d ago

Yeah HSR used to be my favorite gacha and I was a whale but I usually like spending in games because I like the characters, not because I feel forced to get the extra copies and the LC and the premium teammates etc... was baited a few times and decided no more, the game keeps getting more and more predatory.

4

u/Rare_Marionberry782 7d ago

Same, 4.x has been getting dryer since… already cut spending on it. Dont know why not even excited for the “summer skins” tmr.

22

u/Chemical_Rent6824 HSR | OG Arknights 7d ago

I still play HSR and the balance in that game is the most dogshit thing I've ever experienced. You can get the character, their weapons and their teammates and there's a 50/50 chance they'll be worthless in less than a year. That's what happened to my Herta and Aglaea, the two dps characters I invested in during 3.x

14

u/DissociationSenpai 7d ago

HSR has such good characters but they become useless so fast ToT. In Arknights there is a noticeable powercreep but you can still use any old operator you like to use in new content and is not like you need to build an entire team to keep up. In HSR in other hard... powercreep is too fast it feels asphyxiating.

Still I play HSR but I totally ignore some content like Arbitration or The hardest floors of the MOC, PF and AS. It's so stressful seeing my heavily invested teams being absolute dogshit on those modes

every update you need to build a new team because old characters become almost useless

Not every patch, more like every 3 patches. Or you pull E2S1.

→ More replies (1)

34

u/Glazura 8d ago

Not like HSR would even deserve the spot with bare-minimum updates, atrocious powercreep and brain-numbing gameplay. It's not a game anymore, it's visual novel that updates once every 6 weeks. I pray they put The Herta in their next game so I can E6 her again and hopefully this time she wont become obsolete half a year later.

Silver Palace don't count as it hasn't came out. I haven't really heard anything much of Where Winds Meet. Zenless has a great 3.X, but did suffer in poor plot in 2.X

So for me it is either Endfield or Genshin. I say it is Genshin. Endfield is niche enough that not many play it. And Genshin's Nod Krai season was really good.

23

u/ggunslinger 8d ago

I haven't really heard anything much of Where Winds Meet

A decent wuxia game. Gameplay similar to all the other 3d gacha games in terms of open world exploration, mini-games and storytelling but you have 1 customizable MC and combat tries to mimic Sekiro - heavily parry-based. You have several weapon sets and mystic skills that you can equip similar to Wolf's prosthetics. There's a cosmetic gacha and an MTX shop with additional costumes, plenty of cheap ones. I will go into detail on the game's issues, but personally I prefer this game over stuff like WuWa because parry-based combat is much more engaging to me while boss fights tend to be fun or challenging. I hate the VFX vomit or cutscene-like gameplay that a lot of gacha games end up with, but no such issue with this combat.

A lot of social systems and an actual multiplayer - group fights similar to FFXIV's trials (5 and 10man), PvP and GvG. Plenty of other activities that work in multiplayer too, most of the open world exploration, events, additional social systems like marriage, all that kind of jazz.

As for faults, there are some huge glaring issues. Translation is horrible and it will have you scatching your head plenty of times, even when trying to figure out what buff supports which weapon skill and such. I joke often that it was translated by Grok with little to no supervision. Game's engine can sometimes look like it's fueled by developers' dreams and hopes to keep it all together and there are occasional visual hiccups like disappearing buildings or LOD issues. It may run like shit on console. UI and UX are absolutely terrible and learning to navigate them is a skill on its own. Doesn't help that game doesn't teach you all that well how to upgrade your stuff while leveling.

While a defender of S2, I'll agree that S2 suffered in places via mostly the MQs.

But many play Fortnite so...

20

u/dene323 8d ago

Why is this chainsaw madwoman from Fortnite advertising for a niche game like Endfield? Is there going to be a collab soon? Would we finally be getting a limited physical striker wielding chainsaw?

5

u/Rasikko Endfield, Wuwa, Infinity Nikki 8d ago

Always do.

18

u/Pitiful-Assignment-8 8d ago

ZZZ has seen steady growth starting from 2.7, so here you do not even need to take 3.x and beyond - just the last two episodes of season 2.
Nevertheless, yes - competing with GI here is difficult.

3

u/Eroica_Pavane 7d ago

That's far from a universal opinion though. I've seen a lot of friend lose interest in 2.6-3.0 and is just getting back into it now.

WWM would also honestly be very deserving of winning in terms of quality but doesn't have the popularity compared to the gacha games.

6

Endfield was also nominated last year

5

u/Ravonaa Wuthering Waves, Zenless Zone Zero 8d ago

I saw the tweet from Gachasmack, and while it does make sense that SP is there because it's presenting itself, I still find it kinda phony.

There's really very little feedback on this game, the devs can very easily showcase a trailer that sells more than it promises. Not saying SP is a bad game, but in general things like these are just not very honest to me.

2

u/karillith 7d ago

Those awards are never honest anyway. Even TGA is a clown circus everyone feels forced to participate in due to how much money and attention it can garner but one shouldn't take the results as sacred gaming texts.

LOL, the people that are mad at this list are so funny. It's the list of best Mobile games that are presented at this year's Gamescom's avenue, so it make perfect sense silver palace is on there. This happened last year too and some people are still surprised.

51

u/Economy-Meat-9506 8d ago

Why is Silver Palace there lol, why not HSR. This is an easy win for Genshin though.

18

u/Existing-Extreme9240 8d ago

Endfield was also nominated last year. Also Genshin was nominated last year but LADS won.

5

u/Particular_Web3215 Jenshin | Currency Wars | limbus 7d ago

since this is nominated by the game companies attending, seems like hoyo wanted to promote ZZZ 3.0 and Snez instead

4

u/Fillydefilly 7d ago

If you look at last year tho... yeah HSR shouldn't be there even instead of Silver Palace.

5

u/Oceanshan 7d ago

I don't know, aside from SP which is not released yet I've played all these games, and personally, my opinion would be: Genshin 6 and 7 patch is very strong but the game already get its award, so i don't know if it gonna get again. ZZZ is good but the 2.x kinda bad, though the later 2.x and 3.x is better, the game also haven't got an award yet so it can be a contender. En field, i don't think i would choose it, from game play to story, it kinda lost its soul from original Arknight.

The one i would choose is WWM. The game is very good with story, lore and even gameplay. The only thing i would criticize is that after clearing the PVE contents( which is very good if you like wuxia), the game would eventually become heavy pvp focused. So you either clear all contents as veterans and login every once in a while when new content hit or becomes a sweaty pvp player ( which, ironically, just as similar as these gacha games)

5

u/UncouthfulSlime7 7d ago

In reality PvP has always been more reliable to sustain the playerbase compared to any PvE endgame, even raids. At least it's not like PvP is mandatory in any way, you can completely ignore it and just have fun with the world casually like I do.

2

u/Oceanshan 7d ago

Yeah, that's why i lay it out. But once you try PVP it's addicting, trying to climb rank after season reset

2

u/throwaway-4865- 7d ago

Until it becomes P2W and 99% of gacha PvP is P2W.

2

u/Oceanshan 7d ago

The game power building is 100% grind though, only gacha is cosmetic

5

5

u/Gold_Television_3543 8d ago

Silver Palace!? Correct if I’m wrong but that game hadn’t even released yet, no? And looking at it’s graphic, I don’t think it will perform that well on mobile, unless the devs can pull some tricks up their sleeve.

3

u/tagle420 8d ago

How's WWM these days? Being a non character gacha game, does it have bigger player base comparing to others?

2

u/masternieva666 6d ago

no its lower player base but the game is bigger with new regions to explore and more good boss.

4

u/Oleleplop 7d ago

its GAMESCOM not the GAME AWARDS for those who don't read

14

u/ProfessionalTop346 8d ago

Silver palace being nominated tells everything of how rigged the event is

4

u/AdSuch3472 7d ago

endfield is also on last year nominee

did you also said this shit back then?

3

u/brliron 7d ago

I didn't. But that's because I didn't even know this event took place last year, I don't care about it enough to keep up with its news. Awards like this one are all rigged and have no value.

7

u/Existing-Extreme9240 8d ago

Endfield was also nominated last year but LADS won

7

u/Tasty-Pilot-1220 7d ago

Yeah, no. Silver palace doesn't deserve sh/t here.

1) We have no confirmation of how it will work on the average mobile device, which varies from region to region.

2) ts isn't even releases yet. This simply means that no true player could've nominated it. The mobile gaming community, therefore played no role here. It was def paid.

33

u/Glittering-Couple130 8d ago

I’m sorry it’s objectively Genshin
I know some of yall hate genshin for not having a few QoL
But Nodkrai story in my opinion is better than some 70$ AAA game stories I have experienced and the moon map in the last patch just tops it all
Sorry if I offended anyone by simply saying this lol

23

u/Glittering-Couple130 8d ago

I also don’t care who wins
Cuz none of this affects my enjoyment and from reading some replies it seems this is paid entry so not worth taking at all

33

u/Original-Shallot5842 8d ago

You offended the usual suspects in here who probably played Genshin last time in Inazuma.

But if you played Nod Krai + Snez that just dropped, the rest on this list dont even come close.

And im a zzz enjoyer aswell.

6

u/Glittering-Couple130 7d ago

I also have a ZZZ friend who played through Nodkrai and said it’s nothing close to what ZZZ 2.X got going

9

u/Astra_ant11 7d ago edited 7d ago

It’s probably just a sponsored award, but I’ll still vote for Genshin. The last time they won this, they gave out 1,000 Primogems.

14

u/IMakeBoomYes Traveler/Master/Endmin 7d ago edited 7d ago

Nod-Krai also ended on some very high notes. The Frost Moon map was EPIC, and the way they handled the new Elemental Reactions by turning them into buffs for older, underappreciated characters was another big plus.

Whether it gets this award or not, I've already experienced a lotta Ws as a Genshin player so I can't complain.

No, we don't even know if it's going to release this year

4

u/Xerxes457 8d ago

You didn’t miss anything. The nominees are for games that are present at Gamescom. So people will probably be able to play it there.

17

u/IGJFlew 8d ago

Endfield is my goat. hope it wins. Where winds meet is also really good tho. Silver Palace is interesting tho

5

u/bowserboy129 8d ago

Silver Palace ain't even out yet are you fucking kidding me. Also can we stop nominating old mobile games for this category and showcase more new releases like holy shit.

u/saehild 8d ago

Long time Genshin player here: I've been playing Endfield a ton and really loving it.

10

u/aadiinn 8d ago

Glory to Endfield

you see, wuthering wave is not here because that shit cant be played in mobile cuz of the shitty optimisation

10

u/Straight-Concept4605 7d ago

No, Wuthering Waves never shows up on gamescom

So who do we think is winning?

6

u/Budget-Emu-1365 7d ago

Specifically for mobile? Between Genshin and AKE methink. I don't play WWM so I can't comment and Silver Palace is also still in beta. ZZZ is dogshit on mobile. Both Genshin and AKE (only played to 1.0 though) are very well-optimized in mobile compared to ZZZ.

Is silver palace any good? Not like anyone could just play it wasnt it only closed betas?

2

u/ArachnidUnusual7114 8d ago

Is silver palace on PC? I don’t see it on iOS or PS5.

2

u/AVeryGayButterfly 8d ago

This is so scuffed

Silver Palace isn't even out yet. Crazy motion here.

2

u/Budget-Emu-1365 7d ago

Isn't Silver Palace still in beta? How did it get nominated?

2

u/IttoEnjoyer_ 7d ago

just by including Silver Palace this reward has lost any value or meaning... not like it had any to begin with, but still

5

u/__breadstick__ Genshin / ZZZ / NTE / UMA / BleachSR / Nikke 8d ago

Man let's go, both Genshin and ZZZ have been awesome this year, I'm happy they're nominated!

15

u/WebsterEvo 8d ago

My choice - Endfield. Incredible game.

11

u/DumsLander34 8d ago

Hope Endfield wins just to piss off certain people

Let’s see how long this post stays up before it needs to be “reviewed”.

3

u/Background-Owl-918 8d ago

Uhm how is silver palace up there and it’s not even officially launched…. These awards seem sus!

5

u/Existing-Extreme9240 8d ago

Endfield was also nominated last year

2

u/Background-Owl-918 8d ago

So are they just going off Betas?

8

u/datwunkid 8d ago

Presumably these titles will be playable at Gamescom and will be judged accordingly.

This of it less like a GoTY award that can go to any game every released within the last year, but more like a film festival award where that award can go to anything that's shown there.

8

u/Swords-2-Plowshares 8d ago

The award show is paid entry for attending games only.

This looks all over the place. I'd estimate that 30-40% of all the nominated games across all categories are still months away from releasing. Voting starts on the 26th and the award show is just 2 days later?

Anyways, I bet that some clueless judges on the panel are going to make the mistake of voting for Endfield.

3

u/Existing-Extreme9240 8d ago

yeah like how LADS won last year

5

u/Golb89 8d ago

some clueless judges on the panel are going to make the mistake of voting for Endfield

(You forgot about Fortnite players btw)

4

u/New_Economist_9429 8d ago

Genshin losing here is a sure robbery.

11

u/Existing-Extreme9240 8d ago

Genshin lost to LADS last year. It could go to anyone

Endfield has an outstanding optimisation on mobile and pretty easy endgame (good for mobile), so it is the best game from mobile perspective.

9

u/Existing-Extreme9240 8d ago

and the game looks the best too on mobile

2

u/Ilurktoodamnlong 8d ago

I feel like where winds meet in the category is such a funny thing in middle of like all 2D anime games. And suddenly bam, you get to experience a dramatized version of famine, political assassination, economic conspiracy that happen in real history during early Song dynasty 🤣

2

u/Apprehensive_Shift70 7d ago

I'm surprised how there are still many chronically online reddit user that dont know how Gamescom award nomination works

1

u/theCOMBOguy ULTRA RARE 8d ago

Silver Palace my GOAT getting prizes without even having launched yet 🔥

1

u/iEnj0y 7d ago

1

u/Ok-Apricot-555 7d ago

1

u/HonkedOffJohn 7d ago

Didn't know where winds meet is a mobile game damn I thought it was PC only

1

u/DooceBigalo 7d ago

Silver Palace huh?

1

u/Kejn24 PGR / WuWa 7d ago

Silver Palace being here means they have smart people responsible for marketing.

1

u/ChanceNecessary2455 7d ago

Almost 12 since the post is up. Now it's time to read the comments. Hopefully everyone is friendly and wholesome as always.

1

u/famaki_ 7d ago

they could just make 'best upcoming mobile game' award instead of lumping together with older game in 'best mobile' category

1

u/thetoy323 7d ago

can these game really be able to play on mobile phone? not just on run be actually play.
